Very funny sometimes, other times bleh. What I like most: the dancing at the start, Kevin's monologues, Gigi's extra large smile and giggles/squeals, . What kicks it up sometimes are the guests/recurring characters Brick Street, Troy, the guy who plays insurance agent/travel agent/loan officer, African park attendant/caterer. And the running gags: Ice Cube's disappearing act (especially when used on him or ignored), Troy's lying about his whereabouts to his mom. And for fans of Half & Half ( which starred Essence Atkins) Telma Hopkins ( who played her half sister's mother on that show) appears now as her mother in law and Obba Babatunde ( who played her father on that show) appears again as her father.
I'm sorry but Essence Atkins character Suzanne was miserable and miserable to watch. She was jealous, mean, controlling, distrusting, rude, arrogant and just a complete disaster. I was SO happy she wasn't in season 2. The show was fine without her.
I get it she had a bad relationship with the kids dad but she never reached an arc of crusty. She just stayed miserable and unhappy unless things were going her way and Terry Cruz's character was just weak.
He never stood his ground and was constantly groveling to appease his miserable wife. The only enjoyable thing about the show was her absence and the kid from next door.
Oh and Gigi and Martin were awesome! I know the show is old but my gawd was that 1st season unbearable to watch with her.
I gave 5/10 because the last 2 seasons were great w/o her.

Based on the Ice Cube movie franchise Are We There Yet?, this series continues off from the sequel movie Are We Done Yet?.
AWTY: The Series stars the funny Terry Crews as Nick Persons, who is married to his wife Suzanne Kingston-Persons (the talented Essence Atkins) and have 2 children: Kevin (Coy Stewart) and Lindsey (Teala Dunn), along with Nick's mother Marilyn (the funny Telma Hopkins). Outside of the family, Nick has his best friend Martin (Christian Finnegan), and Suzanne's best friend and co-worker Gigi (the sassy Keesha Sharp).
We also do get Ice Cube (who's also the executive producer of the series) as Suzanne's brother Terrence, so if you liked the AWTY movies, give the TV series a shot and see for yourself.

I'm quite a fan sitcoms and I've probably seen most of the reasonably good ones by now. I also tend to follow the supposedly mediocre. However, this sitcom is by far the worst one I've seen. The jokes just fall flat; I'm sorry, but that's the way it is.
The show deals with marital life and unfortunately the points it tries to make are dismissed far too easily. They're also generic and the jokes used to make them are uninspired. There simply isn't any innovative subject matter like in Seinfeld, Frasier, The Big Bang Theory or other great sitcoms.
I don't usually review IMDb items, but after seeing this I felt compelled to warn others.

It's a nice light hearted family show that I will admit starts slow but gets good towards the middle of the second season.
I don't really understand a lot of the criticism, the vast majority of sitcoms are at this level of quality my biggest issue with the show is it can be boring at times but aside from that enjoyable. The main characters are okay and most the celebrity guest steal the show each his own I guess but I prefer the show over the movie.
