The box office numbers for James Gunn’s Superman will have you looking up as the Dcu reboot continues to break records. And the latest revelation is sure to have Snyder fans screaming. Introducing David Corenswet as the superhero icon, Superman has been met with positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike, both of whom have embraced the more traditionally hopeful depiction of the character after Zack Snyder and the Dceu’s divisive take.
Now, according to reports, Superman has another record under his yellow belt. The Dcu outing has now amassed more than $500 million at the worldwide box office, which includes $292 million in the United States and Canada, meaning that Superman has now overtaken Man of Steel and become the highest-grossing Superman solo movie domestically.
This latest record is another example of how high Superman has soared in a post-covid, post-damaging Dceu world. As well as now being...

DC Studios heads Peter Safran and James Gunn have launched a new cinematic universe. Chapter One of the DC Universe, Gods and Monsters, officially got started with season 1 of the animated series Creature Commandos back in December, with Superman being the first film in the universe. Peacemaker season 2, which premieres in August, is also part of the Dcu. Other upcoming entries include the film Supergirl, which reaches theatres in June of 2026, the film Clayface, which reaches theatres in September of 2026, and the HBO series Lanterns. A couple of weeks ago, The Wall Street Journal revealed that the universe could continue to expand with TV shows that center on characters who are introduced in Superman. Specifically, they mentioned that “a knowledgeable person” told them Gunn is considering TV spinoffs for characters like superhero Mr. Terrific and reporter Jimmy Olsen. Now, fans have noticed that DC has filed trademark applications for ‘Mr. Terrific’ in multiple categories: Apparel,...

All eyes are still on the box office results for James Gunn’s Superman reboot, with the financial earnings of the first big-screen Dcu outing expected to decide the future of the fledgling franchise. While debate rages on regarding whether Superman has been the success the studio hoped for, it’s slowly becoming harder and harder for the naysayers (largely Snyder fans) to keep up the facade that Gunn’s take on the Man of Steel has not done exactly what it needed to do.
The latest box office reports reveal that Superman is more than keeping up with its comic book counterparts over at Marvel, having now grossed $406.8 globally in a huge win for the superhero outing. After dropping a less-than-expected 54% over the weekend, matching that of the McU's hugely successful Deadpool & Wolverine, Superman picked up another $57.2 million, totalling a 10-day domestic tally of $235 million, according to THR.

Paramount Global and its broadcast network CBS have decided to end “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in May.
The announcement was made by Colbert during a taping of his show at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, where Late Show has been filmed since it started on the network in the early 1990s.
Paramount later confirmed the decision in a statement released Thursday afternoon, with co-ceo and CBS President George Cheeks saying the decision was made out of consideration for the financial expenses associated with the program.
“It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount,” Cheeks promised.

James Gunn’s Superman is flying rings around the box office with a worldwide debut of $217 million, giving the Blue Boy Scout a reason to smile all the way to the Metropolis Bank. The film’s tremendous success comes after months of speculation and online smear campaigns. However, the proof is in Ma Kent’s Blue Ribbon-winning pudding pie, as the movie boasts an A-rating on CinemaScore, and tickets continue to sell like hotcakes.
On Sunday, James Gunn posted a thank-you message to fans, expressing gratitude for their support and willingness to give his vision of the Man of Steel an honest shot.

After years of waiting, David Corenswet is now all set to take to the skies as the Man of Steel in James Gunn’s Superman reboot. The reviews from critics have now emerged, with the Dcu take on the superhero icon having now received a rating on Rotten Tomatoes. So, is Superman the cinematic iteration of the character that fans have been longing for? Or does the Man of Tomorrow come crashing down with a rotten thud?
While Rotten Tomatoes is not the be-all and end-all when it comes to movie criticism, it has become a quick and simple way for fans to gauge whether something has succeeded or failed. Of course, there will always be discrepancies, but with this in mind (and we would still always recommend that you check out a movie for yourself regardless), let’s find out how Superman has fared with critics, and whether James...

James Gunn’s Superman reboot kicks off the new Dcu this summer, with the first outing for the Man of Steel both reintroducing the character to audiences while setting up the wider franchise. And while Gunn has previously explained how the Dcu will differentiate itself from the MCU (think quality over quantity), the writer, director, and co-Chief of DC Studios will take some cues from modern comic book moviemaking. Namely, we now have details of Superman’s post-credits scenes.
As the first social media reactions flood in, with critics and lucky fans finally able to reveal their thoughts, feelings, and minor details about the highly anticipated comic book movie, X/Twitter user @HollywoodHandle has revealed that Superman will offer double the fun with its post-credits scenes. Popularized by the MCU and the franchise’s desire to world-build, the Dcu will seemingly follow suit, delivering not one but two scenes after the credits.

The summer of Superman is finally upon us and, with the social media embargo now lifted, we finally know if all the waiting, all the hype, all the discourse, and all the marketing, was worth it. Playing an iconic character like Superman, and dealing with all the baggage and public scrutiny that comes with it, isn’t for everyone. Even David Corenswet, who stars in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman, admitted to GQ that he wrestled with the decision and tried to come up with reasons to say no.
“A role like Superman seems like something that everybody would want, and that’s not true. There are some people who wouldn’t want that role and who would, if given the opportunity, say no. I am obviously not one of those people. But I certainly tried to think of reasons not to,” Corenswet said. “Ultimately, what I landed on for myself was, if this is the only role I get to play for the rest of my life, and that means whether I get to play it once or get to play it 10 times, would I still say yes?...

While this weekend at the box office belongs to Jurassic World Rebirth, the next two-day respite from work (for most) belongs to the Man of Steel in the red trunks, Superman! James Gunn’s highly anticipated superhero film flies into theaters on July 11, giving the Dcu a fresh start after years of Zack Snyder-directed sequels, subpar solo films, and outliers that deserved better – I’m looking at you, Blue Beetle, Birds of Prey, and The Suicide Squad. Leaping tall buildings in a single bound for Superman is David Corenswet. However, there’s an Elseworlds scenario in which Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) suited up as Big Blue, but James Gunn wanted a particular chemistry for his latest DC film.

We’re days away from the big blue boy scout flying back into theaters for a new reimagining, courtesy of James Gunn’s new Dcu. David Corenswet fills the shoes of the most famous superhero this time around, but it’s been public knowledge that Lex Luthor actor Nicholas Hoult originally tried out for the role of Superman. According to Variety, James Gunn recently appeared on Jake’s Takes and explained why he made the choice of Corenswet over Hoult for the last son of Krypton.
Gunn said,
A lot of time casting is finding the right person for the right role. Most people [auditioning for Superman] weren’t doing anything wrong, they just didn’t fit how I envisioned this Superman to be. Nicholas Hoult auditioned. He’s a great actor. Some might say he’s better than David in certain ways, but he just didn’t fit the role. That’s...

A little over a week from now, the Superman movie will debut in theaters, marking our first real look at the new DC Universe in action. With plenty of other DC projects in the works, the question remains: when will we next see the Man of Steel?
During an interview with Phase Hero, James Gunn was asked that very question. “A couple of years,” Gunn responded, before quickly adding, “Well, no, you might see him… you’ll see him before then.” Gunn asked if the interviewer meant “the character” or David Corenswet, saying, “Yeah, you’ll see the character before then.“
Fans have theorized that this means our next glimpse of Superman could arrive in one of DC’s upcoming animated shows, or perhaps as a faceless Superman cameo in another project. Maybe even just a brief glimpse of Superman flying across the sky. Place your bets!

Now that a Wonder Woman movie is in the early stages of development at DC Studios, it’s only a matter of time before a new actress is cast as the Amazonian warrior. One of the favourite contenders for the role among fans is Adria Arjona (Andor), and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn recently said she’d make a “great Wonder Woman.“
In an interview with Extra, Gunn was asked whether fans should read into any of his social media follows of popular actresses, and what that might mean for her chances of being the next Wonder Woman. “50%,” Gunn joked, before bringing up Adria Arjona as an example.
“I follow Adria on Instagram but everybody came out [and said], ‘He just followed her, that means she’s Wonder Woman,’” Gunn said. “She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way.“
Gunn continued, “She was in a movie that I made seven years ago.

Christopher Reeve was seemingly Superman to a generation, but in reality, Reeve was Superman for all time. The installments in the Superman films and shows following Reeve’s series have paid tribute to the actor in some fashion. His legacy would no doubt go on with the upcoming James Gunn film, Superman. Entertainment Weekly reports that Will Reeve, son of Christopher, had visited the set of the film and the new Man of Steel, David Corenswet, would recall meeting him.
Corenswet recalled,

He also got to meet my kid when she was only a few months old. She happened to be on set that day, too. I don’t think she’ll remember it,...

You might want to stay off the internet for the next two weeks to avoid spoilers for James Gunn’s Superman. DC Studios, and by extension, Gunn, are going hard in the paint to promote the upcoming superhero film, and some fans are beginning to get upset. On Tuesday afternoon, James Gunn shared a new look at Ultraman, an evil alternate-universe counterpart of Superman and the leader of the Crime Syndicate, to social media, effectively ruining the character’s reveal for some.
Interestingly, Gunn’s Ultraman looks unlike his comic book counterpart. The character is covered in beige-colored armor and wears goggles over his eyes. Ultraman looks more like a Star Wars villain than an evil version of Superman, but it’s just a singular image. It could be David Corenswet beneath the armor, his identity revealed to the Man of Steel later in the film. We’ll need to wait to find out.

Instead of people flocking to their keyboards to celebrate the hero speeding like a bullet through a snowy tundra, they viciously mocked the look on David Corenswet’s face as he performed a daring barrel roll that would make Starfox’s Peppy Hare beam with pride. In no time, countless memes of Corenswet with googly eyes began circulating online, tarnishing the launch of an otherwise exciting marketing campaign. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn says he cut the controversial scene from the film’s final cut, and he’s not looking back.
“The part of him flying, it was a photograph of his face and him flying.

I’ve previously noted that the future of DC rests heavily on the success of the upcoming Superman movie — but James Gunn doesn’t see it that way. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the director and DC Studios co-ceo was asked how it feels to have the weight of the entire franchise on his shoulders.
“Really, I just go, ‘That’s their business.’ Because that’s not the truth for me. My truth is this is the first movie out of DC Studios,” Gunn said. “Other people may say, ‘It’s gotta be a home run, nothing else.’ I’m like, ‘No, I’d be very happy with a double.” F*****g Iron Man wasn’t the be-all and end-all. It wasn’t Avatar. We are doing something that’s a piece of the puzzle. It’s not the puzzle itself. We have Peacemaker, we have Supergirl, and what...

It seems like the perfect bridge from Marvel to DC is now here as Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, who has had a long, good-natured history with the company (pre-Vol. 3 controversy notwithstanding), is now the co-head of DC Studios over at the parent company of Warner Bros. Gunn talked with Rolling Stone in preparation for the release of Superman and the writer/director says a crossover with the two rival brands is nowhere near impossible.
When the interviewer pointed out that a Superman/Spider-Man comic from the 70s is sitting near them on the table, they asked Gunn if something like that could happen ten years down the line. Gunn responds,
We’ve talked about it a billion times. That could easily happen, but simultaneous to that, I think it would be interesting. But I also think people are a little over it. I think people wanna...

Wonder Woman fans can rest easy, because DC Studios' head James Gunn has confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that a new "Wonder Woman" movie is being written right now. But fans shouldn't expect to see Gal Gadot back as Diana, because while this is the third live-action "Wonder Woman" film, it is almost certainly going to be a reboot, not a sequel to "Wonder Woman 1984."
The previous silver screen Wonder Woman movies were part of the now-dead DC Extended Universe. We're about a month out from seeing if Gunn's DC Universe Take Two can soar with "Superman." So far, of the DC Trinity, we only have David Corenswet cast as Superman. But Gunn does have plans for the other two.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, James Gunn confirmed that Superman will include a post-credits scene—now a staple of comic book movies. However, he noted that he’s learned from past missteps while at Marvel Studios.
“I have a philosophy about post-credit scenes,” Gunns said. “It’s somewhat related to my own mistakes in my time with Marvel.” The director explained that while these scenes can be exciting in the moment, they sometimes introduce storylines or characters that end up being tricky to follow through on in future films.
“I did not like what I did in Guardians 2 where we set up Adam Warlock and we set up the Guardians of the Galaxy and we set up all this s— that I didn’t necessarily plan on,” Gunn said. “Well, I guess I kind of planned on fulfilling that [Adam Warlock] promise, but you want to be careful about that. Some blockbusters go right down to the wire, with the filmmakers tinkering away until the last minute, but Superman won’t be one of those. Director James Gunn took to social media to announce that Superman is 100% done and ready for its premiere next month.

Big franchise releases are just around the corner for the summer movie season and two anticipated films for fans are the reboot to the most famous superhero of all-time and the sequel to one of the most beloved comedies ever made. Superman has been confirmed by James Gunn himself to have a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes and debunked the rumor that Warner Bros. interfered with his cut. According to Gunn, referring to the rumor, “Zero truth to that. And they couldn’t even if that’s something that they wanted to. It’s a DC Studios film.”
The MPA just released their new ratings bulletin and one thing they are confirming that Gunn doesn’t have to is the rating according to the content in the new DC Universe debut. It can easily be predicted, but Superman has been Rated PG-13 “for violence, action and language.”

Superman‘s runtime became a topic of conversation when an erroneous previous report was announced and a source claimed that the James Gunn film was to be 122 minutes. Gunn would later come out and say that the report was false, explaining, “That’s not correct. It’s almost totally locked – meaning we’re just finishing a couple VFX shots over the weekend – but that’s not the running time.” Straight from Gunn’s mouth, Superman‘s runtime will not be 2 hours and 2 minutes, but he has now confirmed the film’s runtime, according to Deadline.

Update: One day after sharing a gallery of new character posters for Superman, the film’s director, James Gunn, is back with another round of promotional materials focusing on who we’ll meet in the upcoming superhero spectacle. The latest trailer for this year’s highly-anticipated SupermanSuperman reboot teased more of James Gunn’s action-packed comic book movie, as well as offering a hint of how the filmmaker will bring the Big Blue Boy Scout back to the big screen. While we were treated to a whole host of exciting new footage from the Dcu outing, one moment was shown again...but with a difference.
The first Superman trailer teased a scene in which a mob bombards the Man of Steel with angry protests, with one particularly disgruntled member of the public hurling a can at the superhero’s head. When we first saw this scene, Superman blinks as the tin can hits his head, which left many confused as he can, of course, brush off bullets without a second thought. Now, in the latest trailer, the blink has been removed, with Superman’s stoic expression remaining unchanged...

“31 Candles,” a romantic comedy from “Exmas” director Jonah Feingold, has been acquired by Level 33 Entertainment.
The film will hit theaters in North America later this year. Level 33 will also represent “31 Candles” for international sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.
“31 Candles” follows a 30-year-old New Yorker named Leo Kadner (Feingold), who spontaneously plans his long-overdue Bar Mitzvah after running into his former summer camp crush, Eva Shapiro (newcomer Sarah Coffey). Jackie Sandler, Dale Moss (“The Bachelorette”), comedian Jared Freid, Catherine Cohen (“Only Murders In The Building”), Lori Tan Chinn (“A Man on the Inside”), Caroline Aaron (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Larry Owens (“Abbott Elementary”) round out the cast.
“This is all a Bar Mitzvah boy could ever want — a chance to share a personal, funny, Jewish love story with the world,” Feingold said. “I hope audiences support our completely independent film.”
Feingold also wrote and directed “31 Candles,” which is his fifth feature film.
