Summary
Reviewers say 'Bang Bang Baby' offers high production values, strong performances, and a captivating 80s setting. The series is praised for its engaging plot, stylish cinematography, and excellent soundtrack. However, some find the storyline fragmented, characters underdeveloped, and pacing inconsistent. Certainly not for the "sanitized Inspector Montelbano" or "gritty Gomorrah" fans.
More in the vein of Killing Eve or Get Shorty or Fargo, noir in the Italian tradition where law and family allegiances are often in conflict but with an irreverent touch of comedy and characters. Well written, filmed and acted. A motley set of characters while a bit stereotyped, nevertheless, manage to pull it off with a straight face. While the subject matter is for mature audiences, it is fairly well sanitized without gratuitous gore.
Like a good series, it isn't about a single logical ending with a long way to get there. One never knows where it is going to go next with its twists and turns. It isn't a simple good vs bad story.
The lead character being a young teenager brilliantly portrayed is a refreshing take on the crime-comedy genre.
Watch it without any pre-conceived notion of genre or characters or period to enjoy it.

Italians could make great genre films in the past that are remembered even today and found by the new audiences every day. This can't be said for many of the new italian movies and serieses. However Bang Bang Baby is a big exception to this and it shows how cool italian directors and filmmakers can be. Just disregard the ominous name.
This series has high production values, big budget, fantastic cast, great 80's music and very very good script. It appears that nothing could go wrong with the first five episodes because I was completely hooked. I didn't have any boring moments watching it. I can't think of negative things to say.

I was quite interested- an Italian series which plays in the 80s!
The first part was a little bit strange but than the story developed fast ... Ingredients: pop art, good actors including strong characters, and beautiful women. Violence included in Tarantino style... and the cars of the 80's : BMW 7, Alfa 6, and many more. Great series. My compliments. Want to see more.

Some parts are interesting, the character of the grandma is very cool but the protagonist girls has 1 expression and the general storytelling is fragmentary and counterclimatic. Wanted to like it but stopped watching at episode 2. Also, signature gay character that needs to be shoehorned in every modern series made my eyes roll at minute 5. Director wants to imitate Sorrentino but should have had a more Gomorra-like pacing and style to make this enjoyable.
A very well written story, with many interesting characters. During the story development you will change your mind few times about who is the good and who is the bad, just to find that no-one is the real monster but everyone is a mix of black and white. Every character with their good and their bad are sculpted by their own story, the situation they was born in and had to grow in and adapt too.
Nice soundtracks, nice photography, and great actors performance (I watched it in original language and I think this can make all the difference given that the characters speak with south-Italy dialect and typical strong accents).
Really deserves a chance!
