The ongoing Motörhead live recording series, The Löst Tapes, is being collected on a new eight-disc CD box set arriving February 23rd. In addition, a fifth volume in the series, Live at Donington Download Fest ’08, has been announced as part the box set and as a standalone vinyl release.
The Motörhead camp launched The Löst Tapes series in 2021, restoring previously unreleased Motörhead concert recordings sourced from cassette tapes discovered in the archives of the late Lemmy Kilmister.
“[Cassettes] were a standard part of every tour … Motörhead were certainly no exception, recording show after show,” read the press release for the box set. “They contain gold, pure aural gold, and had for many years sat hundreds of feet underground in a small cave Lemmy owned, guarded by small, hairy centurions in Roman armor with small spears and bad attitudes. Only the magic password would release them, and thankfully, Lem had scribbled it...

Beach Slang recruited former Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson for their new LP, The Deadbeat Bang of Heartbreak City, out January 10th via Bridge Nine Records.
The indie rock band previewed the album with thunderous lead single “Bam Rang Rang,” a torrent of power chord fuzz, bent-note guitar leads and the ragged snarl of frontman James Alex.
The track opens in glam-punk territory; after a false ending ushers in a wall of feedback, Alex leads the band through a cowbell-heavy hard rock section that conjures a hybrid of Mountain’s “Mississippi...

We’re just days away from the release of “Mindhunter,” and while our multiple previous glimpses at the new Netflix series have been downright Fincherian, they’ve been more atmospheric than plot-driven. With the premiere on the horizon, the latest official trailer is finally ready to introduce audiences to a new character.
“Mindhunter” follows the based-on-true tales of 1970s FBI agents who enlisted help from serial killers to catch similar criminals on the loose. In the series, Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) make their way to federal institutions for some eerie, special assistance.

Steven Seagal has made only one horror movie to date, and that was 2009's Against the Dark, in which he had a cameo that found him beating off vampires. Yet, here at Dread Central we've been known to cover the world of the bizarre and the paranormal. You're about to learn something about Seagal that is beyond bizarre...

Steven Seagal has requested a presidential pardon for the film producer convicted of conspiracy to extort money from him. The action star wrote to the office of the pardon attorney at the United States Department of Justice to confirm his support for an eventual pardon for his former business partner Julius Nasso. He wrote: 'I have no objections to and would support the application (when it is timely) of Julius R. Nasso for a Presidential pardon.' The producer was sentenced to a year in federal prison in 2003 after his decade-long partnership with Seagal was severed. The 'Born to Raise Hell' star ended their relationship when his spiritual guru advised him to stop making violent films. However, Julius had already...

Chicago – Vern started his career as one of those snarky critics who wrote in to Harry Knowles’ landmark and influential movie website Ain’t It Cool News. He became a regular writer for the site and his work there turned him into a very unorthodox author. His first book was a fantastic examination of, believe it or not, the career of Steven Seagal. Newly updated with a dozen new chapters about the recent adventures of his subject matter (the first printing was in 2008), “Seagalogy: A Study of the Ass-Kicking Films of Steven Seagal” is a funny, clever read for fans of the unusual action star and those who have never seen one of his movies. Vern’s movie-loving, smart, enjoyable writing makes this a more entertaining experience than Seagal himself has ever produced.
Don’t worry. This is not tongue-in-cheek nonsense. To say that Vern takes his subject matter seriously would be a Massive understatement.

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:
African Cats – Samuel L. Jackson (Narration)
Deep Gold – Bebe Pham, Jaymee Ong, Michael Gleissner
Madea’s Big Happy Family – Tyler Perry, Loretta Devine, Bow Wow
Water for Elephants – Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz
Movie of the Week
Water for Elephants
The Stars: Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz
The Plot: A veterinary student (Pattinson) abandons his studies after his parents are killed and joins a traveling circus as their vet.
The Buzz: This period piece looks to be a well put together romantic drama. I enjoyed Pattinson’s general vibe in the trailer; thankfully a far cry from his brooding ham-bake of the Twilight films. Witherspoon is winsome, I typically love her in her more dramatic pieces — aside from the laborious Vanity Fair. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of on-screen magic this pair can conjure up. Happy to see Christolph Waltz again,...

Make no bones about it, this is simply brilliant!
Film Drunk has made a visual compilation of every bone Steven Seagal has snapped, cracked and busted in all the assailants and villains he’s come across during his long and illustrious career, from 1990’s Hard to Kill, to last year’s Born to Raise Hell.
No femur, vertebra and raduis is safe in these clips and it would appear that every single one of his characters possess an almost superhuman aptitude to deliver a devastating punishment in one single blow.
It’s also fun to watch Seagal become more and more bloated and less athletic as the years go by, and the filmmaker have to depend on a number of close-ups and cutaways to give the impression that he still has a deadly prowess.
Anyway, take a look at all the rib-crunching, neck-splintered glory for yourselves:

I know many of you have been wondering, “When will Steven Seagal’s direct-to-video opus ‘Born to Raise Hell’ finally see the light of day on DVD and Blu-ray in the United States?” It’s a question I am asked on a fairly regular basis. However, up until this point, I didn’t have a response that would satisfy those who were in need of a little Seagal fix. Thankfully, Paramount will unleash the big guy’s Stv actioner “Born to Raise Hell” on the aforementioned formats on April 19th. No special features have been announced yet, and I seriously doubt they ever will be. Come on — this is a Seagal flick, not “Inception”. Here’s a handy synopsis for those who are curious: Seagal stars as Sanuel Axel, an Interpol agent assigned to an Eastern European task force targeting gun trafficking and dope running throughout the Balkans. While investigating a Russian gun dealer,...

He is the Governator no longer. But Arnie – terminate all thoughts of making serious films right now
He said he'd be back, and now he is. Stint as governor of California completed, Arnold Schwarzenegger has two paths open to him – one leading to the White House and one leading back to Hollywood. But until the American constitution allows foreign-born citizens to become president – and until American voters suddenly grow fond of men who've run entire states to the brink of irreversible bankruptcy – then Hollywood it is.
There's just one small problem, though. Is Arnold Schwarzenegger planning to make the films that Arnold Schwarzenegger should be making?
The answer, it seems, is no. In an interview with Austrian newspaper the Krone this week, Schwarzenegger claimed that he's currently giving consideration to three scripts, one of which would appear to be Wings of Eagles, a story about a benevolent, child-saving Nazi general.

Apparently Steven Seagal has a new movie out this week, a little ditty entitled “Born to Raise Hell”. Unfortunately for those of us who live in North American, the film in question is nowhere to be found. The rest of the world — particularly those who live in the UK — were treated to the movie’s endless entertainment options on October 18th. When will America be allowed to behold the glory that is “Born to Raise Hell”, you ask? Well, to be perfectly honest, I’m not entirely sure. According to a few blogs and a handful of form posts, the film was scheduled for release on October 19th, but as you can tell, it is currently missing in action. Curses! I need my fix! For those who are jonesing for it, here’s the synopsis: Samuel Axel (Steven Seagal) is a tough as nails Interpol Agent assigned to a task force in Eastern Europe.

Steven Seagal is... Born To Raise Hell. He's also probably hoping that his cameo in Robert Rodriguez's Machete will drag him out of the interminable straight-to-dvd exile in which he's lurked for many a year.
Steven Seagal is... working for the International Drug Task Force (Idtf) in Romania, on the trail of some Gypsy home invaders and a Russian drug trafficker. He uses his martial arts skills less these days, preferring ballistics instead. When his close combat skills are required, he develops a magical ability to send his foes flying into the air/ground/table/window/car door by simply gesticulating mildy. Just as well, since his aforementioned mass and lack of motivation renders him a presence rather than a threat.
