Oh man. I had a stank face going the entire episode. It felt like a completely different show. First off, enough with the kiddie factor. We saw that didn't work well in TWD: World Beyond. Kids will NOT be kickin' ass in an apocalypse. Second, totally unbelievable character 180s. No way in hell Morgan is just gonna give up Mo cause he's stuck in a swamp. "Oh man I'm stuck. You take her." B. S. And the same for Grace. They didn't go through all that strife, hell, and hardship just to give her up... and least of all to PADRE. Who they now work for??What?? Is this some lame separation set up so we can have a contrived reunion down the road?! Bah. Boring, convoluted, and confusing with the time jump and characters flip flopping (especially Wren/Mo). Ugh, I felt like I was the one stuck in a swamp.
Just before I get into it, here's a quick summary of my review:
this show still sucks!
No, no it won't get better, but I'm gonna keep watching it, you know why? BECAUSE KIM DICKENS IS BACK.
What's there to say really, just the same old fear. I don't really have any energy left for this show so I'm surprised I'm even ATTEMPTING to type yet another review for this awful show.
Most of the time all I here is BLAH BLAH BLAH goddddd this show needs to be cancelled, wait, season 8 is the last season? THANK THE LORD 🙏
This is the beginning of the end everyone!!!
(by everyone I mean me and the other 14 people who still watch this garbage)
Kim Dickens is still beautiful. Madison Clark OWNS Fear.
See you all next week! (Kill me)

My goodness. The acting and dialogue are atrocious. Thank goodness this is the last season.
Right now, I am just watching this for the sake of completion.
It's just getting more and more cringey and non-sensical as each episode passes by.
The child actors cannot act and emote.
The older actors couldn't be bothered anymore and they only seem to do this one last season not because they still wanna do this show, but more because they are contracted to do it.
Hopefully no spin-off show springs from this one, because even inserting popular characters from the original Walking Dead cannot save it.
I am so happy that this is its last season.

The showrunners really took Fear and ran it into the ground. First couple seasons were decent but honestly it was all downhill from the first. There were some high points like Dory but then they killed him off, so...
Then this Season 8 opener. Wow, just bad. Why is everyone wearing fencing masks, just like around camp? And why are they sparring while wearing them, but forgoing any other kind of protection? I mean, if you're not padding up, why bother with face masks either?
Don't get me started on Morgan and Madison... two characters who always seem to think their way is the only way, and they'll kill anyone who thinks otherwise. Put those two together and ... well, it fizzled, so never mind. They seemed just as sure as ever about "I'm always right" but then they do these constant about faces in the span of one episode.
The girl's acting is terrible... I feel bad telling a little kid they can't act, but without constructive criticism, there's no improvement. Take that as a hint to enroll in some acting classes.
There's just so much wrong with this. It's wrong that I feel like I *have* to watch just because Fear is part of TWD universe, but honestly I'm this close to just calling it quits on the whole thing. Forget Dead City, forget Daryl's spin off, forget Fear most of all. I felt that way with World Beyond and the World's Most Annoying Kids but I suffered through. I don't know if I can go through that agony again.

I was really excited for season 8 to start, but that excitement quickly faded within the first few minutes of episode 1. It seems that the actors who play Morgan Jones and Madison Clark, have suddenly forgotten how to act. And the writing for this episode was even worse than the acting. And why does any show that has Walking Dead in their title, really think we need another annoying bratty kid? I have been watching Fear The Walking Dead since the very beginning and I was hoping to stick it out till the very end, but this first episode is so awful I am not sure I can get through even one more episode.

- TriviaIn the Fear the Walking Dead Insider, showrunner Andrew Chambliss said PADRE is all about putting the settlement first, putting the community first... in many ways we thought of it as a modern day Sparta, where the children were taken, and were raised in barracks, and were taught how to fight, were taught to put the city- state first.
