Can a comedy cartoon create suspense in under 5 minutes? Yes, terrifyingly so.

Episode 4 of Smiling Friends is a brilliant example of how even a short animated comedy can be deeply immersive and genuinely scary. What starts as a simple, silly errand quickly becomes a disturbing trip through a nightmarish world. The atmosphere is thick with unease, and the design of both the world and its characters is bursting with creativity. The mix of surreal horror and dark humor is masterfully done. It's funny, it's weird, and somehow it gets under your skin. This episode pushes boundaries in all the right ways. A must-watch. 10/10.

I wouldn't imagine to be so immersed in this cartoonish world.

    Hugely underrated masterpiece

A Silly Halloween Special is a very different episode out of all the bunch, which isn't out of the ordinary for this show to be fair. This, however, can lead to some very conflicting takes on this episode. In my personal opinion, it's one of the best episodes in the series.

How this episode genuinely took a turn for the horror, with little to no jokes, just for that completely tone-shifting ending, is absolutely brilliant. The gags in the second act are amazingly hilarious, but the episode specifically doesn't include a ton just for that ending punchline.

This episode is a subversive masterpiece that you absolutely have to watch.

Ranking it at #6 out of the 16 episodes out so far.

Meh episode with an amazing ending

So this show is absolutely incredible man however this is the only low key dud in the bunch... Its not bad but its very mediocre and not very funny expect for the ending which is hilarious and almost makes it worth it!

    Every second is a gem

This show is truly unlike anything I've seen but it just works, this episode especially. The animation and ending of this episode especially shine. This has to be my favorite episode so far.

    • Quotes

Party Bro: Woah, is that fucking blackface, dude?

Forest Demon: No, no, no, this isn't blackface, I'm an actual demon.

Party Bro: Bro, please tell me that's not blackface.

Witch Partygoer: Are you fucking serious?

      Zombie Partygoer: Not cool, man.

Forest Demon: No, no, no, no. You don't understand. I'm literally a forest demon from across the bridge. This isn't a costume.

Partygoer Without Spirit: Get the fuck out, man!

[the Forest Demon is punched down to the ground, where he is then torn apart limb by limb and eaten by the majority of people there, eventually being turned into a bonfire.]

    • Crazy credits
In each episode, at the credits, a gag with an "In Loving Memory" plays showing either an episode's character or a fictional person.
