DreamWorks has earned quite a reputation for crafting quality stories that engage all ages. From Shrek to How to Train Your Dragon, the studio has many well-known franchises in its catalog. Kung Fu Pandais among the most recognizable, and DreamWorks has found no shortage of creative inspiration for sequels and spin-offs. Po's story might have started as an inspirational underdog looking to become a warrior, but it has since evolved as the threat of his enemies has grown and his roster of allies has strengthened. The Kung Fu Panda series is a fantastic way to introduce someone to DreamWorks for its narratives, moving character arcs, and gorgeous animation.
While the films in the Kung Fu Panda franchise are the main event, there is plenty of additional spin-off material to take into account. This guide will break down the order of each piece of Kung Fu Panda content while giving some...

John Stevenson and Mike Osborne's 2008 film "Kung Fu Panda," on its most basic level, serves as a spoof of a certain type of martial arts film made in Hong Kong in the 1970s. Many of the tropes of martial arts cinema infiltrated American cinemas in the 1990s and 2000s thanks to the stateside releases of Jackie Chan's Hong Kong movies, the success of the wuxia film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," and the constant bolstering of the genre by mega-fan Quentin Tarantino.
By 2008, so many American filmmakers had borrowed from Hong King cinema (including Tarantino himself with his "Kill Bill" movies), that even small children could recreate their tropes and clichés on the playground. Every kid could spot the characters: ancient wizened masters, a team of martial arts monks, and a feisty young comedic hotshot who seems ill-equipped for the asceticism of kung fu, but ultimately proves to be a champion.

Kung Fu Panda franchise began in 2008, with multiple spinoffs and movies grossing over $1.8 billion. Kung Fu Panda 4 released in 2024, could be confusing due to the eight-year gap between previous installments. The franchise can be enjoyed chronologically or by release date order, offering plenty of stories to watch and enjoy.
The Kung Fu Panda franchise has been incredibly successful since it started in 2008 with multiple spinoffs, television specials, a holiday special, and four main movies that may challenge one who wants to watch it all in order. The Kung Fu Panda franchise has grossed over $1.8 billion at the box office and has been a massive hit with fans worldwide, even getting a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon at the parade. Angelina Jolie has had a poor run of movies in recent years, with many underperforming both with critics and at the box office. Despite the lack of success, Jolie consistently delivers committed and energetic performances, often outshining the material she is given. The release of Kung Fu Panda 4 in 2024 has the potential to be Jolie's biggest box office hit since 2016, and it may kickstart her movie comeback.
Even as an A-list star, Angelina Jolie has had a run of critical and commercial misfires over the last eight years, but her next movie can break the streak. Unlike some of her contemporaries, Jolie sometimes only makes two movies a year, or even one a year, preferring to balance her acting career with philanthropic endeavors and familial obligations. “Kung Fu Panda 4” is officially in the works at DreamWorks and Universal, with a wide release set for March 8, 2024.
The film will mark the third sequel of the original “Kung Fu Panda,” which premiered in 2008 to become DreamWorks’ highest-grossing original animated film. Set in ancient China, the martial arts movie told the epic story of a panda named Po (Jack Black), whose love of kung fu was matched only by his insatiable appetite.
Black has voiced Po in all three films, as well as shorts “Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five,” “Kung Fu Panda Holiday,” “Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters,” “Kung Fu Panda: Po’s Winter Wonderland” and “Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Scroll.” He also reprised the role in the TV series “Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight,” which debuted on Netflix in July. TV ratings: 'The Sing-Off' returns to a higher note Monday, 'Christmas Light Fight' has decent start
Fast National ratings for Monday, Dec. 9, 2013
"The Sing-Off" returned to NBC Monday to higher ratings than its last time out, rising half a point in adults 18-49 from its 2011 premiere (when it aired as a weekly series rather than a two-week strip). It didn't hurt that it had "The Voice," which was steady in the 18-49 demo and up in viewers vs. last week, as a lead-in.
Elsewhere Monday, the premiere of ABC's "The Great Christmas Light Fight" drew decent ratings, improving on the debut of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" last year. "Almost Human" ticked up for Fox, but CBS' "Mike & Molly" fell as rest of the network's comedy block was in reruns.
NBC averaged 9.9 million viewers and a 6.1 rating/9 share in households in primetime, easily beating ABC (6.5 million, 3.9/6) for the top spot. Fox (6.25 million, 3.9/6) came in third. CBS took fourth with 5.3 million viewers and a 3.5/5) The CW (918,000, 0.6/1) trailed with a night of specials.

Moviefone's New Release Pick of the Week "The Dark Knight Rises" What's It About? Batman vs. Bane See it Because: Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale deliver an epic end to their gritty, realistic interpretation of the Dark Knight. Rather than attempt to top Heath Ledger's Joker, they smartly tell a broader, globe-spanning story that brings it all back to "Batman Begins." The action is sprawling, the villains are menacing, the cast is awesome and once the dust settles in a few years, we'll be looking at Nolan's "Batman" trilogy as an amazing piece of American crime cinema. (Not to mention, Anne Hathaway delivers a surprisingly fun performance as Catwoman that gets the character out of the shadow of Michelle Pfeiffer.) Fast National ratings for Friday, Dec. 23, 2011
Friday night was, as you might expect of a Friday right before Christmas, rather uneventful in the Nielsen ratings. "Chuck" was the only original scripted program on broadcast TV, and it was up a tick over last week.

Thanks to a batch of holiday specials, ABC led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 1.1 rating, edging out CBS' 1.0 and NBC's 0.9. Fox drew a 0.6 and The CW a 0.4.

Fast national ratings for Monday, Dec. 19, 2011
The Monday night before Christmas is filled with reruns, so it's no wonder not too many people tuned in to their TVs last night. CBS managed to pull out a win with repeats of its Monday night sitcoms, although the two-hour "Terra Nova" finale on Fox just barely came in second.

You know Jack McBrayer as ‘Kenneth’ from 30 Rock but did you also know he’s a voice over actor?
Tonight, his voice over talents are on display in NBC‘s, Kung Fu Panda Holiday Special. He plays ‘Wo Hop,’ a rabbit that is constantly at Po’s side throughout the special.
The special also features the voices of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu and David Cross.
Jack talked to us in a conference call where he talked about how he came up with the voice of ‘Wo Hop,’ working on The Simpsons and more!
Can you explain a little bit about how you ended up working on this special and what it was like actually going in and recording the part?
Jack McBrayer: I play a rabbit called Wo Hop and traditionally with voice-over work a lot of times you’ll go...
