I was privileged to see Et Tu right as it was released to streaming. I was completely surprised at how good a movie it was. This is one of Lou Diamond Phillips best performances. He takes the director, Brent from a maniacal obsession of producing a brilliant version of Julius Caesar to complete madness. A madness that comes in the delightful character of a janitor played by Malcolm McDowell. The humor is hidden in the descent but brings enough "guffaws" to keep you throughly entertained. The supporting cast is exceptional, making this a great date night or movie night must see. Check it out. You won't be disappointed!

10 stars Aug 1, 2025 Although this is not my typical genre of movies. I really enjoyed the dry humor, twists and surprises that had me being a little louder than one should in a movie. Lou Diamond and the whole cast did a remarkable job. I watched with friends and immediately went home and told my husband and kids (adult kids) to watch it. Wildly entertaining in a dark sense.

I was so fortunate to see this darkly funny horror movie at the Phoenix Film Festival in April 2024. Like many of us movie lovers, it's a welcome treat when you come across such a film with so many unexpected delights!
Led by veteran actors Lou Diamond Phillips and Malcolm McDowell, the talented cast take us on a thrill ride of what happens on and off stage in a production of Julius Caesar. Be sure to watch for a great comedic turn by Brennan Keel Cook as a handsome but not-too-bright actor, challenged by the pivotal role of Brutus.
Needless to say, not all the blood spilled remains on the stage. Screenwriter / Director Max Tzannes literally pulls back the curtain on a world of an ill-fated troupe of players and the crew who try to hold it all together.

I enjoy seeking out new filmmakers work but the movies can be pretty hit and miss.
When you do come across a diamond in the rough however, it makes it all worth it. Case in point here with "Et Tu." I was hooked from the opening shot and it just kept getting better. A dark, twisted, laugh out loud, rollercoaster of a ride that I did not want to get off of. The writing, directing and cinematography was simply sensational and I adored the score.
Lou Diamond Philips and Malcolm McDowell did a superb job as they always do, but what truly blew my mind were the periphery actors. Every single one of them were excellent. Stand out performance by the actor who plays Terrence. Bravo! These filmmakers are clearly on their way to super stardom and I for one cannot wait to see what they do next.

Et Tu is a masterpiece of the horrors of demanding perfection in art. We are in the mind of a director who is cursed with an incompetent actor as his main character & watch as he finds a solution to his problems (a solution that is gifted to him).
I laughed as many times as my eyes widened in horror. Dark comedy indeed.
Lou Diamond Phillips is outstanding as the director. We don't know what he will do next, but we can't keep our eyes off of him.
Amazing performances by all. A true 'diamond' of a find for all of us who love intelligent & darkly funny movies.
