There is currently no crossplay between systems as of this time of writing, and online multiplayer cannot host people playing in local split-screen mode. Anyone joining together must make the decision to either play online or offline, but not both. In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, episode 3, Sera, played by Adelaide Kane, is revealed to be an undercover Romulan operative disguised as a human. Sera's mission is to alter human history by assassinating Khan Noonien-Singh and preventing the Eugenics Wars and the founding of the Federation. Australian actress Adelaide Kane plays the undercover Romulan, Sera, in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, episode 3, "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow." Eva Maria Daniels, producer of independent features “Reality,” “What Maisie Knew” and “Joe Bell,” died on June 30 in London, after battling cancer. She was 43.

Throughout her career, Daniels maintained longstanding partnerships with producer Riva Marker and A24, worked as a producer for The Mill and Company 3 and served as a consultant for the Icelandic Film Fund.

“Eva died on the same terms as she lived. She played her cards close to her chest. She didn’t seek recognition when she had success. She didn’t seek pity when she suffered. I will miss her friendship greatly, but mostly I will miss seeing what she would have done next,” wrote director Börkur Sigthorsson on Facebook.

Most recently, Daniels executive produced the Berlin Film Festival selection and Max feature, “Reality,” which stars Sydney Sweeney and was directed by Tina Satter.

“Eva was hyper intelligent and had a gift for seeking out and supporting artists.

“Eva died on the same terms as she lived,” director Börkur Sigthorsson wrote on Facebook. “She played her cards close to her chest. She didn’t seek recognition when she had success. Daniels most recently executive produced the Sydney Sweeney-starring Reality.

Drew Barrymore has dropped out as host of the MTV Movie & TV Awards set for this Sunday in Los Angeles, in support of striking writers.

Barrymore is signed to host next year’s awards. This year’s show will be hostless. There also will be no press access and no red carpet or talent interviews before the show.

Following the news of Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek‘s death Sunday, fellow TV hosts and other stars flooded social media to pay their respects to the longtime host.

Trebek died after a battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. According to an official statement from the show, the host passed away “peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends.”

Nonetheless one of the great tragedies of my life is that I cannot actually watch absolutely everything ever that comes out and try as I might to rectify this, there simply are not enough hours in the day. There are a couple of films available on the streaming services that have just been nominated for academy awards this week which I have not had a chance to see thus far.

Black List writer Young Il Kim has been awarded the Sundance Institute’s Alfred P. Sloan Commissioning Grant for his original untitled script based on the life of Stephen Hawking. "Bates Motel" star Vera Farmiga is the latest name to joined the cast of David Dobkin's comedy drama The Judge , says a story at The Hollywood Reporter . She joins Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall and Vincent D'Onofrio. The film finds Downey as an attorney returning to his hometown for his mother's funeral. Although Duvall's character is the town judge, he's also the only suspect in his wife's murder and Downey's character must balance years of estrangement and emotional distance in his effort to uncover the truth about what really happened. Farmiga will play a waitress in the small town with whom Downey's character shares a connection. I might not have connected with Liza Johnson’s Cannes-selected Return (Linda Cardellini is nominated for an Indie Spirit Best Actress award) but I’m looking at her sophomore film as what we have come to expect from an Alexandre Payne-ish type film: placing an atypical cast of flawed characters in an extreme situation. If the foursome of Guy Pearce, Kristen Wiig, Hailee Steinfeld and Nick Nolte offer some emotional bravura, then Johnson might be the second to successfully adapt an Alice Munro story for the big screen following Sarah Polley before her with Away From Her. One of the stars of ABC’s Modern Family, Ty Burrell will join the human cast for sequel to 2011s The Muppets to replace Django Unchained‘s Christoph Waltz, who was circling the Disney project earlier this fall.

The Austrian actor’s schedule prevented the studio from making a deal and forced him to drop out of the running. Burrell will now take over the role of an Interpol agent in the Europe-set follow-up. Waltz will be reportedly heading off to work on Mike Newell‘s Reykjavik.

James Bobin, who directed the 2011 Muppets film, is returning to helm the still-untitled sequel and co-wrote the screenplay with returning writer Nicholas Stoller. However, The Muppets 2 will not star Jason Segel, who co-wrote and starred in the 2011 movie.

The new movie from Return (2011) director Liza Johnson is based on the book of short stories, ‘Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage,’ by Alice Munro.

Penned for the big screen by Mark Poirier (Goats), the Hateship, Friendship project focuses on a nanny (Wiig) hired to care for a rather wild teenage girl (Steinfeld) who using email, ignites a romantic flame between the nanny and her own estranged father (Pearce), a recovering drug addict living in a different town; Nolte will play the girl’s grandfather who blames Pearce’s character for the death of his own daughter.

A lot of indie films create a delightful ensemble of quirky characters and then do not really know what to do with them but let them run free onscreen. Although formal collegiate education is often lacking in big screen stars, he possesses both an undergraduate degree from Princeton and a Master of Arts in English literature from Yale. Coming of age stories are the bread and butter of independent cinema. They don’t require any snazzy CGI-effects, no big name actors or their $20 million salaries, and the only “buzz” created is through good ol’ word of mouth, not a multi-faceted, multi-media campaign blitz. It’s the sort of back to basics film-making that is necessitated by the budgets available to unproven directors: simple universal stories, simple old-fashioned techniques.
