Aubrey Plaza is set to portray one of Hollywood's most infamous figures, Heidi Fleiss, in an upcoming film, the sensibly titled The Heidi Fleiss Story. Per Variety, theWhite Lotus star will not only lead the project but also produce it under her Evil Hag banner. The feature will be directed by Leah Rachel, the creator behind the polarizing Netflix supernatural thriller Chambers.

Fleiss became a notorious figure in the 1990s due to a headline-making scandal. In 1993, she was arrested and charged for running a high-end ring of sex workers that catered to wealthy and influential clients, some of whom were reportedly big names in the entertainment industry. Aubrey Plaza’s call sheet is about to get a lot longer, as she’s come on to produce and star in “The Heidi Fleiss Story.”

Plaza will portray the infamous “Hollywood madam” Heidi Fleiss, busted in the early ‘90s for what was said to be the world’s largest high-end prostitution ring – which implicated Hollywood, politicians and other power figures.

The project marks the directorial debut of Leah Rachel (creator of Netflix’s “Chambers”). The film hails from Pinky Promise, Jessamine Burgum and Kara Durrett’s production company.

Heatseeking actress and Gen Z icon Rachel Sennott co-wrote the script with Rachel and Travis Jackson. Their take on the tabloid sensation follows Fleiss before trial, scrambling around Los Angeles trying to blackmail and leverage various connections to get the case dropped, with the help of an aspiring young writer named Jaclyn.

The new Michael Jackson biopic, titled Michael, receives a disappointing update. Originally scheduled to arrive on April 18, 2025, the release date has been previously pushed to October 3, 2025, due to production changes. The new biopic stars Jackson's nephew, Jafaar Jackson, as the King of Pop, with a script by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan.

Produced by Oscar-winner Graham King (The Departed), the film is directed by Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer).

According to a press release shared by Lionsgate, Michael is now expected to arrive in theaters worldwide in IMAX on April 24, 2026, offering an intimate look at the life and legacy of Jackson. Lionsgate and Universal’s Michael Jackson biopic Michael is officially moving to Friday, April 24, and that’s a global theatrical release.

At the same time, we hear that a second movie about Jackson remains in development.

We told you at CinemaCon there were distribution plans afoot for the feature directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King. Michael also will get a release on Imax screens.

The delay with Michael has been twofold, one being its length — there was a first cut in excess of 3½ hours. There also have been reports that the initial cut of the movie made references to 13-year old Jordan Chandler, who accused Jackson of molestation and who the pop singer settled with for $20M in 1994 with no admission of guilt. The Jackson estate explicitly wanted nothing about Chandler in the film, which led to more shoots on the production. Three-time Oscar nominee John Logan penned the screenplay.

Lionsgate will handle domestic distribution for the film while Universal handles overseas with the exception of Japan, where it will be distributed by Kino Films. “Michael” will have global Imax support.

Historically, a Marvel Studios film has been set for release on the first weekend of May, but that won’t be the case in 2026 and 2027 as Disney has moved “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” out of that slot and into the holiday season.

Legendary Entertainment is eyeing a possible acquisition of Lionsgate Studios, TheWrap has learned.

Lionsgate, whose franchises include “The Hunger Games” and “John Wick,” split with Starz earlier this year. As it stands, the companies are potentially looking to work together on upcoming movies.

Netflix is gearing up for a wild new action comedy that brings together Jason Momoa and Andy Samberg for the first time. Vince Vaughn has shared an update regarding the long-awaited sequel to his 2004 sports comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. In the film, the actor played Peter Lafleur, a laid-back gym owner who enters a dodgeball competition in hopes of saving his business from foreclosure.

In April 2023, it was reported that a Dodgeball sequel was in early development at 20th Century Studios with Vaughn attached to reprise his role. Animaniacs revival writer Jordan VanDina was tapped to pen the script. Since then, fans haven’t received any updates about the project. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Vaughn confirmed that although they already have a "pretty good" idea for the story, nothing has really been set yet.

Legendary Entertainment has promoted longtime marketing executive Di Mu to CEO of Legendary East, the studio’s China-based promotion and marketing division responsible for overseeing local campaigns for both Legendary titles and select third-party releases. Mu will report directly to Legendary CEO Josh Grode.

“Di Mu has been an invaluable member of Legendary East, playing an integral role in the execution of our local campaigns in China,” Grode said in a statement. “Her knowledge of the market, creativity, and leadership make her the ideal person to lead our next chapter in the region.”

Honey Don’t! is getting ready to slide into theaters this summer.

Focus Features announced Wednesday that the dark comedy feature is set for wide theatrical release Aug. 22. Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, Charlie Day, Billy Eichner and Chris Evans round out the cast for director Ethan Coen’s movie.

Honey Don’t!, which is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, centers on Honey O’Donahue (Qualley), a small-town private investigator looking into deaths related to a mysterious church.

Coen helmed the film from a script he co-wrote with wife Tricia Cooke. The pair also co-wrote Coen’s 2024 crime comedy Drive-Away Dolls that starred Qualley, Geraldine Viswanathan and Pedro Pascal.

Producers for Honey Don’t! include Coen, Cooke, Robert Graf, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.

Vince Vaughn is cooking up a plan to share other families’ cherished recipes in the trailer for Netflix’s movie Nonnas.

Stephen Chbosky directed the fact-based comedy feature that begins streaming May 9. Rounding out the cast are Linda Cardellini, Lorraine Bracco, Talia Shire, Brenda Vaccaro, Joe Manganiello and Campbell Scott.

Nonnas centers on Joe Scaravella, who decides to alter his life path by starting an Italian restaurant that hires Italian grandmothers, aka “nonnas,” as the chefs. The story is based on the real-life Scaravella, the owner of Staten Island eatery Enoteca Maria and author of the 2015 cookbook Nonna’s House.

“I want them to make the dishes that they were passed on from their family,” Vaughn says in the trailer. “I want to share it with everybody.”

Levy had been without agency representation since leaving WME in November — at least in part over circumstances related to his upcoming Netflix series — with CAA quickly emerging as his likely destination. That has now been made official.
