Though not widely regarded as the best "Harry Potter" movie by any means, being first clear counts for a lot. Digging deeper into the numbers, director Christopher Columbus' film reached nearly 20% of Warner Bros. Discovery's total subscriber base, which is pretty remarkable.

The show, which features pairs of bakers whipping up magical Potter-inspired creations in a competition format, is set to air in the U.S. on Food Network and Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform Max from Nov. 14. New episodes will drop weekly.

It will be available on Prime Video in the U.K. from December, with an exact transmission date still being kept under wraps.

Internationally, “Wizards of Baking” will be on Max in territories where the streamer is available.

However, with Max not yet available in the U.K., in part due to Wbd’s longrunning and lucrative output deal with Comcast-owned broadcaster Sky, it seemed likely the show would land on Sky and its streaming platform Now.

Rupert Grint is opening up about playing the beloved Ron Weasley for a decade and his reasons behind choosing his more recent projects.

In an interview with Bustle magazine, published online Monday, the actor said playing the infamous character in the Harry Potter franchise from age 11 to 22 “was quite suffocating.”

He explained that he started to find it difficult to find the line between himself and the character, saying, “In the movies, we merged into one. By the end of it, I was playing myself. The lines were blurred.” He added that he even answers if something calls him Ron.

“Potter was so full on — [filming] all year, then we’d promote the rest of the time,” he continued. While Grint is appreciative of all the opportunities he received, he said he, “wanted a break to reflect on everything. … It was an out-of-body experience for a while, but I think we finished at the right time.

Ralph Fiennes has defended J.K. Rowling over her controversial stance on transgender rights.

Fiennes, who played the villainous Lord Voldemort across four Harry Potter films, told The New York Times Magazine that the “verbal abuse” Rowling receives online is “disgusting” and “appalling.”

Added Fiennes: “I mean, I can understand a viewpoint that might be angry at what she says about women. But [she’s] not some obscene, über-right-wing fascist. It’s just a woman saying, ‘I’m a woman and I feel I’m a woman and I want to be able to say that I’m a woman.’ And I understand where she’s coming from. Even though I’m not a woman.”

The controversy began in June 2020 when the author of the mega-popular Harry Potter books first tweeted about an op-ed piece regarding “people who menstruate” and mocked the story for not using the word “women.

Robbie Coltrane tearfully reflects on starring in the Harry Potter films in his last known appearance on film.

The actor died aged 72 on Friday 14 October. A cause of death has not yet been revealed. Stephen Fry and Jk Rowling were among the first stars to pay tribute to the actor.

On New Year’s Day this year, HBO Max and Sky released a special, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, which saw many of the film’s cast get back together to reflect on their memories on set, two decades after the release of the first film in the franchise, The Philosopher’s Stone.

The cast of Harry Potter are mourning the death of Robbie Coltrane.

It was announced on Friday that Coltrane passed away at the age of 72. “As well as being a wonderful actor, he was forensically intelligent and brilliantly witty, and after 40 years of being proud to be called his agent, I shall miss him,” Coltrane’s agent Belinda Wright said of the actor in a statement.

Despite having varied film and television credits, Coltrane’s most notable role was his portrayal of Rubeus Hagrid, the giant groundskeeper at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, in the Harry Potter films, beginning with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001.

Top Gun: Maverick, The Batman, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Dune are among the movies that received multiple Hpa (Hollywood Professional Association) Award nominations. The annual Hpa Awards recognizes postproduction talent in areas including color grading, editing, sound and visual effects.

The voting period runs from September to September, meaning that some of last year’s award season films will compete against this year’s contenders.

The awards will be handed out Nov. 17 at the Hollywood Legion Theater.

Jason Isaacs and Tom Felton have given fans an adorable Malfoy family reunion.

The two stars – who played evil wizard Lucius Malfoy and his son, Draco, in the Harry Potter films – snapped a picture together over the weekend.

On Saturday (3 September), Isaacs went out to support his on-screen son, who is currently starring in the West End play, 2:22 A Ghost Story.

Both actors shared photos of the reunion to Instagram, with Isaacs stating how “proud” he was of Felton.

Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine has launched an unscripted unit in the U.K.

The Candle Media-backed studio has appointed former Channel 4 head of features and formats Sarah Lazenby to lead the division as executive VP of unscripted U.K. She will report into Hello Sunshine’s head of unscripted Sara Rea, who joined the studio following the acquisition of her company Skr Productions.

As part of the expansion, Hello Sunshine Unscripted U.K. is currently developing its first production with “It’s a Sin” broadcaster Channel 4.

The move into the U.K., particularly for unscripted, is a sound move for Hello Sunshine, and follows similar drives by companies such as Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton’s HiddenLight Productions, which have similarly been keen to work with the U.K.’s world-leading factual and non-scripted production community.

Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine is headed for Britain. The Candle Media-owned production company is launching an unscripted division in the UK, and is already developing its first production with terrestrial network Channel 4.

Hello Sunshine Unscripted UK will be led by Sarah Lazenby, a former Channel 4 Head of Features and Formats who left the broadcaster last year. While at the British public service broadcaster, she oversaw major titles such as The Great British Bake Off, Jamie Oliver’s programs and formats such as Flirty Dancing and Netflix co-pro Crazy Delicious. More recently she produced HBO’s Emmy-nominated retrospective special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.

Lazenby will be Executive Vice President, Unscripted UK and report to Hello Sunshine’s Head of Unscripted Sara Rea. Hello Sunshine last year acquired Rea’s company Skr Productions, which was behind Prime Video’s Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn series Making the Cut.
