Strong start but goes downhill. Still worth a watch.

    I accidently found this film.

The film starts with a girl Samantha in a Coma. It tells the story of the lead up to her going in a coma. Really though it is about her father. He is a thief who has to make his getaways on foot because his driving licence is suspended. In order to get away with a credit card fraud his lawyer suggests some kind of community service so the judge looks favourably on him. His daughters basketball coach goes on strike just as it is looking like they can win a championship so he takes over as coach. There is also an element of a plot involving the kidnapping of a gangster's girlfriend's dog that goes wrong.

The film starts out strong and is funny. However the film slowly goes down hill and runs out of steam. The acting is a bit patchy in places. Especially the gangster and his henchman who looks the part but don't act that well. The ending is predictable and a bit melodramatic. It feels half way that the film isn't really going anywhere. After the strong start it just felt like they had run out of ideas and script.

It's worth a watch as there is a good effort but it could have been far better. I am pretty sure I only finished it so I could be the first reviewer on a film for a change.
