Types in Stereo

Types in Stereo is a well made and enjoyable short film. It also has a thought provoking twist that encourages multiple viewings. The surprise ending goes by very quickly and could lead the viewer to question their previous assumptions of the characters. On subsequent viewings, you see that hints to the ending's twist were there all along. I thoroughly enjoyed this short twelve minute film –even without the twist.

The film appears to be made in the North-East quadrant of Washington, D.C. The focus takes place in one neighborhood. The neighborhood is filmed in a way that captures its sights and sounds. The first part of the film we watch Professor Morris stroll through the neighborhood but it is not revealed why he is there. Immediately, some things don't seem right. He is more nervous and ill-at-ease than he should be and his phone conversation with his wife is friendly but not candid concerning his whereabouts.

The second half deals with a street corner conversation between Morris and another man. We are drawn into the conversation between the Philosophy professor and the amateur philosopher. It's an engaging and stimulating conversation but there is underlying tension and awkwardness and you get the impression that something is not quite right about this casual intellectual exchange.
