    • Trivia
The original idea came to Mattie Rosen when they were Andrew Birchenough's roommate in college. The two of them were both fans of the movie review website Spill.com and noticed the similarity in appearance to the character Cyrus (voiced by Chris Cox). Rosen joked that he looked like he could be his long-lost father. This idea stayed dormant until the Spill-Dot-Con Film Festival in 2010, when it was revived as a short, absurd science fiction comedy. to make a short film contest based on any Spill.com character. If it weren't for the festival, it's possible the film would not have been made, at least in this context.
    • Alternate versions
There are two versions of the film: one is 7 1/2 minutes and is Jack Gattanella's preferred director's cut. It includes all of the explanation of "Cyrus the Great" and Guy's exhibits, and has a longer final scene where Guy and David have awkward dialog, then going off to play the Wii-Cast again. The other cut, a shorter 5 minute version submitted for the Spill-Dot-Con festival, omits the explanation with the exhibits and features instead a title card as Guy goes on his "Don't you get it!" monologue on how to see the rest of the film on whiplashfilm.com. It also has a short ending, and a couple of shots have been removed from Guy's trip in the basement to meet Cyrus the Great.
