Gosh!!!! I wish i could give this movie a 10! After seeing "Validation" short movie so many times, i was already a fan of TJ Thyne. Well, he does not disappoint in Shuffle, neither any of the other actors. The plot is clever, the photography is amazing (the B&W really works!), and time flew by as i was living the story... until the VERY END almost ruined it all! I agree with other review here... After those last minutes, i felt like i was slapped on the face, after being swept away! I did not understand the need of that last scene, as everything falls in place without it.
Watch it if you can. It's a very nice piece of cinema art!
P.S: Only after yesterday's episode of "Bones" i realized that Thyne is Dr. Jack Hodgins!! Maybe my head was focused because i was "getting shuffled" latter on!

"Everyday I wake up at a different age in a different year on a different day of my life and it's scaring the hell out of me. I want it to stop." Lovell Milo (Thyne) is trying to figure out what happened with his life. Lately he has been waking up at different ages at different times in his life. One day he will be 24 fall asleep and wake up 8. Wake up at 92 fall asleep and be 20. On top of that he has narcolepsy so he has no control over when he changes. He wakes up one morning and realizes he is engaged and he is really happy, when he wakes up again its a few years later and his wife is dead. He know is trying to do everything he can to stop that from happening. I was very much looking forward to this movie. One of the most original ideas to come out in a while. I was expecting it to be a little like "Memento" but it was original. The acting is OK and the movie is pretty low budget but I really enjoyed this. It gets to the point where you feel for Lovell and every time he falls asleep you feel sorry for him. The way the movie is set up you honestly can't predict what happens next witch is great and really keeps you interested the entire time. The only thing that ruined the movie is the twist at the very end. Movie is going along great and the the last 30 seconds really took all the air out of it and really disappointed me. I would still recommend this but be warned that the ending isn't satisfying. Overall, a very good low budget movie that is worth seeing but had an ending that almost ruined the movie. I give it a B+.
I was expecting this to be a time travel thriller/mystery, but it ultimately turned out to be more of an "It's a Wonderful Life" kind of thing. And oddly enough, I wasn't disappointed when it headed in that direction. It definitely has its issues: needless melodrama, cliches all over the place, a twist that isn't too hard to figure out, and an ending that just seems superfluous. However, maybe I just watched this on the right day or something because I found myself sucked in by the sweetness of it. With all the bad stuff going on in the world every day, this movie was a nice little diversion that made me laugh and cry, and left me with a nice case of the warm fuzzies.
Really worth seeing! If you like films that make you think - time travel, alternate realities etc. you'll enjoy this.
Every path chosen leads us down a road, the one that we know as our life. What about the paths that we don't choose - do they still lead lives of their own?
Great concept, outstanding acting (who knew the nerd from Bones had that performance in him? ;) and just an amazing job. There could have been a bunch of different ways to end it but that's the fun - the film inspires dialogue, ideas and debate.
Love seeing high quality films on low budgets - gives us all hope.
Long live Independent films!

The beginning of the movie hooks you completely, the story presents itself as very interesting and full of mystery, to some extent it reminded me to Memento (2000) or The Butterfly Effect (2004) but as it progresses the film becomes Premonition (2007) mixed with Déjà vu (2006), the cuts in the time-lines are completely lose and end up telling you the story in a linear way until the end that concludes extremely cheesy pretty much like Hallmark Channel style. The message is nice but freezes up there, does not go further, and it is unfortunate since the initial approach was to be an excellent thriller but the script ended up being a soap opera. A real shame.
