The Devil You Know

I love true crime documentaries and had high hopes for this series. What a letdown. I get that TV documentaries tease what's coming in the next segment(s), and then do a few second recap at the beginning of them. This show takes that to the extreme with excessive repetition, and the narrator makes it that much worse by dragging it out. It's almost as if they don't have enough content for a full episode, so they have to fill the time by saying the same thing and showing the same photos over and over. The narrator tries way too hard to create suspense by being overly dramatic, giving me so much second hand embarrassment that I had to fast forward through his comments. Stock pictures, staged clips, awkward camera angles, and rapid focus changes for the interviews are poor attempts at being "cool" and just come off as being obnoxious and heavy handed. It's a shame, because the 17 minutes or so of original information was actually pretty interesting, and the series could have been binge worthy instead of cringe worthy, but I only got through 2 1/2 episodes before I had to stop watching because I was going to throw my remote through the screen.

Vice is horrible! Don't believe anything they put out, EVER! It's all ignorant made up lies!

I feel bad for the people who are interviewed for the show. The narrator has a terrible voice and the script is SO cringe!! I think they should remake the show without the stupid script and get a decent narrator.

What the heck is up with the constant extreme close ups of the interviewees eyes? SUPER WEIRD and very annoying. Do we not know how to simply film a person in an interview? This happens enough to write a review about it...
