Title says it all. Knew they were going to kill off the stars of this show early...but this episode was awful for so many other reasons. I can deal with that bait-and-switch, as long as the other actors are doing well, but Patton's acting was phoned in here.
Really hoping the next episode makes up for this one. If it doesn't, then I'm dropping this series, sadly. Don't know what we're going to do while waiting for Star Trek's Strange New Worlds to finally pick up again.
This thing with only 8 - 10 episodes, then wait for over a year or two for another season is just baloney. Makes it tough to feel sorry for the writer's striking.

Losing interest rapidly. Ferguson is an absolute queen but even that isn't enough to sustain interest when the plotting is so glacial and the dialogue so tedious. Does Apple think it has discovered a new, superior way of lighting TV shows because I have news for them - they haven't. This and Succession are so dark at times you may as well just listen to it and switch off the visuals. There are literally scenes where 90% of the screen is total blackness. Which idiot thought that was a good idea and did they used to work in radio?
I like the premise but the characters are just not compelling enough to overcome a plot that is barely offering any interest at all. I'll give it one more episode and then unless things change, I'm out.

Absolutely nothing happens in this episode If this episode had been written by CHATGPT it would be better. Boring flashbacks that don't advance the story, shallow conflicts that are just cheap arguments and half the episode with the Sheriff's assistant crying and suffering over the mayor's death. Mexican soap operas are better. The writers of this series shouldn't go on strike, they should thank God for getting paid to write this piece of rubbish.

My husband knows I've read these books multiple times and that I've looked forward to a screen version for years. He asks how the plot compares to the book. He occasionally asks a question and if there's no spoiler, I fill in some gaps. So when he asked, "Is it just me, or was this episode really slow without any story?"
"Honey, I got nothing. I don't even know what story we were watching because it sure wasn't Silo."
Who is this guy and what did they do with Marnes? What a Grade A jerk they've turned him into! You can be sure it's part of the "character development" to bring him on side, but if they halfway follow the story, it soon won't matter.
From the way Sandy and Jules interact, it's clear the writers aren't content to let conflict flow naturally - and realistically - as it does in the original. In the book, you sympathize with both women. In the series, you don't care for either of them and certainly wouldn't invite either over to dinner. One big cat fight is sure to ensue. RrrrrrrOOWWW!
And what's with Sims? And why are they so buddy buddy? Judicial hardly gets a mention, but now they're obviously supposed to be the Bad Guys, especially since Sims seems to have been shifted out of IT to Judicial for the screen version. Who is this Judge Meadows we had to make up because the REALLY bad guy we already KNOW to be a bad guy isn't nearly bad enough?
If your plan is to come back and binge this series later, you can safely skip this one and you won't miss a thing. And you'll save yourself the question of where the heck the (TOTALLY out of place) beer came from.

After the nice worldbuilding of the pilot, this series seems to have settled into a moderately okay 7/10 range. Good enough to keep me watching, but it definitely reminds me of the just-okay sci fi series I used to see on cable, and not nearly as good as Apple's other genre series - Severance and For All Mankind. Or as out-there as Foundation. I guess I'm spoiled.
Juliette's backstory is nothing special and the guy who plays her father can't act or do anything close to an American accent (why are they making these poor actors fake accents they can't handle?) The crusty old broad in the machine shop is fun. The in-your-face caste system where everyone looks down on people at the lower level is too hokey.
The beer kinda threw me. Do they have a beer bottling plant on the premises? Okay they could be growing hops and brewing beer. They could carefully save and reuse all the bottles, or even manufacture new ones from recycled glass. Okay it gets a pass, they have beer.
Cmon folks, let's take a walk outside and see what's really going on! I miss Rashida Jones' Allison. She should have been the main character. Of course she's still alive and probably eating hot fudge sundaes at the amusement park right over that hill. Suckers.
