I have to give credit to the producer. He had a vision of making a little Horror flick with heart, and he made lemonade out of lemons. This film is entertaining for the low-budget indie audience. "Bloodwood Cannibals" certainly won't be nominated for an Oscar, but I could see this little film easily becoming a cult classic. There were two actors I thought gave decent performances. Some of the other's should either take classes, or never show themselves in public again. The blood, guts, violence & gore were amusing & I laughed. Some of the special effects were terrible, yet I understood what the director was aiming for. The story was written well, and the scenery throughout the film is quite beautiful. We all have to start somewhere in our career. Johnny Depp's first role in "Private Resort" is a prime example. This is the type of film I'd watch again with friends to share a few laughs.
The idea in this movie is good where a Bigfoot documentary goes bad. The problem is that the writing is terrible. I think the writer wanted to make a horror/comedy but the jokes and humor are poor. It is really lazy and uninspired. Along with that, the acting and direction are really awkward.
I would have given this one a one-star review except for the kills. They are so over-the-top and goofy that they make the movie fun to watch. The first one where Jane Doe dies really sets the tone. I almost gave up on this until that kill. These are the only reason to watch this movie, but that's ok.

This is a movie that interested me from the time I picked up the DVD case. My wife and I watched the movie and enjoyed the storyline. I will not give away the story but it is a good twist on the cannibal genre. If you truly want to enjoy this movie, be sure to watch the extras and go to the websites that are mentioned. The acting is what it is. The special effects are good for the budget. I would to see more about the background of the character Nigel. I would like to know what exactly happened to him that made him famous. I hope there is a sequel, or a prequel. I will definitely be waiting for it. I hope they have a bigger budget for the next movie, I know the director has the right ideas to change cannibal movies for the better.
I wasn't expecting much from a movie with a cheesy title like "Bloodwood Cannibals" but I was pleasantly surprised by this DVD. The story follows a monster hunting film crew who are faking a documentary about Bigfoot when they find a crazy half naked woman in the forest. They attempt to "rescue" her, things go wrong, and violent mayhem ensues. Scalpings, gut-ripping, dismemberment... all the good stuff.
The movie is clearly low budget, but the zany mix of laughs and scares make it a really fun ride. If you go in wanting a movie like "Cannibal Holocaust" you'll be disappointed. But if you like crazy little indie films in the splat-stick vein, this movie is a fun one to watch with friends.

This movie will not get an Oscar. But, I absolutely loved watching it. Three times so far. It's a wonderful, absolutely perfect B-Movie, independent horror movie. Great, bloody gore, boobies, and above all, an enthusiasm by the actors and film makers that makes it incredible. Yes, it's not as fast paced as today's MTV audience would like, but I was never bored. This movie made me happy, happy, happy. Happy that people are out there making crazy, crappy, fun, gory, B-Horror films. Loved it. Apparently this is one of the film makers earlier films, and I understand it is not perfect, but, wow, it was truly fun to watch. The editing in the final portion of the film was great. I cannot wait to see more from this filmmaker. Why do people make movies that are so serious and "real' all the time. Make 'em FUN. This is one of those! Popcorn deliciousness.
