Love the show in Australia and the UK. Why the hell is that stupid pointless rating higher than this show. Ridiculous. The Chase is a great game show.
Really enjoy this program.
2 biggest factors for its success is 1. The host, and 2. The Chasers.
1. The host and how he hosts are a huge factor. He never says too much, but is brilliant at being a common man and playing off the contestants. I've seen other international versions where the host makes it about themselves instead of the contestants. He doesn't move around much, either, so the focus remains on the contestants. Just standing there, arms across your chest, as you read the questions is an underappreciated ability. He'll always be on the contestants side, where the rapport is evident, but still remains jovial with the chasers without taking much of the spotlight. Bradley Walsh can be polarizing due to his personality being that of a non-actor, but for this show, it fits perfectly.
2. The Chasers, as Mark Liebett has said in an interview, are not the best quizzers in the UK. The producers won't look for the best either, because the best can be boring. They look for good quizzers who have a personality and can play a villainous role. All their vollainous roles and nicknames suit their personality. Mark 'The Beast' - Aggressively competitive while being tall and girthy. All the characteristics of a beast in chase mode. Anne 'Frosty Knickers' - Cold and emotionless, which fits perfectly with an ASD sufferer who almost always struggle to react with and to emotions. Shaun 'Dark Destroyer' - While the 'dark' part could be a racial issue, I think it's more to do with being a lawyer and lawyers have a dark soul. He will destroy contestants when he's on, like when he got 17 questions right in 1:15. Paul 'The Smiling Assassin' - He's a comedian and is the most friendly of the chasers. He'll often crack jokes and make sarcastic remarks while winning.
All the Chasers, bar Shaun to an extent, are acting to their natural personality, and it fits the show's premise, which is why this show is so effective even though it's often predictable.
Well produced and well cast.

During the series 11 and the 100 th episode which was recently shown on Challenge television The question from Bradley Walsh was what religion did St Patrick bring to Ireland . The excepted answer from the contestant was Catholicism. That is totally wrong he brought Christianity not Catholicism . I live in Downpatrick NI and he is buried in Downe Cathedral - a protestant Presbyterian cathedral. The town also has a Catholic cathedral so if he had brought Catholicism he would be buried there . The Town has a St Patrick's centre and while the catholic church may try to Claim him that narrative is in correct.
The Chase seems to have been running for ages, and in all honesty, it's still the best gameshow on TV by a mile, the formula just works. A few new chasers have joined, but essentially they've left it unchanged.
It doesn't matter which Chaser faces the contestants, they each have so much to offer. The banter is always great, and Bradley is a wonderful presenter, he's just got it.
I hope it goes in for years to come, it's a cracking show. 9/10.

Not for the faint-hearted LOL You sit on the edge of your seat barracking for the contestants to beat "The Beast" Questions not too easy, and prob not too hard overall IF you live in the UK, but as an Australian I find a lot of questions re people and places known more to the locals of the United Kingdom and close surrounding countries well out of my wealth of knowledge! The format of both quick questions and multiple choice makes it a fun challenge to play along. Great to sit back at 3pm each weekday (or taped, over weekend) with a strong cup of tea... but you can easily forget to drink it as you get sucked deep into "The Chase"! A lot of fun and games. Easily the BEST WEEKDAY QUIZ on afternoon TV here in Australia! I give it a big thumbs up!!😉👍
