Fun. Quirky. Swedish. Sisters, their friends, their boyfriends and husbands. Hilarious ongoing antics between spouses, friends. Dealing with work, social life, sex life. To cheat or not to cheat. The parents barge in on the kids... the kids barge in on the parentals. Very frank discussions of sex, sexuality, families, dating. And definitely not for the younger children! Funny bits, mixed in with some serious stuff. Directed by ella lemhagen; she's done a bunch of tv and film, and won numerous film fest awards.
A nice attempt by HBO Max to make a traditional swedish comedy show based on awkward situations, social inabilities and typical Swedish reluctance of conflicts. It balances between funny and embarassing in a deliberately provocative Way. To a swedish viewer this is nothing new but I can understand that it's a very different experience for an american viewer. The actresses are some of the most acclaimed and experienced ones in Sweden and I think their performances are mostly solid. Overall I had a good time watching it.
I had this in my watch list on HBO Max for a while and forgot about it. This weekend I noticed it again and watched the first episode. It was very good! (despite having to read subtitles, which I generally hate)
Then when HBO Max tried to play the next episide it failed with a very strange error. After that it was gone from my watchlist and I can no longer find it on HBO Max either on the web site or the app.
Does anyone know what happened? Did HBO Pull this already with no notification? I can't find any articles online about this, but many about the debut in March.

The serie takes place in Sweden in beautiful surroundings. Almost all the characters are really funny in their own specific way and it's great to be able to follow each one in 8 episodes. The language is sometimes so rude that I wonder how they can even take themselves seriously without bursting out laughing on the set. The commercial that was shot with "Vildhavre / Wild Oats" has settled as a mantra in my brain, even if it was too much. The different situations that the characters go through sometimes require a pillow to hide behind because it becomes cringe, but in a good fun way.
I love that it's about 4 women and their lives with men, jobs, boyfriends and children. The series really takes everything to a new twisted level at the same time as it is possible to find recognition as a 40+ woman.
I did not think this serie was for me but I found myself laughing straight out several times. It is not shy or apologetic for itself and I am filled with energy and joy on their adventures. When the last episode was over, I immediately wanted a season 2.
It was feel good that I did not know I needed - or would like. :-) I love being surprised!
If you do not know Swedish, you can turn on the subtitles.

Being a US-born non-Swedish middle-aged man, this show was a total gamble for me... but it worked out and I really liked it. I haven't seen the theme of middle-aged women struggling to come to terms with their sexuality addressed in quite this style. The show reminds me a bit of Netflix's Working Moms but with a Scandinavian flavor, more warmth, and less ridiculousness.
It was great to get to see the Sweden-based settings and exposure to Svensk (with English subs -- you just need to turn them on).
I thought the acting was quite good and the characters and plot were interesting... if not totally believable. Still... it all works to bring an interesting story together. If the show is renewed for another season, I will watch it.
