Who doesn’t love a good crossover? Some of audiences very favorite episodes are the ones where characters from an entirely different show pop up, like when two “ER” doctors showed up on “Friends,” when Sam and Dean got sucked into an episode of “Scooby-Doo,” or, most recently, when “9-1-1” LAPD sergeant Athena Grant took an unplanned cruise aboard the Odyssey.
Most of the time, these special episodes happen because they are on the same network, or are from the same producer, but sometimes they just happen because they are entertaining as hell … or the show’s creators are big fans of each other, as was the case with Quinta Brunson of “Abbott Elementary” and Rob McElhenney of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”

While it's a stretch to call any Disney animated movie a "surprise hit," Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois' "Lilo & Stitch" caught critics and audiences off guard during the summer of 2002 by being a visually inventive, hand-drawn hoot of a cartoon. At this point, Disney's best animated work was coming out of Pixar, so it was refreshing to see a wholly original, non-cg feature delight in a way that called to mind the company's in-house heyday.
The tale of an unlikely friendship between a smart, fiercely independent six-year-old and a chaotic, hyper-destructive alien experiment being pursued by his creators, the film exploded off the screen thanks to its colorful Hawaiian setting and anarchic sense of humor. The movie tugged at viewers' heartstrings with its theme about the importance of family (which is infused with Lilo's sorrow over the recent death of her parents), and turned into a merchandising smash...

A few fictional television characters will be remembered forever, and John Munch counts among them. Played by Richard Belzer and based on Jay Landsman (a central figure in David Simon's 1991 true crime novel Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets), the character first appeared in the procedural Homicide: Life on the Street, where his kindness and belief in conspiracy theories made him stand out from his gruff, tough-as-nails colleagues. When the show was canceled, Munch was quickly saved from the sinking ship and thrown into the robust lifeboat that was Law & Order: Svu. After all, he was too valuable to drown with the rest.
Figuratively, Munch never just stuck to his jurisdiction. The lawman appeared in various shows across different networks, suggesting that these productions all existed in the same universe. These include The X-Files, Arrested Development, The Wire, The Beat, American Dad, and 30 Rock. Munch...

Viewers discovering Homicide: Life on the Street, now streaming on Peacock, will note Det. John Munch’s (Richard Belzer) penchant for conspiracy theories. This may not have always been the case. The Baltimore murder cop may have gotten the bug while on duty at The X-Files for season 5’s “Unusual Suspects.” The flashback episode to the creation of the Lone Gunmen supplies origin stories to much of the science fiction series’ canon, including how Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) was initially infected with his unique brand of governmental paranoia.
Homicide: Life on the Street, based on the book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets by David Simon, who would go on to create The Wire, ran on NBC until May 21, 1999, concluding with Homicide: The Movie (2000). After the finale, Det. Munch became a main character on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The X-Files aired until May 2002 on Fox, spawned two feature films,...

NCIS season 20 could bring back several, if not many former cast members, but the plan for their comeback would only be a waste for Tony Dinozzo and Leroy Gibbs. CBS' longest-running police procedural is celebrating a big year as it officially marks its two decades on the air. This officially makes it one of the longest-running scripted American primetime television series, only behind NBC's Law & Order: Svu and Law & Order. In celebration of that, there's an expectation that some of the show's former cast members will appear for a special reunion.
Considering how long it has been on the air, NCIS has seen its fair share of actor exits. In the last decade, it lost several original characters. Michael Weatherly's NCIS season 13's departure is arguably one of the most impactful ones; the same goes when Mark Harmon left the show in season 19. Given these, Dinozzo...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for NCIS Season 20 Episode 15 “Unusual Suspects.”] NCIS celebrates a milestone with “Unusual Suspects” — its 450th episode — but you wouldn’t know it based on the case, B-plot, or any of it. Rather, it’s just like any other episode, with a standalone case and a bit of insight into one of the agents’ lives off the job, with the two mixing just a bit. The milestone episode’s case is simple: The investigation into a rideshare driver’s murder leads to a retirement home, one Parker (Gary Cole) insisted was rundown when he looked at it for his dad (more on that shortly), and the question of whether the victim was really as nice as he seemed. But was he having an affair with an 85-year-old woman in said retirement home, leading ...

Gucci Mane and Kevin Gates performed their boastful single “I’m Not Goin'” on Tuesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. The rappers exchanged verses on an unadorned stage, pacing back and forth as they fired off lines about wealth, status and fighting off their naysayers.
“They told me, ‘Stop buying all these fancy cars’/ They told me, ‘Please take all your diamonds off,” Gucci rapped on the chorus, utilizing a high register that blended with the booming backing track. “I’m getting too rich to fly commercial flights/ They wanna lock me up like Suge Knight.

Gone Girl actress Lola Kirke is not having it with The New Yorker’s review of her new movie.
Kirke, 27, shared a short but biting response to the outlet’s critic Anthony Lane, whose review of her film Gemini commented on her character’s wardrobe choices.
“She wears big jeans and a baggy gray top, while sporting the haircut from hell —brown bangs cut straight across, as if by a six-year-old with blunt scissors,” he wrote in his review, which appeared in the April 2 issue with the headline “Unusual Suspects.”
“At one point, in need of camouflage, she dyes the...

Exclusive, updated with Lmno statement below: Discovery Communications has accused Lmno Entertainment CEO Eric Schotz of scheming to “systematically and repeatedly overcharge and defraud Discovery” by submitting fraudulent production budgets on a wide number of reality shows the company produced for its networks, including Unusual Suspects and The Little Couple.
The suit is the latest development in an ongoing saga of alleged deception, betrayal and embezzlement. On June 22, Lmno filed a $7 million breach-of-contract and copyright infringement lawsuit against Discovery, accusing the giant media company of conspiring with a “criminal extortionist” to squeeze Lmno out of six of its shows, including TLC hit The Little Couple.
Late Monday night, Discovery filed a countersuit against Lmno in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles (read it here). “For over a decade, Lmno and Discovery enjoyed a long-standing relationship during which Lmno produced a number of programs for various Discovery networks,” Discovery said.

It may be so 90s it hurts, but the Highlander TV series spin-off is still very much worth a watch...
You may have seen a few articles about the original Highlander movie recently, as it’s just celebrated its 30th anniversary. Lots of things have turned 30 this year. Just a few examples: The Legend Of Zelda, Pixar, the M25. Fine institutions, but did any of them spawn a mostly superior TV series in 1992? I think not. Don’t let the fact that it was made in the 90s put you off. People still watch Buffy.
The series follows the adventures of Duncan MacLeod (cousin of the movie’s Connor). Explaining the premise of Highlander in complex detail would make me go far over my word count, so I’ll be brief. Basically, immortal sword fighters fight to decapitate each other in order to be the last one...
