This is a crazy premise, where the judge puts these cons in charge of a church for their rehabilitation. Soon into the movie I bought into the characters and found the wild plot a lot of fun. I really did laugh out-loud several times. Loved all the hypocritical church members and other commentaries on our society. This is very different from any other Christian film I have ever seen. Richard Speight Jr is a natural for the Pastor, he wants to have fun, then wants to do a good job but so funny how he says bizarre prayers and practices counseling people, love it! Victor Raider-Wexler makes a great judge, and Murry Gershen as the insulting bailiff. Irma P. Hall as Sister Louise is very convincing as the loving caring true Christian who is willing to help rather than judge and control like everyone else. Thumbs up!
Three convicts try to get out of jail by saying that they've realised the error in their ways and have been 'saved'. They are released to the custody of a local business man who has them working as ministers in the local church. Frankie works with the kids, Jamal has the job of trying to fix up the truly awful church choir, and Sam is the preacher. Needless to say, none of them are too keen on this job, but working in the church helps them to truly realise the error of their ways, especially when they uncover a plot to destroy the church using money stolen from the church's collection fund. A great and harmless movie that everyone can watch. It's not specific to kids or adults, which is something that's becoming increasingly hard to find these days.
This movie is fantastic! I couldn't stop laughing! My whole family went to see it and we all enjoyed it. It's definitely a unique find when you can watch a title that all ages and walks of life enjoy watching. It's safe for the whole family to see, and anyone who watches it won't believe it's a faith based movie from the quality and detail the cast and crew produced. It definitely carries a powerful message. Before we try to throw people into church programs, they need to experience the power of God. This movie carries that message with a fun and lively storyline. There are moments you'll cry laughing, and moments you'll feel in the depths of your heart, because the characters are so relate-able. They ask real-life questions and find real-life answers through a real encounter with Jesus. Everyone should see this movie! AND see it again!
The first time I saw this movie, I was curious about how it would compare with other family friendly movies with such serious, sometimes depressing, stories with horrendously bad acting. I was pleasantly surprised by 3 Blind Saints. This is such a fun movie with lots of familiar faces. I laughed out loud several times and so did the family members that watched it with me. We're all ready to see it again! Richard Speight, Jr.'s character is hilarious and I love the grounded character played by Irma P. Hall. I'm also happy to say that this is a movie you can watch with the entire family without having moments of wishing your children (or parents) weren't watching it with you. Great fun, great music and definitely some moments that will catch you by surprise. If you're looking for a movie with a good message that the entire family can watch, you'll want to check out 3 Blind Saints!
Remember the old Bill Murray, Steve Martin, Martin Short style movies? If you enjoyed them, you'll love this. Richard Speight, Jr and his amigos are delightful. You can definitely see the old SNL heyday comedies' traits shine through. It's rare now. Take a chance on this one on a day when you want something very light and enjoy the banter.
