Dublin Curst is a true Irish indie film in both spirit and perseverance.
Baz and co have created a wonderful, heartfelt film that echos the themes of Irish culture. There are happy scenes, sad scenes and scenes that will have you emotionally conflicted.
The film centers around a broken up band who over come their differences to play one last gig. Along the way they discover secrets of the past and change their perspectives on the events that lead to them breaking up as a band.
A film that truly reflects the hardworking nature of the Irish industry, and the heart of the Irish film industry.

This film was apparently made in only 7 days, in 32 locations, 3 counties and with no money! Which makes it even more impressive. It's an engaging story about redemption, regrets, following your dreams and the power of friendship to last through the ups and downs of life. In this case the Dublin punk music scene. The multi talented Baz Black stars, writes, directs, produces AND plays drums. It's worth a look if you're interested in punk music or just want to see a high quality indie film with a great sound track! The cast are all really authentic and (despite first appearances) endearing and likeable. And I think I shed a tear or two at the end. 😢
Dublin Crust tells the entertaining story of 4 bandmates (and their manager) who were a popular punk band in the late 1990's, went their separate ways, and decide to reform now as middle-aged geezers to see if they've still got it. The answer is a resounding 'yes!' This is a delightful movie in the vein of The Commitments or The Full Monty, that delves into choices we make in life, and how to reclaim past glory. The music is great throughout, and I give big kudos to Director Baz Black, the Producers, and fine cast for pulling out all the stops to tell this story. If you have any memories of the punk rock movement of the 1990's, you will love this. Beyond that, it's a solid character story about friends and staying true to what you believe. Check it out!
Dublin Crust gives us a great mix of punk, nostalgia, and relationships.
You've got everything here, from laughter to tears. The beginning and end scenes contrast heavily but there's one thing that every scene has in common - they all have a lot of heart.
The characters are flawed and yet there's a lot of warmth to each of them - you'd happily befriend them all (yes, even Bernard!). There is a constant theme of people trying to better themselves, and able to do it through the support of others and a generous helping of punk attitude. The message I picked up on: Punk isn't dead and cherish your relationships.
More films need to be made with more heart less thought on profit. Watch it, enjoy it, feel it. Then get the soundtrack stuck in your head 🤘

This is an absolutely brilliant film, and a bit of a surprise, given that it seems to have hardly been reviewed by mainstream outlets. All the more impressive when you realise this is a low budget, independent film. The music is absolutely fantastic as well. All credit to whoever wrote and directed the music! The acting might be occasionally uneven, but all is absolutely forgiven, a great story and strong leads. What a lot of fun this film is! It's my hope it becomes a slow burn, cult hit. It really is quite something. Commitments meets punk but better!! Do add this to your list of unknown gems that you knew about before it became more well known 🙂
