Its not unwatchable, nothing like that. However it does not add much value to TWD universe. If you see it as a standalone thing, and not a piece of the puzzle, it doesnt stand.
After all the attempts, I have a feeling that the next really good content would have to fast forward untill new fully developed (and yet promitive) societies have emerged, a completely new setting with new opportunities for plots, drama and action. As long as its characters vs other characters in the setting dominated by walkers, I am afraid we have seen it all already.

You can see a good amount of reviewers posted after 2 episodes and were disappointed that the shorts had zero relation to the original TWD. I am a anthology junkie and have loved zombies since my grandmother allowed me to watch George A Romero's original when I was 8. Here, I felt the zombie world would be a great setting that would provide endless opportunity to create original anthology content. And sporadic stories directly related to TWD was a great idea to keep us connected. The later worked out. They did really well showing how Alpha became Alpha. As with a lot of anthologies, individual episodes often have different producers and directors. The production quality of episode 3 made me more so feel like I was watching TWD. In regards to the original content, they need to step it up. If Tales From the Crypt could put out quality engaging content for the better part of 7 years, these writers should be able to put out something more gripping for 2 episodes. No disrespect to Terry Crewes. He his great in certain comedy and action hero settings. But his role as a drama lead was not convincing. Imho, the acting was quite lacking. The second episode was a little better. At first I was disappointed in how they strayed from TWD's real world setting to a sci-fi capable world. But than I remembered it is an anthology series and anything can happen...... in The Twilight zone. Do do do do, do do do do.
After the first two episodes, I have found them quite enjoyable to watch. Doesn't seem to have quite the same budget as the original, but that's fine. The acting was decent and the plots were engaging, even if the second one did seem to leave the reality of the premise of the originals, but then again, how realistic are zombies.
Didn't think I'd say this about a TWD show, but this show is beyond redemption.
From stories to acting, it's going nowhere. Even the teen actors who were in 'The World Beyond' had promising acting skills than of these adults who we can see in this series.
Seems like the production house had thought of making something without a content just because there has been an audience who loves the original series. Truly disappointing.
I do not recommend this series to anyone.
There are quite a few numbers of prequels and sequels to check out instead of wasting time on this.
PS: I hope not to see 'Alpha' again. That character was the least interesting one in the original series, but they keep bringing her back.

This is kinda fun . I'm somewhat enjoying the episodes . I was the most excited for the alpha episode but first ones are decent too . The 2nd episode reminds me of Happy Death Day . Not great but one time watchable for the walking dead fans . Alpha backstory was great.
