This foreign professional surfer dude wonders what to do with himself after his career is over. For some reason he hasn't found himself yet in all the years he's been focusing on just having fun. He thinks that getting back to nature -- being alone in nature, will fill whatever void is in him. So he goes to the forests of northern California to leave civilization and "man-made things" behind -- but continues to hit the beach to surf of course. Lots of surfing video in this film. Lots. It's more like he's using this film to highlight his surfing skills, but to really himself. Oh, and of course he talks as though he's all alone and just discovering himself along the way. But obviously he has a film crew with him in every moment. So the whole thing is planned to the nth degree. And that's how we know it's completely fake. So he's thought up his "finding himself" comments well in advance. Frankly I hope he lost money on this film.
But no one dies at the end.
Ends with this gem "to find yourself, sometimes you cant find it externally, but have to go ..... within." Ooof so profound.
Protagonist says he is giving up man-made things and capitalism, meanwhile has all the most expensive hipster gear in every shot.
You know those TikTok's where people make beautiful food in the woods and its all vibey and aesthetic and unrealistic, this is 55 minutes of that with an extremely self-congratulatory bent.
Some beautiful shots of the ocean though as a redeeming aspect. Overall a relaxing watch if you can get bast all the hypocrisy.
