Many stars got their start in Disney Channel Original Movies and television shows, but some of the former Disney child stars eventually disappeared from Hollywood. Any millennial who grew up watching and loving the Disney Channel will recognize Kay Panabaker. Her breakout role was on The WB's "Summerland," the Aaron Spelling drama about teens being raised by their aunt after the death of their parents.
Although not listed as one of our best Disney Channel shows of the 2000s, she was in season 1 of "Phil of the Future," a quirky sitcom about a teenager from the year 2121 stuck in the year 2004. Kay Panabaker brought her warm energy to the role of Debbie, a sugary sweet girl with preppy clothes and a sunny smile that is also hiding something. She also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie "Life is Ruff" with Kyle Massey from "That's So Raven" and Mitchel Musso from "Hannah Montana.

In the glitz and glamour of television, while some shows last for many seasons, others fizzle out quickly. For No Ordinary Family as well, it premiered in 2010 with very high expectations blending family drama with superhero storytelling. But since it could not live up to its promises, the show was canceled after just one season, leaving fans disappointed.

The show followed the lives of the Powell family, whose ordinary lives took a drastic turn after they mysteriously survived a plane crash that granted them superpowers. While this premise was not something completely out of the box, the humorous elements surely made it a lot more interesting. Based on this it also had a very strong start with viewers really appreciating the show and its engaging storyline.
However, it failed to maintain this momentum and was canceled after the first season itself.

Writer Elisabeth Finch made headlines this week when it was revealed that the Grey’s Anatomy writer had faked her personal anecdotes about her illnesses and struggles with cancer, chemotherapy, abortion, and more. Finch had been actively publishing essays about her struggles while she was a part of the show and included many of them in the episodes.
With the Peacock docuseries Anatomy of Lies exposing Finch’s long con, the writer has been subjected to extreme scrutiny. According to Variety, Finch got the job to write for her favorite show Grey’s Anatomy after her essays on her struggles with chondrosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, got the attention of producer Shonda Rhimes.

They say the truth will set you free, but in the case of Elisabeth Finch, it seems to have handed her a one-way ticket straight into the lion’s den. The docuseries, Anatomy of Lies, now streaming on Peacock, pulls back the curtain on a saga that’s as jaw-dropping as it is eyebrow-raising.
Drawing inspiration from a 2022 Vanity Fair article by Evgenia Peretz, this three-part series dishes out a smorgasbord of revelations that will have you questioning your own perceptions of honesty, particularly in Tinseltown.

In addition to those that are part of the hugely successful MCU and Dcu, there are many other superhero TV shows that are criminally overlooked and deserve to be revisited. With the rise of the superhero genre to the forefront of pop culture consciousness, there has been huge interest in comic book stories on both the big and small screens. For example, the TV shows of the MCU have achieved widespread success in terms of viewership and engagement.
However, outside of franchises like the MCU, the massively successful DC animated universe of TV shows, and the Arrowverse, there havent been as many series to meet with the same success. For one reason or another, many superhero TV shows are criminally underrated or otherwise forgotten, despite being more than worthy of the same popularity afforded to mainstream Marvel or DC releases. With that in mind, here are 10 overlooked superhero TV shows that deserve a rewatch.

Grey's Anatomy is teeming with drama and scandal, helping to make it one of the best medical dramas ever made. Whether it's a life-or-death situation or a steamy love triangle, this show does well to draw viewers in with its exaggerated storylines. Alongside its appeal, Grey's Anatomy is often praised for being somewhat accurate, especially when it comes to the logistics surrounding a hospital.
Yet, it seems that Grey's Anatomy's drama goes a lot deeper than fans expect. Elisabeth Finch rose to fame in 2015 for securing a highly-paid position on the show's writing team. But, a new documentary on Peacock is set to reveal Finch's lies and how she fabricated her life so that she could climb her way up the ladder. So, who is Elisabeth Finch, and what does Anatomy of Lies aim to prove about this deeply engrossing story?
How Was Elisabeth Finch Involved in Greys Anatomy?...

The case of Elisabeth Finch was one that shocked the entertainment industry, and now a three-part docuseries will bring the tale to a wider audience.
On Tuesday, the streamer Peacock revealed that it is finalizing a three-part docuseries on the saga of the former Grey’s Anatomy writer and executive producer, whose harrowing story of bone cancer inspired at least one storyline on the ABC juggernaut until it was cast into doubt starting in 2022. Anatomy of Lies will chart “the rise and fall of Grey’s Anatomy star writer Elisabeth Finch, whose jaw-dropping lies fooled Hollywood for years,” Peacock stated in a press release.
Prior to 2022, Finch was known as a successful TV writer — she also worked for True Blood, No Ordinary Family and The Vampire Diaries — who had been open professionally and publicly about significant alleged personal struggles. Peter Werner, the Oscar-winning director known for his television work that spanned five decades and included helming episodes of such popular series as Moonlighting, A Different World, Justified and Law & Order: Svu, has died. He was 76.
Werner died Tuesday morning in Wilmington, North Carolina, his younger brother, Tom Werner (producer on The Cosby Show, Roseanne, That ’70s Show, The Conners), told The Hollywood Reporter. “He had a torn aorta that the doctors weren’t able to repair. So sudden,” he wrote in an email.

Elisabeth Finch — the former Grey’s Anatomy consulting producer whose myriad lies about her medical and personal history led to her resignation in March– gave her first career rehabilitation interview by saying “what she did was wrong” and how it was “not okay.”
Finch admitted to The Ankler that she never had “any form of cancer,” nor did her older brother Eric commit suicide — another lie she perpetuated while writing for the ABC drama. Her brother is actually alive and working in Florida as a doctor.
“I know it’s absolutely wrong what I did,” she said. “I lied and there’s no excuse for it. But there’s context for it. The best way I can explain it is when you experience a level of trauma a lot of people adopt a maladaptive coping mechanism. Some people drink to hide or forget things. Drug addicts try to alter their reality.

For the first time in its more than three-decade run, “The Simpsons” will premiere an episode featuring American Sign Language (Als) and a deaf actor.
“It’s very hard to do a ‘first’ after 722 episodes, but I couldn’t be more excited about this one,” executive producer Al Jean told CNN.
While the episode will premiere April 10 and comes exactly two weeks after “Coda’s” historic Best Picture win at the Oscars, the idea came up long before the movie was released and is loosely based on writer-producer Loni Steele Sosthand’s life. Titled “The Sound of Bleeding Gums,” it follows Lisa Simpson as she helps the son of her favorite musician, the late saxophonist Bleeding Gums Murphy (who died in Season 6), who is deaf and needs a cochlear implant.

Another big exit on Grey’s Anatomy. Consulting producer Elisabeth Finch, whose medical and personal history is under scrutiny, is going on personal leave from the ABC show.
“I will always remain one of Grey’s Anatomy’s biggest fans,” according to a statement provided to Deadline. “I loved the show from day one and had the honor to write for it since season 11. The proudest moment of my career was watching survivors of rape receive the episode ‘Silent All These Years.’ Grey’s Anatomy is one big-hearted, brilliant family. As hard as it is to take some time away right now, I know it is more important that I focus on my own family and my health. ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Writer Placed on Leave as Disney Launches Investigation Into Medical History Claims
Disney Television Studios has launched an investigation into “Grey’s Anatomy” writer Elisabeth Finch, following questions about personal stories and essays she has written and shared in the past, Variety has confirmed.
As first reported by the Ankler, Finch has been put on administrative leave as the studio looks into whether she exaggerated certain aspects of her life, particularly her medical history. Some of Finch’s ailments, which includes a rare form of bone cancer, the loss of part of her leg and knee replacement surgery, were said to have later inspired storylines on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Finch’s resume also includes HBO’s “True Blood” and The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries.” According to the Ankler story, “there are serious concerns within Shondaland and Disney that at least parts of Finch’s life story she shared in the writers room and with press were made up.”

Grey’s Anatomy consulting producer Elisabeth Finch has been placed on administrative leave following an allegation that she may have fudged details about her medical and personal history while writing for the ABC drama, Deadline has confirmed. Finch’s claims are currently under review.
The writer, who is 44, is best known for penning “Silent All These Years,” a 2015 episode about a rape victim that also featured Finch in a non-speaking role as a nurse. (She’s the one leading the gurney in the below clip).
The Los Angeles law firm of Lavely & Singer, which represents Finch, released this statement to Deadline: “Ms. Finch will not disclose her private health matters. Exclusive: Fox’s Monarch is getting a new boss after former Designated Survivor showrunner Jon Feldman took over the reins of the musical drama series.
Feldman has been named showrunner of the country music series, replacing Michael Rauch.
The series, which stars Susan Sarandon, Trace Adkins and Anna Friel, is set to premiere on Sunday, January 30 at 10 p.m. Currently in production, Feldman will now oversee the series, which was created by Melissa London Hilfers.
Deadline understands that given the size of the show – it is a sprawling musical family epic – there were some speed bumps hit during filming and Fox, which owns the series as its first live-action series fully since the sale of 20th Television to Disney, felt it needed to pivot. We hear that production was briefly halted as Harmon Feldman took over the position.

Jackpot may not exactly be considered an A-list Spider-Man comic book character to most fans, but Sony Pictures apparently sees superheroine solo movie potential, with the studio bringing such a project to the forefront—just a day after the report of another new one—by tapping a prolific writer from the realm of comic books and comic book television.
Marc Guggenheim has been hired to pen the script for a Jackpot movie, reports Deadline. The project will adapt the story of the titular female hero, born Sara Ehret. The character gained powers after she was accidentally exposed—while pregnant—to Lot 777, an experimental genetic cure for Parkinson’s Disease, which left her comatose for 4 months, after which she emerged with enhanced strength, stamina and durability after having her child. Chicago – Anyone who has ever held a big secret knows that the weight of it is usually worse than the secret itself. The only thing worse than that is when the secret you’re holding back is your true self. “Love, Simon” explores the all-too-familiar, high school coming of age story, but with the added complication of coming to terms with your sexuality and identity.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
The importance of this film is undeniable, especially when it comes to mainstream representation. Director Greg Berlanti understands this and shows all due respect to the tough topic. With all of Berlanti’s work on teen-based television shows (“Dawson’s Creek”, “No Ordinary Family”, “The Tomorrow People”, etc), he clearly understands how to highlight the emotional complexity, while keeping the character relatable and grounded. “Love, Simon” isn’t lacking in flair either, with a colorful dance sequence and more red herrings than a fishing trip.

Random Roles: Julie Benz on her numerous TV deaths, from Dexter to Buffy The Vampire Slayer to Angel
Welcome to Random Roles, wherein we talk to actors about the characters who defined their careers. The catch: They don’t know beforehand what roles we’ll ask them to talk about.
The actor: Julie Benz got her start as an actress when she was still in her teens, shifting back and forth between movies and TV and racking up a wide variety of credits in a relatively short amount of time. But it was her work with Joss Whedon—first on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, then on Angel—that put her on the map. Since then, Benz has remained a stalwart in genre projects, appearing in sci-fi series (Defiance) and superhero shows (No Ordinary Family). She’s also earned considerable acclaim for her stint on Dexter and has also turned up in more than a few horror films, the most recent of which, Havenhurst, is out now.

After spending the past six years developing and producing hit shows such as Arrow and Blindspot, filmmaker Greg Berlanti is returning to the big screen. The filmmaker is set to direct a new reboot of Little Shop of Horrors, which will be a musical, like the 1986 classic directed by Frank Oz. The story first originated on the big screen with Roger Corman's 1960 cult classic, before it was re-imagined as an off-Broadway musical by Howard Ashman, who wrote the screenplay adaptation for the 1986 film.

With Arrow set to go on its midseason break soon, a surprising casting addition has been made which we’ll see pay off when The CW series returns next year. That is Tom Amandes as The Calculator (yes, that’s actually the name of a DC Comics character), a villain who is described by the network as a criminal mastermind and technical genius.
The Calculator, whose real name is Noah Kuttler, uses his advanced skills in computer science and internet manipulation to blackmail Roy (Colton Haynes) out of retirement to do his bidding, which leads to an epic battle with Team Arrow.
