A Double Life

This movie is an important view of the importance of non-violent activism and the justice system needed to preserve what America stands for. It skillfully displays the truth of our past, warts and all and delivers a hopeful message about taking a stand for what's right.

It was quite a trip to dig deep into this part of our country's history and learn so much about those times. And it's so important to see Stephen Bingham's story of perseverance through a sacrifice of self and loss of those he held dear with no drop in dignity or drive; how it all fits within the civil and human rights picture of the US in those days and so many important causes that have had Steve's attention over the years.

This is a compelling and moving film. It tells the important story of a movement lawyer, Steve Bingham, who continues to work for justice and live a full life while being hunted. It highlights the stark inequalities in our country and the prison system while through the words of family, friends, and others demonstrates the importance of working in community to try to make changes. The film educates us about important struggles in the 1960's, 70's and 80's and their importance today. Interviews with Steve himself and the footage from his childhood and life underground are inspiring and give an in depth sense of who he is and how he has overcome difficult times.
