    Family Friendly

This is a clean show with decent acting. It is family friendly with funny music for kids. The gospel is told in simple kid language and straightforward. It's great to see how a kid going through so much suffering trusted in God and took His Word seriously. A great example of how to apply the Bible to our lives with scripture quotes. I hope this will soften some hard hearts that might be watching. Although I knew what was going to happen, I still cried. I also hoped deep down that perhaps a miracle would take place and he wouldn't die. However, other miracles took place. God's power of forgiveness is truly liberating to free yourself of all the guilt and anger.

I Knew Exactly How it Would End

There is no doubt 'Johnny' tugs at the heart strings and is an infinitely better film than the violent trash that clutters the tv channels. That this very sick boy would turn around a dysfunctional couple that were struggling to cope with the death of their own son I had no doubt. Everything was so predictable right up to the end but, even so, it was time well spent and it might make some people re-evaluate their relationships within their own family circle.

Trying to save 88 minutes of your life!!

The only positive I can say is I know I will Never watch this again!

I understand it was trying to have an uplifting , blah, blah, blah.

Believe me I have watched my share of Horrible movies on purpose, knowing it was going to be corny and a bad story line, and even expecting some bad acting.

But I have seen better acting in elementary school productions. Sad thing is I expected more from Lee Majors and he was in worse movie than this, and that's saying a lot. The message was clear but just had bad writing to back it up.

I would save your time , put the movie down, walk away.

Go outside, read a book, take up a new hobby, just don't watch this.

Yes I am probably being to mean but, you'll thank me later!!

    Inspirational

The plot seemed authentic. I loved the doctors house and property. The movie demonstrated how you can have it all and still be sad,

The boy showed the healing power of Scripture, and the benefits of memorizing parts of the Bible. I especially liked the role of the young spiritual life leader at the center.

It was a genuinely Christian movie.

It showed the positive view of a caring social worker and the foster care system.

And yes - I cried. I tried my best to not let my wife know that it was touching me so deeply. Maybe that is because my sister died from breast cancer at age 44 with three teenage kids.

    Sad - a bit much

Overall the plot and theme of the movie were OK. The worst part was the continual emphasis on the mother sobbing over and over and over. Enough already. We got it.

Sappy and unrealistic but the intent was good.

Director D. David Morin mentions (DVD at 02:47) that Jerry Phillips (Johnny) is an adopted foster child.
    • Goofs
Director D. David Morin points out (DVD at 07:18) that Johnny's red on white Kurt Warner football jersey (02:15 to 06:58) turns into a white on red jersey (at around 4 mins) when he is in Dr. Drew Carter's office waiting for the doctor. David adds that the wardrobe lead (Nancy Terryn) was ill one day (about day 12 on the 15 day shoot) and he didn't notice the change. Apparently, that was the day the white jersey was used because at 31:34 when Johnny and Kayla start out on a bicycle montage and Johnny is in the red jersey, David notes the shot was taken on day one of the shoot when they hired a crane for the sweeping panorama. The only other white jersey shots are during Johnny's first day at school (40:15 to 41:03).
