A good sequel that just doesn't quite reach the same height as its predecessor.

Gameplay: Well I started this soon after finishing Sigma 1 so I was pretty much used to the gameplay. And the gameplay is almost all similar to the first one. Few changes here and there like cool finishing sequences, more variety of weapons and three female playable character with dedicated chapters to each of them adding more variety and change of pace in the game. Some cool tweaks too like quickly saving checkpoints, better placement of checkpoints and shops, and better interface as a whole.

Some old type of enemies, and a lot of new type of enemies. Great bosses too. BUT all felt somewhat easier. And I think main reason was that I was pretty much trained thanks to sigma 1, so sigma 2 felt much easier. Seriously, I hardly died in it. Compare that to sigma 1 where I died countless times.

The pacing in this part is much better and felt streamlined. No more annoying opening door areas and such. BUT at a point, the game just starts throwing too many waves of enemies, one after the another and I was seriously just fed up of them. Not like they were difficult, they just got monotonous. This happened in the last few chapters.

Graphics and sound: A lot better graphics. Much improved from Sigma 1. And the game still ran at silky smooth 60 fps. There was however some screen tearing, but it was rare. Soundtrack again was pretty sweet. Although it never reached the awesomeness of some tracks in sigma 1.

Story: Improved story and MUCH better cutscenes. Still, it isn't something to write about as the game's main selling point is the gameplay and challenging factor. No one is going to play it for its story.

Concluding remarks: A worthy sequel which improved some of the annoyances of the first game but introduced some of its own. And it simply doesn't have DAT FEEL of the first game.

This is the first Team Ninja developed games where Tomonobu Itagaki is not involved in prior to his resignation from the company.
    • Goofs
The enemy soldiers in the cutscenes are holding their weapons in their left hands. While it is possible that one or two soldiers may be left-handed, it is highly unlikely that they all will be left-handed.
