Orange/Milk

Not the story itself is significant, in my case, but the feeling who like a veil, covers the film. Crumbs of many Romanian childhoods, an early friendship, remaining the same - or more powerful- across the years, beautiful cinematography, minimalistic performances, old games and the expected end. A short film keeping the powerful Romanian cinematography mark, influences from late "80-s, faces, gestures and dialogues. But, out of familiarity, the film gives a touching portrait of a deep reality, poetic , bitter, version of perfect happiness, not convincing for a large public but, in my case, working well as a beautiful embroidery of emotions.

I have to admit that at eleven minutes I started to fast forward. I didn't miss much.

The film is played out in the present day and in flashback as the two friends who've known each other from childhood grow up, get close, separate and come together again. Part of their relationship is an obsession with spying on people using sophisticated surveillance equipment and imagining what those people are saying and thinking.

It didn't work for me. Without the somewhat grotesque eavesdropping there was nothing to this film at all. And with it, I just couldn''t understand why it had been grafted on.

The ending was happy but will it last? I didn't care.
