South Park: The Streaming Wars Part 2 will debut on the streaming service on July 13, MTV Entertainment Studios announced on Wednesday.

The first part of the made-for-tv film dropped on the streamer earlier this month. South Park: The Streaming Wars was well received by critics and noteworthy as it brought a fan-favorite character who previously only appeared in one episode: Water park owner Pi Pi.

South Park: The Streaming Wars Part 2 marks four of the 14 films creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone agreed to, in addition to the weekly Comedy Central series, when they signed their 900 million ViacomCBS deal last year.

South Park celebrated its 25th season earlier this year when the iconic sitcom made its return to weekly episodes for the first time since 2019 when the pandemic struck. The newest season consisted of six episodes.

“South Park the Streaming Wars Part 2” is just around the corner. The fourth made-for-streaming franchise film will debut on July 13.

Paramount+ also revealed that it will debut the fourth South Park television movie event later in the summer.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone are executive producers, along with Anne Garefino and Frank C. Agnone II. Eric Stough, Adrien Beard, Bruce Howell and Vernon Chatman are producers.

“South Park” has lined up a third event special on Paramount+.

The long-running animated series announced its latest exclusive event, titled “South Park: The Streaming Wars,” will premiere on Wednesday, June 1 on the streaming service. A fourth special will follow later this summer.

In the upcoming special, Cartman will lock horns with his mother in a battle of wills, “while an epic conflict unfolds and threatens South Park’s very existence,” per the streamer.

“Streaming Wars” follows the “South Park: Post Covid” and “South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid” specials, both of which debuted in 2021.

Paramount+ will become the exclusive streaming home of the entire catalogue of “South Park” episodes for the U.S. in 2025. The series version of the show currently streams on HBO Max.

Amidst the ongoing battle for eyeballs between the litany of big streaming platforms, a fight we have called the “Streaming Wars” in past blog entries, several new and persistent entities have emerged. Paramount+, formerly CBS All Access, is making a concerted push for a good chunk of the market, having yanked some of its biggest properties (most notably Star Trek shows) as free streaming options available on other streamers.

The newly revamped Paramount+ emerged on March 4th, 2021 to considerable fanfare. During its first year of life on the streaming stage, Paramount+ was able to capture plenty of consumer interest. By the conclusion of 2021, 3 of all JustWatch users were on the prowl for the services of Paramount+.

Our friends at JustWatch have sent us a fascinating appraisal of the most-searched titles available on the nascent streaming platform during its first year of life amidst the big boys like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu.

It has been an anomaly — two of ViacomCBS’ most prized current IPs and top basic cable series, Yellowstone and South Park, are streaming outside of the company’s ecosystem, on NBCUniversal’s Peacock (Yellowstone) and HBO Max (South Park). One of the two will be rectified after the end of HBO Max’s current mega, five-year domestic deal.

Additionally, the Beavis and Butt-Head revival series, originally set at Comedy Central with a two-season order in 2020, will be moving to Paramount+ with a new season, joining the previously announced Beavis and Butt-Head movie, which has now been titled, Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe. The full library of over 200 remastered episodes of the MTV animated series also will stream exclusively on the service.

“South Park” is headed back home to ViacomCBS.

The company announced that the Comedy Central adult animated series will stream exclusively on Paramount Plus beginning in 2025, after the expiration of “South Park’s” $500 million deal with HBO Max, set in 2019. In markets outside of the U.S., the full “South Park” catalog will become available on Paramount Plus later this year.

In addition, all new episodes of the series will go to Paramount Plus, starting with Season 27 in 2024, both in the U.S. and globally. As part of MTV Entertainment Studios’ new deal with co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, “South Park” will extend through its 30th season along with 14 specials on Paramount Plus, building on “South Park: Post Covid” and “South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid,” which debuted in 2021.

Paramount+ will become the exclusive streaming home of the entire catalogue of “South Park” episodes for the U.S. in 2025, moving the episodes over from their current home at HBO Max. Ahead of that, however, the complete library of all 310 episodes of “South Park” will be available to stream on Paramount+ internationally in 2022.

Additionally, beginning with Season 27 of the show in 2024, new episodes of “South Park” will have their U.S. and global streaming premieres on Paramount+. New episodes will continue to air linearly on Comedy Central.

ViacomCBS missed Wall Street forecasts for earnings per share in the fourth quarter, but added a record 9.4 million streaming subscribers and smashed revenue projections.

Wall Street analysts had expected earnings of 43 cents, but they came in at 26 cents on an adjusted, diluted basis compared with $1.04 in the year-earlier quarter.

Revenue of $8 billion, though, far outdistanced estimates for $7.51 billion, climbing 16%.

Investors seemed unnerved by the earnings miss, sending shares down 4% in after-hours trading after they had closed the regular session at $35.99.

Streaming was by far the standout category in terms of revenue, shooting up 48% to $1.3 billion on the top line. Advertising, by contrast, flatlined at $2.6 billion, up just 1% due to lower political spending and fewer linear impressions.

South Park, fresh off its two December Post Covid movie events, will return to Comedy Central for its 25th season next month.

The long-running animated comedy from co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker will return with six episodes on Wednesday, Feb. 2 to celebrate its milestone premiere. Weekly episodes will then follow, for the first time since the last full season in 2019.

The irreverent comedy has been renewed on Comedy Central through 2027 and will expand with a total of 14 original movies on Paramount+, in the co-creators’ massive deal with ViacomCBS.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, South Park has taken on a number of topics ranging from vaccines, Q-Anon and more with its specials. The first in 2020 was South Park’s ‘Pandemic Special,’ which marked the series’ best ratings in seven years.

“South Park” has received its Season 25 premiere date from Comedy Central. The show, which aired two standalone specials in September 2020 and March 2021 that served as Season 24, last aired a full season — its 23rd — in 2019. The franchise has also aired two movies set in the “South Park” world on Paramount Plus in recent months.

The 25th season of “South Park” will premiere Wednesday, Feb. 2. Per Comedy Central, Season 25 of the animated series, which first debuted in 1997, will kick off with six new episodes.

At the first year-end since the March 4 launch of ViacomCBS’ Paramount+, the streaming platform has released some information about consumption of its original content. There are no hard numbers as no streamer besides Netflix has released viewership stats yet but there is a list of some of Paramount+’s top performers.

The most watched original series on Paramount+ in 2021 was one of the service’s oldest titles, CBS All Access carryover Star Trek: Discovery. It was followed by the iCarly revival, which was P+’s was the second-most-watched original series.

Going down the list, the most watched original drama series on the platform (Paramount+ classifies drama Star Trek: Discovery a sci-fi series) was Seal Team, followed by Evil. Both shows became Paramount+ originals this year after starting off on CBS.
