Exclusive: Actor-turned filmmaker Clark Duke (Arkansas) has wrapped production on Stranglehold, a new comedic thriller in the vein of the Coen Brothers’s oeuvre for Yale Productions. Cast for the pic includes Ashley Benson (Wilderness), Emmy nominee Jake Lacy (Apples Never Fall), Justin Long (Barbarian) and Golden Globe winner Ron Perlman (The Instigators).
Written by Chandler Duke, Billington Garrett and Clark Duke, the film is billed as a Southern-fried siege, with shades of Dog Day Afternoon and Die Hard, which centers on Bailey (Benson), an exotic dancer with big dreams. She and her Army vet husband Tim (Lacy) are fed up with their lives of barely getting by in small-town Arkansas, so they decide to rob the strip club that employs her.
Producers include Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman and Michael Day of Yale Productions, along with Clark Duke. Exec producers are Rabbits Black’s Lawrence Minicone, Ronnie Exley, Jeremy Ross,...

It’s summer time on Hulu and that can only mean one thing. With its list of new releases for June 2023, Hulu is bringing back last summer’s unexpected hit.
FX’s The Bear season 2 premieres all episodes on June 22. If you’re not already captivated by this intense culinary story about the little Italian beef shop that could, definitely catch up now. This time around, Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and friends will attempt a major foodie rebrand. The only other Hulu series of note this month is the docuseries The Age of Influence. Premiering on June 5, this doc will examine the dark side of influencer culture.
Just like its corporate partner Disney+, Hulu will premiere Eva Longoria’s directorial debut, Flamin’ Hot, in June 9. The movie tells the true story of Frito-Lay janitor Richard Montañez (Jesse Garcia) who created an iconic snack that forever changed the food industry. Also...

Season 2 of last summer’s hit breakout series “The Bear” is set to premiere on Hulu on Thursday, June 22. After a tumultuous return to his family’s hole-in-the-wall Chicago restaurant, chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) and his staff transform the greasy sandwich joint into a first-class dining experience after he discovers the slush fund his brother left behind. Despite having the extra money to make his dreams a reality, the future proves to be both a personal and professional challenge for Carmy and the crew.
Watch the trailer for Season 2 of “The Bear”:
Beginning on June 14, the new series continuation of the beloved film “The Full Monty” arrives on Hulu. It’s 25 years later and the men and women of Sheffield, England, are in reboot mode, navigating life and family. The original 1997 movie focused on a group of down-on-their-luck, blue-collar men who put on a strip show to make ends meet.

It’s been a happy party daze from coast to coast and beyond as big stars get dressed to the nines and hit the scene, celebrating everything about the arts as we roll into the holiday season. Plus, early awards shows portend the coming nominations from the Academy, the Critics Choice Association and the top guilds including SAG, DGA and PGA; and “Avatar: The Way of Water” made a huge late-entry splash into the contender’s bracket.

It's the holiday season, which means you're probably enjoying your favorite Christmas movies, whether it's a new favorite worth seeking out like "Christmas with the Campbells" or an old favorite like "A Christmas Story." Well, if you're looking for a little more Yuletide fun this year, the filmmakers behind both of those movies have a new podcast series out that will be digging into the legacy of some of your favorite films, and they're starting with Christmas movies.
Vince Vaughn has teamed up with his Wild West Picture Show Productions partner Peter Billingsley, star of "A Christmas Story" and writer/producer of the recent sequel that hit HBO Max (seen above), for the podcast called "A Cinematic Christmas Journey." Of course, the podcast begins with an episode looking back at "A Christmas Story" with some of the film's original cast members reminiscing about the making of the movie and the...

Don’t let the #1 slot on iTunes, Google Play, and Vudu fool you: There’s lots more going on beyond “Black Adam” (Warner Bros. Discovery/19.99). In a landscape packed with franchise fare and Christmas contenders, “Bullet Train” (Sony/5.99) placed on all three charts and #1 as a new availability at Netflix.
The success of “Bullet Train” also speaks to the value of a film first enjoying a major theatrical presence. Its #1 slot Netflix comes after a 100 million+ domestic gross, followed by multiple weeks of VOD success. It replicates the platform’s immediate interest in Sony’s “Where the Crawdads Sing,” which spent more than a week at #1 (and is still #10).
The battle within that holly-jolly battle: Four Christmas-themed titles occupy nearly a third of the top 10 chart positions. The clear winner is Universal’s 2018 animated “The Grinch” (3.99), which ranks as high as #2 at iTunes, top 10 elsewhere. Universal’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas...

On the surface, the newly released "Christmas with the Campbells" may look like your average holiday romantic comedy, the likes of which you'd see on the Hallmark channel. But that's exactly what producers Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsley wanted you to think. Though the film retains the cheesy romance and holiday heart of those made-for-tv movies, it's also packed with hilariously raunchy one-liners and the kind of dialogue that you'll be absolutely shocked to hear in a holiday movie like this.
If you're not familiar with the premise of the movie, "Christmas with the Campbells" follows Jesse (Brittany Snow), whose life is thrown into upheaval when her douchebag boyfriend Shawn (Alex Moffat) breaks up with her just a few days before Christmas. However, since Shawn will be in New York City for the holidays, and his parents, the titular Campbells played by Julia Duffy and George Wendt, love Jesse so much,...

"Christmas with the Campbells" arrived in select theaters this past weekend, but people will more likely check out the surprisingly hilarious R-rated take on the Hallmark holiday romance formula by way of streaming on AMC+ or rental through the digital platform of their choice (it's only 5 right now!). With the film arriving at the perfect time, we're hoping it's finding an audience by providing a refreshing take on the dozens of made-for-tv movies that create a flurry of cheesiness around the holidays. If all goes well, it sounds like producers Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsley and their Wild West Picture Show Productions banner may try deliver another one of these raunchy spins on holiday romance.

"Christmas with the Campbells" is coming to select theaters and AMC+ this weekend. Trust me when I say you'll experience some side-splitting laughter if you give this one a shot.

"Christmas with the Campbells" is bringing some refreshingly raunchy comedy to the Hallmark holiday romance formula. For this new Christmas movie, producers Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsley (star of "A Christmas Story" and its recent sequel), who have been friends since working on a CBS after-school special back in 1990, brought in bona fide Hallmark movie screenwriter Barbara Kymlicka to deliver your average holiday romance. But that was just the beginning. The plan was to take the script, about a messy break-up around Christmastime, and sprinkle in some R-rated humor that adds a little bit of naughty to everything that's typically nice about made-for-tv holiday romances. And that's exactly what they did.
Director Clare Neiderpruem, another Hallmark veteran, was brought in to take the helm, and "Christmas with the Campbells" came together with some surprising star power in the form of Brittany Snow, Justin Long, and Alex Moffat. All three are great as the primary characters,...

Every single year, it seems like there are at least a hundred new Hallmark holiday movies hitting cable and streaming services. No matter how cheesy, formulaic, or poorly acted these movies are, people can't seem to get enough of them. I'm not sure if most people are hate-watching them for a good laugh or if the holidays just have them seeking out the warmth of hammy holiday happiness and love. No matter what the reason, these movies are typically not for me. But thankfully, producers Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsley have figured out a way to make these Hallmark holiday movies a little more appealing.
On the surface, the new holiday romantic comedy "Christmas with the Campbells" follows a familiar Hallmark movie formula. Brittany Snow ("Pitch Perfect") plays Jesse, whose life is thrown into upheaval when her douchebag boyfriend Shawn breaks up with her just a few days before Christmas.

“Saturday Night Live” is now sans a few more stars.
After longtime cast members Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, and Kyle Mooney parted ways with the sketch comedy series earlier this year, “SNL” has now confirmed that Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseñor, and Aristotle Athari will not be returning for the upcoming season.
Moffat, who frequently plays Eric Trump on the series, joined the cast for Season 42 as a featured player from 2016 through 2018. He was brought on as a full-time cast member in 2018. He has since starred in “Holidate” and “Clifford the Big Red Dog,” with upcoming films “Susie Searches,” “Christmas with the Campbells,” “Jodie,” and series “Bad Monkey” in the works.
Villaseñor also became part of the “SNL” cast in Season 42, similarly starting as a featured player and along with Moffat, becoming a full time repertory player in 2018. Villaseñor started as a contestant on “America’s Got Talent” before booking “SNL.
