It’s a fairly packed month on Hulu this February thanks to the addition of some interesting TV shows from FX and ABC. While the streamer’s own original content is somewhat limited – Life + Beth is returning for season 2 – you can also catch the new series of Feud this month. The new installment in Ryan Murphy’s juicy anthology show is based on the bestseller Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era by Laurence Leamer, and tells the story of Truman Capote’s betrayal and fall-out with New York’s most glamorous socialites. Actor Tom Wilkinson, known for his BAFTA-winning role in The Full Monty and Oscar-nominated turns in Michael Clayton and In the Bedroom, died Saturday. He was 75.

Wilkinson died “suddenly” at home, according to a statement from the actor’s family, who were with him when he died as was his wife.

“The family asks for privacy at this time,” the statement continued.

Wilkinson was nominated for six BAFTA awards over the course of his career, winning best performance by an actor in a supporting role in 1998 for The Full Monty. His other nods included recognition for Michael Clayton, In the Bedroom and Shakespeare in Love.

In The Full Monty, he played Gerald, a former steel mill foreman who joins his fellow unemployed workers in staging a strip show.

British actor Tom Wilkinson, who won a Bafta for his work in The Full Monty and was Oscar-nominated for Michael Clayton and In The Bedroom, has died at 75 on Saturday. No cause was given.

“It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Wilkinson announce that he died suddenly at home on December 30,” said a statement from his agent. “His wife and family were with him. The family asks for privacy at this time.”

He also starred in 1998’s Shakespeare in Love, Christopher Nolan’s 2005 Batman Begins, and 2011 thriller Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.

He was also in the Disney+ streaming series of The Full Monty, reprising his role as factory foreman Gerald Cooper.

His film resume includes The Grand Budapest Hotel and Girl with a Pearl Earring among more than 130 film and TV credits.

Black Knight season 2 is not confirmed yet, as Netflix has not announced its renewal or cancellation. The first season had a satisfying ending, so there might not be much interest in a new entry. Busan’s industry platform, Asian Contents & Film Market (Acfm), is a marketplace where sales agents set up their stalls to sell projects in development and completed films. But increasingly, it’s also becoming a place where producers can find the stories and other source material they need to bring those films and series to life.

Last year, Acfm launched the Busan Story Market, a more user-friendly moniker for the various strands of the market that present works available for adaptation and remake. The Netflix movie and TV series that have been dominating the streamer’s weekly viewing chart were both still atop the Top 10 chart for the week of May 15. Read on for this week’s analysis.

Jennifer Lopez‘s action-thriller “The Mother” burst into the weekly streaming chart last week, and it topped the English films list for a second week with 94.4 million hours viewed globally. That means the movie has been viewed by almost 90 million accounts, i.e. 178.1 million hours viewed divided by the movie’s 1.96 hour runtime. It remained in the Top 10 in 93 countries with many of those regions, including the U.S. and Canada, the #1 viewed movie.

The documentary “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me” also entered the charts in second place with 15.7 million hours viewed, followed by a number of non-Netflix films like Seth McFarlane‘s hit comedy “Ted,” Tom Hanks‘ “A Man Called Otto,” and the sci-fi thriller “Synchronic.

The most exciting upcoming K-dramas streaming in 2023 and beyond include brand-new series, long-awaited sequels, and the continuation of hit shows that dominated pop culture in the last couple of years. 2022 saw dozens of hit Korean dramas streaming globally across different platforms, including but not limited to All of Us Are Dead, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, The Glory Part 1, Pachinko, Little Women, and Alchemy of Souls. The action thriller, which follows skilled assassin who emerges amid danger to protect her daughter, reached the No. 1 spot in 82 countries with nearly 43 million views. Directed by Niki Caro, “The Mother” nabbed the top spot on the streamer’s English films list this week, with “A Man Called Otto” and “The Croods” following in second and third place, respectively.

On the TV front, “Bridgerton” spinoff “Queen Charlotte” maintained its crown on the English TV list, pulling in an additional 158.68 million hours viewed this week as it appeared in the Top 10 in 91 countries. Dystopian futures have made for an interesting film genre worth exploring over the years. Post apocalyptic series like Silo and Black Knight are two of the more recent offerings, both delivering unique takes on what is a widely explored genre. None, however, has taken the path being carved out by director Michael Tyburski’s dystopian romantic comedy Turn Me On. The sci-fi comedy has wrapped principal photography and a first image has been released which teases love and romance in a world where it is not allowed.

There’s nothing drab about Netflix’s Korean action series Black Knight, which released all six Season 1 episodes on Friday. Although set in a dystopia, the show doesn’t feel like a hopeless slug — at least in the first episode — thanks its charismatic leads, who bring much-welcomed humor to the dark story.

The backstory: 40 years prior to the events of Episode 1, a comet struck the earth and sent most continents plunging into the sea. Only one percent of the population survived, and the Korean Peninsula turned into a desert.

Webtoon and Ott platforms have been long-standing partners over the years. The widespread success of dramas like Sweet Home and Nevertheless has brought more viewers to the world of online webcomics that have been transformed into live-action dramas. Netflix brings us yet another one titled Black Knight literally translated from Korean to “Deliveryman”, which is based on a webtoon of the same name, written and illustrated by Lee Yun Kyun. Yet another Korean dystopian drama graces our screens, but this time there are no zombies involved. The post-apocalyptic K-drama titled Black Knight or Deliveryman, as it is known in Korean, makes the peninsula a desert land with no oxygen to breathe. There are many red flags right there, but the show goes as far as to create an underground world with sectors that are divided by cast, essentially like the Hunger Games or, if you want to make random ties, the Netflix film The Platform. This time the classes go underground, and the lower you go, the richer they are. In theory, Black Knight sounds wonderful, but in practice, the show doesn’t translate very well specifically because there is so much to cover in much less time.

It is 2071, and around forty years ago, there was a comet that hit the earth and destroyed 99% of the world’s population.

Black Knight is a great South Korean series, this time in the apocalyptic sense of the story, gathering all the experience of the industry that, since Train to Busan, has given such good results.

Black Knight is full of intrigue and subplots, but the action scenes are the queens of the show, standing out in rhythm and giving agility to each episode, which splashes with fights, chases, car races and so on.

Above all, it stands out in its outdoor setting, with a Korea turned into a desert, and it resorts to brutal photographic contrast.

A production with quality and with clear ideas of what it wants and, above all, with the well-learnt lesson of what works for the public. It knows how to play its cards and give in...

While it isn’t always as gripping as it tries to reach for, there is a delightfully cartoonish nature to the world of Black Knight that is juxtaposed against the darkness of its dystopian premise. Some of this makes sense — considering it is actually based on a webtoon — but it also becomes far more expansive than that. There may be some who attempt to superficially compare it to another South Korean series like Squid Game because of the way it introduces a dangerous competition, but a more apt point of reference would be the masterpiece that is Mad Max: Fury Road. Though none of the six episodes of Black Knight are as ambitious and assured as that film, with some of its special effects often glaringly hollow, there is still an enduring charm to the experience that breaks free in some of the more chaotic sequences. Netflix recently announced it would be investing $2.5 billion into South Korean programming. Before Squid Game season 2 comes down the pike, however, the first seeds of that investment will bear fruit for Netflix in May 2023.

Netflix’s list of new releases for May 2023 is highlighted by the May 12 release of Korean series Black Knight. That will be followed by post-apocalyptic animated comedy Mulligan on May 12 and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s TV debut Fubar on May 25. And for those hoping for “triples,” I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson premieres on May 30.

On the movie side of things, Netflix has an unusually busy month.

Eternals' Black Knight tease has become even more disappointing thanks to the latest Blade update. Marvel Studios delivered a surprise in Eternals' post-credits scene when Mahershala Ali's Blade was heard speaking to Kit Harington's Dane Whitman. The scene appeared to be a sign that Dane would make an appearance in Blade. This team-up opportunity immediately caught the attention of fans, especially as it signaled a chance for Dane to actually wield the Ebony Blade and take on the Black Knight mantle after failing to do so in Eternals' post-credits scene.

The assumption that Black Knight would be in Blade has become a bigger question mark around the film as time has progressed. Marvel Studios never confirmed plans to have Kit Harington return to the MCU for the Phase 5 film, which created doubt about the possibility. Furthermore, rumors have swirled that the vampire-centric film will be an MCU prequel...

Netflix’s lineup of new films and TV shows joining the streaming service in May 2023 includes Sylvester Stallone’s series debut in Fubar and a controversial examination of the life of Queen Cleopatra. Netflix is also expanding the award-winning Bridgerton series with the prequel Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story focusing on the relationship between Charlotte and King George.

New specials from Hannah Gadsby and Wanda Sykes debut in May, along with documentaries on Anna Nicole Smith, Connor McGregor, and underwater performers.

Netflix has been at the forefront of bringing quality Korean dramas to a global audience in recent times. K-drama pieces like Squid Game and All Of Us Are Dead enthralled viewers when they became available on the streamer helping to bring to light the quality and talent in the Korean movie industry. While a number of K-dramas available on Netflix showcase the beauty of the country, the streamer's upcoming series is set in a dystopian future where Seoul no longer looks dazzling. Ahead of the premiere of the series Black Knight on May 12, Netflix has released the series' official trailer which teases a fight for hope.

Netflix has debuted the main official trailer for a new sci-fi series from Korea called Black Knight, adapted from the comic book series known as Delivery Knight. This will be available for streaming in May - and it looks legit. Black Knight is set in the year 2071, when it is impossible to live without a respirator due to extreme air pollution. The Korean peninsula is a wasteland, and delivery drivers play a crucial role in maintaining humanity. The legendary delivery man who goes by the name "5-8" with extraordinary fighting skills meets a refugee who dreams of becoming a delivery driver, the only hope of refugees. "In a world without air, a rebel knight delivers hope. The one hope to overturn the world." Starring Kim Woo-bin as 5-8, Kang Yoo-seok as Sa-wol, Esom, Song Seung-heon, Kim Eui-sung, Jin Kyung, Lee Hyuk-joo, and Lee Sang-hee.

"Black Knight" is a new live-action TV series, written and directed by Cho Ui-seok, adapting the 'webtoon' "Delivery Knight" by Lee Yoon-gyun, following 'Sa-wol' living in a dystopian country ravaged by air pollution making it uninhabitable without an oxygen mask, streaming May 12, 2023 on Netflix:
