Jena Friedman in True Crime Story: Indefensible (2021)
Jena Friedman travels the country in this true crime series. It's less of a whodunit and more of a "Why does this keep happening?" show. She digs deep to learn how these cases reveal the flaws in our sometimes dysfunctional criminal justice system.

    Get a different host

I actually don't mind the sarcasm the host brings... but her lisp is super annoying!!! (Dear lord have we hit the real-life Harrison Bergeron moment of hosts that aren't the best?😬) Also, she's super agressive and condescending in her interviewing.... and with a more professional interviewer, they could prob have a better outcome and more thoughtful discussions. This would make it a much better series!

But I gave it a higher score than 1-for-the-awful-host because I do like the material and what it's trying to expose! With a better and more professional presenter, this could actually be a great series.

Jena is a GREAT host, she's hilarious and quick witted

If you're looking for something that tries to solve a case or uncover the truth this isn't really for you. Jena interviews lawmakers and lawyers in such a way to make a joke out of their ignorance. She's like a smart Borat. She really tries to show how these men- lawmakers and lawyers- have really done society and in particular women and minorities wrong. It's so liberating to see these men being exposed for their flagrant misogyny. It's a very relatable and resonating show. As for the comments saying they need a new host, I think maybe they just don't find the show as liberating and relatable as I do.

    Jenna

Let's focus on the content and the material of the show instead of the host. Television is just that. The suspennsion of disbelief. As a survivor of true crime, I can tell you that if these people are like me, they do not want to relive the experience by talking about it with her or anyone else. I have been approached several times to tell my story and I don't want to relive it. Focus instead on the miscarriage of justice and what you can do to prevent these things from happening to you or your loved ones and pray that you don't end up like me or the survivors on the show. Bottom line if you don't like the show ok simple! Don't watch it.

    Get rid of the host

I couldn't even get beyond S01E01. She seems to have come to a conclusion about what she hopes to investigate even before she has started. She may be digging at the truth, and that is commendable, but you can see that she already has a bias and is pushing her own theory before unfolding the facts. The tone of flippancy and sarcasm is appalling. Along with, or maybe because of, her absolute disdain for the people she interview. She seems to be full of conceit that it overwhelms any of the validity of what she is trying to prove. It might be better if someone else were to do the narrative. If only for that annoying voice.

    Get a new host.

I like the humor.. it's just not in the show.. sorry. Get a new host who actually has some empathy to the victims and victims families and friends. I'd give the show more stars if it was someone different or if she took it more seriously. Which I know she's a comedian, so that's what she's supposed to do, but I just don't enjoy it on this show. I enjoyed Hilarie on her birthday episodes.
