Blastazoid was the featured show on MTV's highly advertised "Gamers Week".
The half hour special was created by MTV's internal devision with Joe Frantz and Brandon DiCamillo, members of the "CKY CREW" (from Viva La Bam, the CKY Videos, Haggard, Minghags, Etc.). Frantz and DiCamillo had approached MTV with their idea to create a "Live-Action Donkey Kong," a five-story, life-sized version of the classic 1982 Nintendo arcade game, and were signed on as producers to head up the project. Blastazoid chronicled the lives of the hosts Brandon DiCamillo, Rake Yohn, and Joe Frantz as they
brought "Live-Action Donkey Kong" to life. Guinness Book Of World's Records was contacted but the world's record for a live action game was too subjective of a category to hold a public record. Blastazoid also showcased user-created, gaming, fan, and tribute footage found on the Internets.
Although the Blastazoid episode ended with a "trailer" for "Live-Action Frogger," the teaser was a spoof and Blastazoid had never been intended for a series.
