Dakota Johnson has had many critically acclaimed projects, and her latest rom-com, Materialistscontinues the same trend. The film marks her first project since Madame Web, and it completely redeems the poor reception the superhero film got.

Materialists brings back love triangles, with Johnson's Lucy, who plays a matchmaker in New York, torn between her perfect match, Pascal's Harry, and Evans' John, her ex. The rom-com comes from acclaimed filmmaker Celine Song, who made her debut with the Oscar-nominated romance Past Lives. Ahead of its release in theaters on June 13,Materialists debuted with a thrilling 92% score from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” star Dakota Johnson’s latest movie “Chloe and Theo” has been acquired by Arc Entertainment, which will release the film in theaters and on VOD on Sept. 4, it was announced Monday by Arc’s head of acquisitions Scott Moesta. Mira Sorvino, Larry King and newcomer Theo Ikummaq, which was written and directed by Ezna Sands. “Chloe and Theo” tells the story of Theo (Ikummaq), an Inuit man from the Arctic who travels to New York City to warn world leaders about the catastrophic impact of global warming on the planet. Upon arrival, he meets a homeless girl named Chloe.

Also on Tiberius’s slate are two horror films produced by Eli Roth - The Stranger, directed by Guillermo Amoedo, about a Canadian village doomed by the arrival of a stranger and Clown, directed by Jon Watts, in which a clown costume turns a well-meaning father into a coldblooded killer.

Spotlight Pictures has picked up world sales right to Generation 14plus selection The Beat Beneath My Feet starring Luke Perry and newcomer Nicholas Galitzine.

John Williams directed from a screenplay by producer Michael Müller about a lonely teen living with his god-fearing mother who dreams of becoming a rock star.

Apparently the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is more interested in peace than war — or in superstars coming to their show. The complete shutout of Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken and Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper (both expected to be Major contenders) were eye openers for the foreign based Globe voters across-the-board dismissal of these two films, set in different wars but depicting iconic true-life American heroes. Throw in another total blank for Sony’s big hope, the very fine Brad Pitt-starring World War II drama, Fury and you have a scenario where the Globes appear to be quite battle weary this season – and not a fan of major studio fare this time around. Fifty Shades of Grey, the fastest-selling book of all time, has been in the running for an adaptation for a little while now.

Needless to say, the rumours have been circulating for a while now as to who will be taking the leading roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, and now the wait is over, with author E.L. James herself announcing the casting.

Dakota Johnson will be playing the female lead as Anastasia Steele, with Charlie Hunnam starring opposite as Christian Grey.

Sam Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy) was officially announced as the director back in June, and she’ll be taking the helm with a script penned by Kelly Marcel (Terra Nova, Saving Mr. Banks).

Dana Brunetti (The Social Network) and Michael De Luca (Moneyball) will be producing alongside James.

The 14th annual Boston Underground Film Festival is ready to kick ass and take names on March 29 to April 1 at the Brattle Theatre. And a few of those names will look familiar to Buff fanatics — and underground film fans the world over.

A trio of Buff favorites are returning to the fest with debut feature films after totally killing it with their amazing short films in the past. Jamie Heinrich‘s Happily Never After is a feature-length expansion of the short film that took home the Best of Fest Award in 2010, but with more solid and mature themes as the movie explores the problematic life of a degenerate photographer.

Another former award winner is Richard Bates Jr. who will be screening Excision, another feature-length extension of a short film, this one about a teenage girl who exercises her morbid obsession with surgery every chance she gets.

Lorre was removed from the series, but the show was canceled as Butler dealt with an addiction to painkillers. In 2005 Butler appeared in an episode of "My Name Is Earl," but her series TV work has been limited since "Grace" ended.

Selma Blair and Shawnee Smith also star in "Anger Management." Sheen plays a former baseball player who becomes a therapist who specializes in anger management.

Houston’s most famous song, I Will Always Love You, was the most downloaded single on iTunes the day after her death, sales spurred by fans such as the one who blogged that the Queen of Pop sang “the soundtrack to my life.”

The demand for her singles and albums will only continue to soar in the days and weeks ahead, Theo Peridis, a professor of strategic management at York University, told CBC News in a phone interview Monday.
