I grew up with power rangers. Halloween, the MMPR switch helmet to head action figures, the DVD's. After Jetix was canceled, I didn't often watch power rangers unless someone posted a season online. For me Power Rangers was good until Overdrive, with the team-up as an exception. I've seen a good portion of the whole MMPR saga, so I can understand why there are so many similarities to the original.
Since this was going to be the first time on Nick, and the first power rangers show in a while, many things were kept same. At first I hated it so much, until I thought to lay off a bit. The theme; another rock based song with much guitar and GO-GO POWER RANGERS. While A LOT of people find this a cop out, its supposed to bring back to the good ol' days. Of course, BULK AND SKULL's nephew or something like that ARE BACK. But by now, Bulk should be in his 30's, 40's. I kind of liked when the two numbskulls were always playing Sherlock finding out who the rangers were in High School. He's not an idiot anymore, and he is not fighting the minions like in Zeo and in Space... He's changed, but still has some features of the original.
Now the show on its own...I do like that the actors themselves do have a bit more screen time to create more of a plot for the episode. I'll be honest it isn't that bad for some. Pinkie sounds like she's being like that red head from that Victorious show at times when she's unmorphed, like she's trying to create that voice. Yellow Ranger completely sounds fake. Sounds like she's trying even more than the pink ranger to have a fake voice and sound like an idiot. The red ranger is whom I have the biggest problem with. He just sounds so boring and monotone. Kind of like Vypra from Lightspeed, there is no energy in either of their voices. There it is, my attack, nuff said.
The effects are much worse than that of power rangers Ninja Storm and Time Force when they could run at fast speeds and animate monster attacks. It just looks ridiculous now as there seems to be more animation for the attacks as they get blown away real quickly.
The zords, look stupid. but somewhat make sense. Half resembles the appropriate animal, half resembles their symbol. Since these rangers' theme are Samurai and since Samurai are from Japan and since the rangers do emphasize the use of "symbol power", Japanese Characters, Why not have their symbols on their zords and helmets?
While not being the same as what I remember from being a kid, there are some good that has been done, some. Can't say I'd want to watch the who season online, but did feel like running onto ceilings as if I was 7 years old again. I'd rather stick with earlier works.
Lightspeed, Timeforce, and Ninjastorm FTW

Well what can i say, Saban have really done a great job with Power Rangers Samurai, it has a feeling of the "Zordon Era" and the stories and characters seem a lot easier to relate to than at times during the "disney era". The opening theme is a modified version of the original Mighty Morphin and this is definitely a good thing, a small negative is that the season's first episode is slightly different to normal first episodes but you will have to watch it to see what i mean. Overall a very good return for the Power Rangers and i hope you will watch and enjoy it like i do.

That theme song tells you all you need to know F in actually story telling A+ in fun
I WILL NOT avoid the fact that the acting and CGI is absolutely nuts and quite hilarious, but not gonna lie, this was AND STILL IS my go-to comfort show. Not as good as I remember it as a kid, but now as a young adult it still has that comforting charm for me. The nostalgia is extremely strong and I'm so glad I can rewatch it.
This.. was surprisingly the kinda stuff I watched and enjoyed as a kid. But as a teen, not at all. The acting is painfully bad, and the plot is a recycled piece of crap. They start out every episode happy, then oh no! A bad guy is causing trouble in the city. They fight him once but fail. They focus on one power ranger at a time for every episode to overcome that struggle, one to 3 dozen cheesy motivational lines later, they encounter their foe again. They beat him with what they learned, the foe grows bigger. They defeat him/her every time and turn to pose in their incredibly kiddish and poorly made CGI samurai mech as their enemy explodes. A very boring and predictable formula that makes very few variations between episodes. They change things up occasionally but there's no point cause you always know they're going to win. Not that every super hero eel movie/show doesn't do that but there are no twists, no good character developments, nothing. A very harmless show that is fine for kids but not great for teens/adults. But you'd be better off putting you and/or your kids in front of something like Avatar the Last Airbender, or Gravity Falls, or Star vs The Forces Of Evil.
Overall not the worst I've ever seen but far from the best.
