Not everybody likes a big deal comic book movie, such as MCU and DCU and most of all, these characters are based on forgotten comic book character ...so what are you gonna do.
Yes the film is low budget and so forth..ya dah ya dah ya dah, but at least the director gave it a try and done ...
Everybody wants to make a superhero movie, so why not make forgotten ones.

On Tubi, this is titled "The Black Scarab", so I thought it was a knockoff of The Blue Beetle. When the opening credits started, the title on screen said "Avenging Guardians", which also popped up when the movie returned after each ad break (tubi).
The reviews giving this movie a 10 seem extremely sarcastic with the hyperbole. But I can't imagine why those reviewers think it's funny to try to bump up the overall rating. Or maybe those were written by the makers of this basement creation.
Anyway, basically a bunch of guys in their 40s decided they wanted to play superhero in the backyard and make it into a movie. One of them talked their job into letting them use the warehouse for scenes, and aomehow they got a few girls to go along with the whole thing. Longest drawnout opening ever with borrowed 'earth from space' footage. It's suppoeed to be dramatic but was my first clue that this was going to be bad. Seriously subpar filming quality, over-the-top cheesy script, worst acting I've seen across an entire movie (usually one person can pull their weight), poor special effects (not unexpected given the low budget and run time), and ridiculous costumes - rubber eye frame disguises, a borrowed batman helmet with the ears sanded down, black eye paint, etc. You get the drift. There was one decent fight scene near the beginning, but the rest were very poorly executed with obvious fake punches and overly dramatic falls.
I wasted my time and stuck with it because I had time to kill for a quick flick before needing to go out, I also tend to be a completionist with movies, but I was tempted to turn it off about 12 minutes in because it was so bad.

When I first watched this I wasn't so sure about it's quality but as I am now on my 312th viewing I would consider this one of the 14 best movies of all time. I would like to point out the performance by Mark Courneyea.. It was an enlightening experience and every time I think about this movie I cry just a little.
It is unusual that a super hero can be so bad as to have to stop watching it less than 15 minutes into the film. This however is such a a movie and if able to leave less than one star I would have. The acting is worse than a grade school drama project. It is likely I spent more time writing this review than the time and effort put into the script. I don't mind the comic book characters are not mainstream. It is sad that fan films show greater effort than productions such as this one. This production should have never ever made it out of the editing room without simply being scrapped. Alas viewers have to suffer.
Starring : Mark Redfield. You know you're being entertained with 'silver age comic book' heroes like Scarab,Black Terror and Double Dare. This film besides the subject being related to an old comic,Is very serious in tone. The effects are cheap,But edge of the computer tech accomplishment. Costumes are best feature with an authentic ring.
Acting,'Scarab' actor kind of looks like Donny Osmond,Female lead 'RED' may be too young for role,'Black Terror' actor stole the movie except when MARK REDFIELD did his 'Nick Fury-ish' turn.
Brett Kelly is quite a candidate for triple threat of 'Direct To Video' film-making,This Canadian effort is quite a teaser for Seth Rogen's "GREEN HORNET" and a possible webisode series of AVENGING FORCE.

- TriviaThe character Bart Hill goes by the code-name Double Dare in the movie. His original comic incarnation was known as Daredevil. However, due to licensing issues with Marvel's hero of the same name, this version uses the code-name that comic writer Roy Thomas gave Hill during the series Alter Ego in the mid 1980's.
