    Almost doesn't count

No pun intended - also I was unfortunate enough to still find this. Streaming services are really good - but they also tease you and make you watch stuff you probably shouldn't watch. But who am I kidding? It's not that I didn't watch movies like this when video stores where still a thing .. and I would have continued to do so ... although maybe not so often anymore ... or not to that amount like I do right now.

Anyway back to this ... well let's call it abomination. We have seen the story or similar horror stories before .. but this really is not ... well quality wise it has quite some issues. Acting is one thing - but even though this is 13 years old at this point ... the cinematography and the quality of the video ... really poor. Even the small budget movies nowadays look a lot better than this.

Not sure what the filmmakers did after this, but maybe they ... well it could not get worse I assume. Maybe with more money they were able to achieve better results ...

    Surreal, jumbled house-in-the-woods horror on a micro-budget

Several students at a community college in the 'burbs of DC accept the invitation of an outcast Goth girl to party at her parents' house while they're away. The youths get out-of-hand as strange, sinister things start happening.

"Almost Invisible" (2010) is a spare change Indie that mixes the plot & budget of "Sheltered" (2010) and "The Lonely Ones" (2006) with the hallucinatory style, scantily-clad women and ghostly happenings of "Death Tunnel" (2005). But it lacks the well-written coherence of the two former flicks and the professionalism of the latter. Meanwhile the spectral angle is reminiscent of "Carnival of Souls" (1962).

The rockin' soundtrack is great and the writer/director knows how to shoot women (no pun intended), plus he's skilled with artistic effects/editing, similar to "Death Tunnel," just on a way lower budget. The cast is serviceable for non-actors and a few of the females are very attractive, with Hillary Barnett standing out as Jeopardy. (There's some nudity, so be forewarned).

Unfortunately, the storytelling desperately needed improved to flesh out the potential and make the story more coherent, not to mention compelling. By the end everything is vaguely explained, but the story is tedious up to that point despite the entertaining highlights noted above. Some viewers complain about not discerning the dialogues, but that's not a problem if you utilize the subtitles.

Examples of no-budget Indies that take the basic cabin-in-the-woods scenario and do it effectively include "The Lake on Clinton Road" (2015) and "Crazy Lake" (2016).

The film runs 1 hour, 35 minutes, and was shot in Oakton, Virginia, which is 10-12 miles west of the Potomac River & Washington DC.

One of the worst things I've ever seen

It's a cacophonous mess that's ugly to look at and even uglier to think about. The opening scene does nothing to elucidate the plot, but it certainly sets the tone for the movie: ugly and stupid. The women all walk around in swimsuits or underwear the whole time while the men treat them like pieces of meat--I'm not talking about the acting, either; this is one of those terrible exploitation movies where it feels like everybody got coerced or tricked into being there and all the actors look uncomfortable on set. None of the sexuality or violence is presented in a context that makes any sense at all. Do not watch this unless you want to be confused and irritated.

a strange and cheap movie. exploitation fans should watch it

Lotsa people will overlook or hate this flick. But if you're a fan of movies that are unique or make you feel sonewhat uneasy in an unexplainable way then don't skip out on this flick. Its cheap and tawdry and utterly self serious... and it's made by someone who put alot of effort into it. Interesting editing weird story and lurid unsettling little set pieces all come together in a mess of a flick that is quite surreal and nightmarish...but not in an acid trip sort of way, more like an -I may have taken too much cold medicine- sort of way

there's a lot of weird ideas here and I wish this dude got just a bit more money from somewhere and made another flick.

An Invitation to a House Party

This film begins with eight college students in desperate need of something to do over the weekend. So, when a social outcast named "April" (Sara Cole) tells them that her parents will be out of town for a couple of days, they reluctantly accept her offer to throw a party there. But even then, none of them really want to socialize with April. Unfortunately, their preoccupation with each other begins to fade when bizarre things start happening. And the longer they stay in the house, the worse things become. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this film definitely had its faults. For starters, the character development was extremely bad, and it was sometimes difficult to place the right name with the right person. Likewise, the dialogue and music--while possibly fashionable for this particular group--didn't quite appeal to me either. That being said, although having several attractive, bikini-clad actresses certainly didn't hurt this film, it just wasn't enough for me to consider rating it any higher than I have. Below average.
