Jk Rowling may have just taken a veiled swipe at Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint – the trio that led the live-action adaptation of her books of the same name.
Basically, she’s blaming them for spoiling ‘Harry Potter’ for her, and possibly for many other fans around the world. The good news is that Rowling gets to have a do-over with the upcoming HBO series adaptation of the beloved fantasy novels.
But what did Jk Rowling actually say about the movie stars?

This may not come as a huge surprise, but it turns out that the "Harry Potter" movies are remarkably popular. To clarify, despite the fact that the first movie based on J.K. Rowling's best-selling books came out nearly 25 years ago, it remains a streaming juggernaut. To that end, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," aka "The Philosopher's Stone" outside of the U.S., was one of the most popular streaming titles in 2024.
According to numbers provided by Digital-i, (via Deadline), "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" was viewed over 40 million times on the Max streaming service last year. Though not widely regarded as the best "Harry Potter" movie by any means, being first clear counts for a lot. Digging deeper into the numbers, director Christopher Columbus' film reached nearly 20% of Warner Bros. Discovery's total subscriber base, which is pretty remarkable.

“Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking” has been acquired by Prime Video for the U.K.
The show, which features pairs of bakers whipping up magical Potter-inspired creations in a competition format, is set to air in the U.S. on Food Network and Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform Max from Nov. 14. New episodes will drop weekly.
It will be available on Prime Video in the U.K. from December, with an exact transmission date still being kept under wraps.
Internationally, “Wizards of Baking” will be on Max in territories where the streamer is available.
However, with Max not yet available in the U.K., in part due to Wbd’s longrunning and lucrative output deal with Comcast-owned broadcaster Sky, it seemed likely the show would land on Sky and its streaming platform Now.

In the magical world of Harry Potter, where enchantments and fantastical creatures abound, there’s one delightful tale that stands out, not for its wizarding wonder, but for its heartwarming human touch. Revolving around the late actor Richard Harris, the anecdote highlights his innocence and charming misconception about his character’s mystical companion, Fawkes the Phoenix.

Bringing the venerable Albus Dumbledore to life in the first two Harry Potter films, Richard Harris came across the truly stunning creature called Fawkes, who was Dumbledore’s pet phoenix. Rupert Grint and Afshan Azad reunite 19 years after their Yule Ball scene in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Azad shares a photo on Instagram, highlighting their transformation over the years. Grint failed to ask Azad to dance after 19 years, and she teased that parenthood changed them.
The Yule Ball is a momentous occasion in the world of Harry Potter, and Rupert Grint is now honoring his experience with it. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Grint played the comedic Ron Weasley, who partnered with Padma Patil (Afshan Azad) for the ball. Their date was unsuccessful, as Padma eventually left Ron when he refused to dance. Still, given that Goblet of Fire made $896.8 million at the box office, and the movies are popular enough to spawn a Harry Potter revival show, it left an impression.

Harry Potter is undoubtedly one of the best books ever to be written and the best fantasy movies ever to have been made. Everything from the visuals to the storyline, the production beautifully captured the very essence of the books and literally brought magic to the big screen. While it was Jk Rowling and her touch that ultimately made the movies successful, it was also the persistence and determination of the young cast members that made the movies a beloved part of cinema today.

"Noah" continued Emma Watson's poor Rotten Tomatoes streak since it has a 41 percent Audience Score on the website. The 2014 epic biblical drama received mixed reviews; critics praised it, but audiences disagreed. Watson redeemed herself in 2019 with "Little Women," earning critical acclaim and fantastic Rotten Tomatoes scores.

It's been over a decade since the last Harry Potter movie came out in theaters in 2011. Sob if you need to, but the good news is that the actors are still friends with each other. Many of them even reunited on screen in Max's reunion special, "Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts," in 2022, which saw them reliving secret crushes on each other and bonding over the surreal experience of being a part of one of the biggest franchises in the world.
Over the years, the cast has also reunited off screen many times. Tom Felton, in particular, has been fabulously reliable about sharing updates on his friendships with cast members. He's posted proof of reunions all over Instagram, and even wrote about his friendships in his 2022 memoir "Beyond the Wand," recalling how he and Emma Watson first met during the auditioning process. Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts celebrated the franchise's first installment and included actors, directors, and producers sharing their experiences and memories. J.K. It's been said before, it'll be said again: so much of casting involves typecasting, where an actor lands a part not just for their ability but for their looks and overall vibe. Many's the occasion where a director has picked an actor for a role after just holding a general meeting with them or even after seeing them merely walk into an audition room.
Of course, for the actor, this can be a double-edged sword. Actors need to work, no doubt, yet they also want to be fulfilled by the work and not feel like they're doing the same thing over and over again. One such actor was the late Robbie Coltrane, who began his career proving his versatility on stage as well as in the alternative comedy series "The Comic Strip Presents." That versatility led to further roles in film and television, particularly as characters who were highly colorful; in other words,...

AI art imagines the cast of Harry Potter as adorable toddlers, and the accuracy is mind-blowing. The film franchise, based on J.K. Rowling's novels, began back in 2001 and explored the growth of Harry and other students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Many characters were introduced at a young age, though their lives prior to Hogwarts were not as much of a focus. Throughout the series, the cast of Harry Potter included Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, Matthew Lewis, Robbie Coltrane and more.
One Instagram account, with the username benmornin, is depicting some of Harry Potter's characters as toddlers through AI. Check out the photos below:

The cast not only looks adorable at this age, but the images are surprisingly accurate, portraying Harry, Hermione, Ron, Draco, Neville, Luna, Hagrid, and others in a way that is believable.

Rupert Grint is opening up about playing the beloved Ron Weasley for a decade and his reasons behind choosing his more recent projects.
In an interview with Bustle magazine, published online Monday, the actor said playing the infamous character in the Harry Potter franchise from age 11 to 22 “was quite suffocating.”
He explained that he started to find it difficult to find the line between himself and the character, saying, “In the movies, we merged into one. By the end of it, I was playing myself. The lines were blurred.” He added that he even answers if something calls him Ron.
“Potter was so full on — [filming] all year, then we’d promote the rest of the time,” he continued. While Grint is appreciative of all the opportunities he received, he said he, “wanted a break to reflect on everything. … It was an out-of-body experience for a while, but I think we finished at the right time.

Ralph Fiennes has defended J.K. Rowling over her controversial stance on transgender rights.
Fiennes, who played the villainous Lord Voldemort across four Harry Potter films, told The New York Times Magazine that the “verbal abuse” Rowling receives online is “disgusting” and “appalling.”
Added Fiennes: “I mean, I can understand a viewpoint that might be angry at what she says about women. But [she’s] not some obscene, über-right-wing fascist. It’s just a woman saying, ‘I’m a woman and I feel I’m a woman and I want to be able to say that I’m a woman.’ And I understand where she’s coming from. Even though I’m not a woman.”
The controversy began in June 2020 when the author of the mega-popular Harry Potter books first tweeted about an op-ed piece regarding “people who menstruate” and mocked the story for not using the word “women.

Harry Potter franchise star Tom Felton talks his relationship with co-star Daniel Radcliffe. Radcliffe played the titular Chosen One in the film series, which started with the 2001 film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Based on J.K. Rowling's novels of the same name, the Harry Potter films became a sensation over its eight-film run, which ended in 2011. The story follows Harry as he learns of his wizarding heritage and attends a magical school with his two best friends, Hermione (Emma Watson) and Ron (Rupert Grint). Harry contended with central villain Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) throughout the series, as well as facing multiple antagonists including Draco (Felton) and Snape (Alan Rickman).
Felton was cast in the first film at 12 years old, acting as a spoiled pureblood wizard belonging to Slytherin House. Outside Slytherin's long-standing rivalry with Harry's own Gryffindor House, Harry and Draco had their own, personal vendetta that stemmed from many places,...

The actor died aged 72 on Friday 14 October. A cause of death has not yet been revealed. Stephen Fry and Jk Rowling were among the first stars to pay tribute to the actor.
On New Year’s Day this year, HBO Max and Sky released a special, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, which saw many of the film’s cast get back together to reflect on their memories on set, two decades after the release of the first film in the franchise, The Philosopher’s Stone.
At one point during the reunion, Coltrane – who played Hagrid in the franchise – talked about the legacy of the Harry Potter films.

The cast of Harry Potter are mourning the death of Robbie Coltrane.
It was announced on Friday that Coltrane passed away at the age of 72. “As well as being a wonderful actor, he was forensically intelligent and brilliantly witty, and after 40 years of being proud to be called his agent, I shall miss him,” Coltrane’s agent Belinda Wright said of the actor in a statement.
Despite having varied film and television credits, Coltrane’s most notable role was his portrayal of Rubeus Hagrid, the giant groundskeeper at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, in the Harry Potter films, beginning with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001.

J.K. Rowling has been persona non grata ever since she went public with her transphobic views back in 2020. This is why it was no surprise when she didn’t appear on the highly anticipated Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts reunion special that aired on January 1, 2022. Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson both publicly condemned the author when she first made her Terf (Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminism) views known. With this in mind, no one expected the infamous writer to appear at the reunion special, but Rowling wanted everyone to know that she was invited. In an August 27 interview with Graham Norton for his Virgin Radio UK show, she addressed the rumors. “I was asked to be on that and I decided I didn’t want to do it. I thought it was about the films more than the book, quite rightly, that was what the anniversary was about…...

J.K. Rowling has explained her conspicuous absence from “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” stating that she declined an invitation to be included in the special.
The author of the original “Harry Potter” series only appeared within a few excerpts of “Return to Hogwarts” via segments from a 2019 interview. Her limited presence was noted by critics and audiences around the special’s HBO Max premiere on Jan. 1 this year.
Some viewers presumed that Rowling’s absence could be attributed to her troubled public image over the past few years. The author has been mired in controversy as she continues to voice sentiments that have been seen as harmful to the trans community, such as opposing laws that would make it easier for trans people to legally change their gender. Franchise stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have made public statements in support of the trans community since Rowling first faced controversy.

Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine has launched an unscripted unit in the U.K.
The Candle Media-backed studio has appointed former Channel 4 head of features and formats Sarah Lazenby to lead the division as executive VP of unscripted U.K. She will report into Hello Sunshine’s head of unscripted Sara Rea, who joined the studio following the acquisition of her company Skr Productions.
As part of the expansion, Hello Sunshine Unscripted U.K. is currently developing its first production with “It’s a Sin” broadcaster Channel 4.
The move into the U.K., particularly for unscripted, is a sound move for Hello Sunshine, and follows similar drives by companies such as Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton’s HiddenLight Productions, which have similarly been keen to work with the U.K.’s world-leading factual and non-scripted production community.
At Channel 4, Lazenby was responsible for overseeing a large unscripted slate that...

Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine is headed for Britain. The Candle Media-owned production company is launching an unscripted division in the UK, and is already developing its first production with terrestrial network Channel 4.
Hello Sunshine Unscripted UK will be led by Sarah Lazenby, a former Channel 4 Head of Features and Formats who left the broadcaster last year. While at the British public service broadcaster, she oversaw major titles such as The Great British Bake Off, Jamie Oliver’s programs and formats such as Flirty Dancing and Netflix co-pro Crazy Delicious. More recently she produced HBO’s Emmy-nominated retrospective special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.
Lazenby will be Executive Vice President, Unscripted UK and report to Hello Sunshine’s Head of Unscripted Sara Rea. Hello Sunshine last year acquired Rea’s company Skr Productions, which was behind Prime Video’s Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn series Making the Cut.
