Hugh Grant and rom-coms were a match made in movie heaven. The floppy-haired charmer ruled the ’90s with Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, and Bridget Jones’s Diary. His bumbling, awkward-yet-smooth persona made him the ultimate leading man. But there comes a time when even the king of romance must hang up his crown. And when that time came, Grant took a wild left turn.
Goodbye, lovestruck bookshop owner. Hello, eccentric oddball. He went full throttle into quirky and villainous roles. From the theatrical Phoenix Buchanan in Paddington 2 to a scheming private investigator in The Gentlemen, he reinvented himself brilliantly. His recent roles in Wonka and Jerry Seinfeld’s Unfrosted prove he’s having fun—and audiences love it.
But there was one genre he avoided like the plague: horror. His only brushes with the spooky side were The...

Unfrosted might not be fully accurate in its portrayal of the race to create the first toaster pastry, but it does capture an essential truth: The more specific nostalgia is, the more universal its appeal. Which is why Unfrosted’s director, co-writer, and star Jerry Seinfeld’s personal passion for the Pop-Tart can be seen through the lens of a subversive yet somehow sweet look back at the ’60s, a time when kids roamed free (and right into dumpsters) and Shakespearean actors moonlighted as cereal mascots.
About that — the mascot in question is Tony the Tiger, and the real-life actor who voiced him was named Thurl Ravenscroft. And while, no, he was not a thespian who specialized in the Bard’s work, that’s the spin Hugh Grant has put on the character in Unfrosted, to great effect. Below, Grant talks to Tudum about playing a “frustrated old actor,” whether...

In the '90s and early 2000s, few leading men could match the unassuming star power of Hugh Grant. After some early roles, mostly in period pieces, Grant broke out in a big way in 1994's Four Weddings and a Funeral, quickly becoming one of the most bankable romantic leads in Hollywood. His status as a box office heavyweight began to slip somewhat in the latter part of the 2000s, and he eventually took a few years away from the business, returning in smaller supporting roles in the 2010s.
In recent years, Grant has started playing more of a certain type of role that he never got to play in his heyday: villains. He's managed to leverage his public persona both on and offscreen to delightful effect, playing antagonists in everything from Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thievesto Paddington 2, culminating in his role in 2024's Heretic. Live from New York, it’s Lady Gaga…and she has some things to say. Lady Gaga took on both hosting and music duties on this weekend’s SNL, but it was her opening monologue where she had the most to say, taking a bit of a dig at flop Joker: Folie à Deux and its Razzie wins.
During her monologue while hosting SNL, Lady Gaga said, “Anyway, I’m an actor now. I select films that would showcase my craft as a serious actor, films such as Joker 2. Apparently, people thought it was awesome. Joaquin [Phoenix] and I even got nominated for a Razzie, which is an award for the worst films of the year. Before her untimely death on Feb. 26, Michelle Trachtenberg was primarily known for her work in front of the camera on such beloved hits as Harriet the Spy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Gossip Girl. However, according to producer Casey Tebo, she was so much more than just an accomplished actress. She was, in fact, "an incredible writer," and now he's making it his mission to bring a screenplay she wrote to life.
Speaking with People recently, Tebo said he was presented with Trachtenberg's script, Toy Monster, by her boyfriend, Jay Cohen. "I don't remember when, but my dear friend Jay Cohen sent me a script she had written called Toy Monster," he told the outlet, adding:
"The only scripts I remember staying with me like that in recent memory were two. Here Comes the Flood by Simon Kinberg and Toy Monster around 2019. Because they were the two best, by a landslide.

The world of comedy has no shortage of stars, and there are many seasoned and upcoming stars who have made a name for themselves. When it comes to financial success, one would think that the seasoned actors like Jerry Seinfeld or Adam Sandler would be way ahead of the recent comedy school graduates. However, that is far from the truth; as per 2025 rankings, Kevin Hart has surpassed them all.

Hart, apart from being an actor and comedian, is also a producer, host, and more, and has accumulated a massive net worth thanks to his many ventures. Recently, he has been named the third highest-paid actor of 2024, shocking fans with his meteoric rise to success.

In 2019, Joker won Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar, and in 2025, Joker 2 took the actor straight to a Razzie. A downfall no one could have predicted, yet here we are. What started as a career-defining moment with his Oscar-winning performance has now taken a sharp turn.

Joker 2 walked away with two Golden Raspberry Awards, winning in the categories of “Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel ” and “Worst Screen Combo.“

Joker: Folie à Deux didn’t just flop, it practically danced its way into the Razzies. The musical sequel to Todd Phillips‘ Oscar-nominated Joker racked up a brutal seven nominations, despite the Razzies initially miscounting and saying six (still didn’t cover up the shame though).

With the 97th Oscars just days away, celebrating the best movies and performances of 2024, the 45th Razzies is highlighting the worst of the worst. Among the films nominated for Worst Picture, Madame Web took home the top prize.
Among the other films nominated for the Golden Raspberry for Worst Picture were the highly anticipated sequel (and highly disappointing), Joker: Folie à Deux; Francis Ford Coppola's bizarre Megalopolis; big-budget (and bigger bomb) video game adaptation, Borderlands; and the Reagan biopic with Dennis Quaid. The Oscars will honor the best movie of the year this Sunday, but the infamous Razzie Awards have crowned the “worst” of 2024’s films.
Sony’s much-derided superhero film “Madame Web” has the (dis)honor of winning three Razzies, including worst picture, actress for Dakota Johnson and screenplay. “Joker: Folie à Deux,” another divisive superhero entry,” led with seven nominations and took home screen combo for Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga and prequel, remake, rip-off or sequel.
Francis Ford Coppola won for directing his big-budget epic “Megalopolis,” and star Jon Voight won supporting actor for the film — shared with his turns in “Reagan,” “Shadow Land” and “Strangers.” Coppola’s “Megalopolis” received six nominations, which was tied for second-most nods with “Madame Web,” “Borderlands” and “Reagan.”
The famed filmmaker responded to his Razzies on Instagram, saying “box office is only about money, and like war, stupidity and politics has no true place in our future.

Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis was a risky undertaking that saw the director spend $120 million of his own money to get the movie made. Unfortunately, it was a gamble that didn't pay off, at least not at the box office, where the picture wound up taking in just $14.3 million dollars. The bad news continued for Coppola when his passion project failed to get nominated for a single Oscar this year, but there was one awards ceremony that saw it nominated for several trophies: The Razzies.
Coppola won the award for Worst Director for Megalopolis at the 45th Golden Raspberry Awards, and he took to social media (seen below) to give his acceptance speech, in which he slammed a "gutless" Hollywood that he says is "terrified of risk." He also commented that the box office success of a film should have no bearing on its artistic merits. "I am thrilled to...

Francis Ford Coppola "won" Worst Director at the Razzie Awards for his ambitious, self-financed epic Megalopolis. And he actually accepted the "honor," letting the Razzies and Hollywood know what he thinks about them in an unfiltered social media post. "I am thrilled to accept the Razzie Award," he stated, "when so few have the courage to go against the prevailing trends of contemporary moviemaking!"
Coppola, a five-time Oscar winner, continued, "In this wreck of a world today, where Art is given scores as if it were professional wrestling, I chose to Not follow the gutless rules laid down by an industry so terrified of risk that despite the enormous pool of young talent at its disposal, may not create pictures that will be relevant and alive 50 years from now." The 45th Razzie Awards results are in. Sony’s Madame Web is the clear winner/loser of this year’s dragging of cinematic mediocrity with three wins, including Worst Picture, Worst Actress for Dakota Johnson, and Worst Screenplay. The Razzie results arrive two days before Oscar Sunday when films that some consider the best of the best have their chance to shine.
Madame Web taking the top prize is unsurprising given the movie’s abysmal quality. It was my worst film of 2024 and a Golden Schmoe nominee for worst movie of 2024, only to be beaten by Todd Phillips’s Joker: Folie a Deux. Dakota Johnson hardly tried to defend the film during its PR tour, saying she “probably will never make anything like it again.” To be fair, she enjoyed working with her castmates, who, despite circumstances, gave Madame Web the old college try, but the film turned into something...

Madame Web is your Worst Picture of 2024, according to the Razzie Awards, which were unveiled this morning. Its star Dakota Johnson also was dishonored, as was its screenplay, making it the only three-time loser at the 45th Golden Raspberry Awards. The full list is below.

The winners have just been announced for this year's Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the "Razzies." They include a big "win" garnered for Francis Ford Coppola, but the famed director had a good sense of humor about the acknowledgment.
Per THR, the full list of Razzie winners was unveiled on Friday, just ahead of this year's Academy Awards ceremony. The annual nominations acknowledge the "worst" movies, filmmakers, and performances from the prior year, and there was no shortage of comic book adaptations up for big honors this year. However, when it came to Worst Director, Francis Ford Coppola got the win for his polarizing, big-budget feature Megalopolis. Taking to Instagram, Coppola commented on the revelation, noting how he nevertheless remains proud of the film, along with himself for taking some risks outside the standard Hollywood movie formula.

While film fans will have to wait until Sunday to find out the winners of the 2025 Oscars, the worst in film this year, the winners of the 2025 Razzies, have been revealed.
Topping this year’s awards with three wins, including worst picture, is Sony’s critically panned box office bust Madame Web.
Madame Web also won worst actress for star Dakota Johnson and worst screenplay.
Johnson previously spoke out about her experience with Madame Web, saying the script radically changed from what she initially read and that she was unlikely to “do anything like it again.”
“It was definitely an experience for me to make that movie,” Johnson told Bustle in an interview that was published a few weeks after the film was released. “I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again, because I don’t make sense in that world.

Kate Hudson has had a robust career, but “Running Point” marks a first for the actress. Believe it or not, this is her first leading TV role.
Now streaming on Netflix, the series focuses on Isla Gordon (Hudson), as she’s unexpectedly given control of her family’s basketball team, the Waves. Though a fictional team and story, “Running Point” is loosely based on Lakers president Jeanie Buss.
Here are all the major players you’ll need to know in the series.
Netflix Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson)
Isla Gordon is the sole daughter of the Gordon family, and is taken fully by surprise when her oldest brother hands her the reins to the team. She’s played by Kate Hudson, known for films like “Almost Famous,” “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” and many, many more.

Mindy Kaling is back with Running Point. She has been a singular comic voice on television for the past fifteen years. Her Fox and Hulu series The Mindy Project, which you can also find streaming on Netflix, was one of the funniest sitcoms of the decade. Then came the semi-autobiographical Never Have I Ever, a hilarious coming-of-age story unlike anything else on television, whether streaming or network.
However, Running Point is nothing like those shows because it’s just another run-of-the-mill comedy. The series is not particularly funny, relying too heavily on excessive exposition and basketball lingo that isn’t executed well. It’s pleasant enough but ultimately a gigantic letdown, given the cast and the talent involved, particularly behind the camera.

Exclusive: QC Entertainment, the company behind Get Out and BlacKkKlansman, has completed the Victoria, BC shoot on horror film The Casket Girls with four major additions to the cast: Mike Colter (Evil), Raúl Castillo (Smile 2), Matt Frewer (Perry Mason), and Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!).
As previously announced, Gabrielle Union leads the ensemble. Lennon also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Robert Ben Garant, his partner on Night at the Museum and numerous other projects, with revisions by Keith Cooper (Anything for Jackson) & Justin Dyck (Anything for Jackson), who directed the film.
The Casket Girls is inspired by true events involving a group of young women sent from France to New Orleans to become brides to French colonists in the early 1700s. They arrived with small chests, or “caskets” of their belongings, hence the name given by locals. According to legend, upon the girls’ arrival, the homicide rate in New Orleans rose dramatically,...

Start spreading the news – James Marsden wants to play Ol’ Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra. So, would Marsden have the world of a string in the role or would he get under our skin?
Speaking with The Post, Marsden said the inspiration he gets from the ring-a-ding-ding era of singers has drawn him to such a project. “I’ve always loved emulating some of the old crooners, like Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. I always thought there were so many interesting stories of Frank Sinatra’s life that could be played. And for whatever reason, you’ve never really seen a movie about him.”
That’s not entirely accurate, as Frank Sinatra has been portrayed on screens both small and big a handful of times. First there was Philip Casnoff in 1992’s TV movie Sinatra (earning a Golden Globe nomination), which seems like a risky movie considering...

Ted Sarandos sympathizes with directors who long dreamed their movies would end up on the big screen only to land on streaming as the business continues to shift away from movie theaters.
While talking with Tom Papa and Fortune Feimster on SiriusXM’s “What a Joke” podcast, the Netflix co-ceo tackled the ongoing topic that is the future of the movie theater. Sarandos acknowledged that the business has gotten tougher while saying he feels for directors whose movies never see the silver screen.
“I talk to a lot of directors and I totally respect that they — a lot of them grew up and this was their dream, to have the gigantic screen and a room full of strangers,” he said. “It’s a very tough business model anymore. And I just feel like, I hope it is always around as an option. I just think it will be more and more challenging.

Wicked, Conclave, and Nosferatu took top honors at the 29th Annual Art Directors Guild Awards (aka the Excellence in Production Design Awards) Saturday. Rachael Harris hosted the show from the InterContinental Ballroom in Los Angeles.
The Art Directors Guild divides its top film prizes into Period, Contemporary, and Fantasy Feature categories, which went to the Oscar-nominated production designers for Nosferatu, Conclave, and Wicked, respectively. Since the inception of these awards, the winner of one of those three has gone on to win the Best Art Direction/Production Design Oscar in 19 of the 28 years and 10 of the past 11 years. The three films will go up against Dune: Part Two and The Brutalist next month for the production design Academy Award, with Wicked considered not only the frontrunner but a heavily-favored one at that.
Nosferatu won top Period Feature over fellow nominees A Complete Unknown, The Brutalist, Gladiator II, and Saturday Night.

It's rare that the fourth film in a franchise will get the best reviews of the bunch, especially when it's released a whole decade after the previous movie in the franchise, but that seems to be the case with Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. The film has a higher critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes than the previous three entries and is surprisingly successful with fans, especially when you consider the fact that it's been relegated to the streaming platform Peacock, at least in the U.S. It seems to be a rare case of quality actually getting the recognition it deserves. "It's a really good script," said Hugh Grant in a MovieWeb interview in 2024. "In my humble opinion, it's the best script of the four films so far."

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy celebrates Valentine’s Day by ranking No. 1 on Peacock. Renée Zellweger returns to the small screen as the romantic comedy’s titular character for the first time since Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016) and discovers the "casual cruelty" of being ghosted by a new lover. However, despite nearly a decade having passed, the latest sequel in the franchise is scoring with both critics and audiences, even though the film has killed off Bridget’s husband and fan-favorite Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). Book lovers know that Mark also died in author Helen Fielding's 2013 novel of the same name.
Peacock's Mad About the Boy currently registers a “Certified Fresh” 85% on the Tomatometer against 80 reviews posted by the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans are also enjoying Mrs. Darcy's return to the dating world, as evidenced by the rom-com’s Popcornmeter rating (formerly the Rt audience score) of 83%. This time around,...

Did you hear? Amy Schumer is about to be "Kinda Pregnant." That's how Netflix's Tudum chose to introduce the comedian's new film, and while such a headline might seem so confusing that nobody ever watched the movie, quite the opposite has transpired over on the king of the streaming platforms.
According to the site, the film is "about a woman who fakes a pregnancy — and maybe falls in love," which I can't help but think is all that was said in the pitch meeting before this one got the greenlight. Why? Because "Kinda Pregnant" has a 22% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and perhaps even more damning, a 23% audience score. Which is another way of saying that we have yet another middling streaming film on our hands.
Perhaps it's unfair to be so dismissive. After all, the great Will Forte is in "Kinda Pregnant," and it's produced by Adam Sandler's Happy Madison company.

The Producers Guild of America named Anora the best picture of the year at the 2025 PGA Awards. The surprise win came just an hour after director Sean Baker took home the DGA’s top prize — establishing the Neon film as the official Oscars frontrunner for Best Picture. Anora also won Best Picture at last night’s Critics Choice Awards.
Anora defeated fellow Oscar nominees The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, The Substance, and Wicked — as well as non-Oscar nominees A Real Pain and September 5. The two Oscar nominees that missed out on PGA noms were I’m Still Here and Nickel Boys.

The Kinda Pregnant reviews are in and they’re kinda bad — Rotten Tomatoes has a 22 percent critics’ rating for Amy Schumer’s new Netflix comedy. The comedian is taking the pans personally. “It gets more clicks to trash someone, especially me,” she said in a recent Instagram post.
Schumer gave a shoutout to critic Owen Glieberman for “the bravery to say you like something” after his mostly positive review in Variety. That separates Glieberman from those who “don’t like physical comedy or you are a single guy who prefers sci-fi or sometimes the assignment is to trash something.”
Cracked must not be interested in clicks, based on our positive review of Schumer’s new comedy. But I’m not sure how to break this to the comic — there’s no internet fortune to be made in saying a movie is so-so. When Natalia Winkelman at the New York Times...

We’ve all had those moments when a joke falls flat. The awkward silence, the uncomfortable shifting in your seat, and the soul-crushing realization that your audience is less than amused. But then, there are those rare breed of comedians who know exactly how to handle it when the going gets tough. Need example? Jerry Seinfeld, the king of keeping his cool under fire.
Of course, who better than Seinfeld to show us how to dodge the trickiest questions, especially when it feels like you’ve been backed into a corner?

Just when video game adaptations were starting to break free from the stigma of poor adaptations, Borderlands flopped. Borderlands, based on the RPG looter shooter series developed by Gearbox Studios, had an easy path to success. Borderlands is known for being hilarious, but still capable of telling engaging stories. Its colorful dog-eat-dog universe is fun to explore and its uncountable number of guns ensures there are surprises around every corner.
Sadly, despite a star-studded cast, the Borderlands movie failed to properly bring the franchise to live-action. Borderlands hit for the Triple Crown of video game adaptation failures: panned by critics, panned by fans of the series, and performed poorly at the box office. With the 45th Golden Raspberry Awards coming March 1, Borderlands has a chance to secure video...

From Happy Madison & It’s So Easy Productions, Kinda Pregnant brings actor/comedian Amy Schumer back to film leading lady status for the first time since 2018’s I Feel Pretty. However, it’s hardly a comeback for Schumer as she has been hard at work since then as she’s written & performed multiple comedy specials, created & starred in Hulu’s Life After Beth, brought back Inside Amy Schumer for a 5 episode run in 2022, & co-starred in several films including The Humans, Bros, & Netflix’s Unfrosted. She also became a mother in 2019, which was well documented in the miniseries Expecting Amy released on HBO Max in 2020.
This new film, co-written & co-produced by Schumer, centers on pregnancy and motherhood as well (kinda) with Amy’s character Lainy finding herself desperate & jealous as a woman in her 40s who’s wanted a family of her own since childhood.

“Kinda Pregnant” is a Netflix comedy film that offers a twist on the romantic comedy genre. Directed by Tyler Spindel and written by Julie Paiva and Amy Schumer, the movie stars Schumer as Lainy, a woman whose life takes an unexpected turn when her plans to settle down and start a family fall apart.
The film’s premise revolves around Lainy’s unconventional decision to wear a fake baby bump out of jealousy for her best friend’s pregnancy. This seemingly harmless act of deception leads to a series of comedic situations and, surprisingly, a chance at love. As Lainy navigates the challenges of maintaining her fake pregnancy, she unexpectedly meets the man of her dreams, adding a layer of complexity to her already complicated situation.

Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, co-creators of the hit sitcom "Seinfeld," have famously said that their show is, quite deliberately, about nothing. The main characters of "Seinfeld" are pointedly petty and unsophisticated, usually too lost in their own well-established neuroses to pay attention to any potential life lessons that might float their way. David and Seinfeld insisted that their show end without tears, hugs, or morals. No one was allowed to learn anything.
A show about nothing, however, had a big impact. "Seinfeld" became one of the defining texts of the 1990s, and millions of viewers tuned in every week during the show's nine seasons. Even before "Seinfeld" was canceled in 1998, it entered into some pretty sweet syndication deals, and it became highly sought after by local stations and network affiliates. "Seinfeld" was generating so much revenue, it would make Croesus blush. As recently reported by Parade, Seinfeld himself was...

The last time Amy Schumer was pregnant, she turned in an Emmy-nominated comedy special; this time, she’s only Kinda Pregnant. Due on Netflix Feb. 5, the new Happy Madison film by The Out-Lawsdirector Tyler Spindel and written by Schumer and Julie Paiva stars the comedian as Lainy, a woman who gets so jealous of her best friend’s pregnancy that she starts to wear a fake baby bump of her own. Of course, hijinks ensue — but also… love? See for yourself in the trailer up top.
Kinda Pregnant is Schumer’s second starring role in a narrative feature for Netflix, after a formidable lineup of stand-up specials and her most recent appearance in Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story.

The biggest mystery coming out of this week’s Razzie Awards nominations isn’t how Jerry Seinfeld scored a Worst Actor nod for Unfrosted. The real confounding question is how Unfrosted didn’t make the shortlist for the year’s Worst Picture.
Play
You’d think Unfrosted was a lock after scoring in so many Worst categories. Amy Schumer was recognized as Worst Supporting Actress for her unlikable turn as breakfast mogul Majorie Post. Seinfeld got a second and well-deserved nomination as Worst Director. And Unfrosted got a special nod in the Worst Screen Combo, nominated for “Any Two Unfunny ‘Comedic Actors’” — in many ways, the entire cast can consider themselves winners. Or losers. You get it.
Unfortunately for Unfrosted, this year’s nominee list for Worst Picture was dominated by sci-fi and comic book movies, including Borderlands, Joker: Folie a Deux, Madame Web and Megalopolis. Unless you count Reagan,...

The 45th Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) will be held on March 1, 2025, to recognize the worst films of 2024. The nominees were originally set to be announced on January 16, but due to wildfires in Southern California, the announcement was delayed several times, eventually being revealed on January 21.
The nominees were chosen by 1,202 members of the Golden Raspberry Foundation, including movie fans, critics, and journalists. This year, many comic book adaptations received nominations, such as ‘The Crow,’ ‘Madame Web,’ ‘Joker: Folie à Deux,’ and ‘Kraven the Hunter.’
Several well-known actors, including Ariana DeBose, Cate Blanchett, and Joaquin Phoenix, were also mentioned, with Jon Voight getting a nod for his roles in four films. 2024 was really bad for superhero adaptations considering that the movies received eighteen nominations overall.
