I've been watching George Lopez show reruns and loved them. When I heard that he had a new show I thought great. Loved George. The plot sounded good. I've watched the first two episodes and I don't care for it. I love his daughter and the actor who plays her husband. Those are the only two likable characters. I don't like George and he was the reason I watched. The George that is portrayed is more like the George Lopez the tabloids used to talk about. Alcoholism, etc .Which is sad. They have included an annoying laughter track probably because the show isn't funny. Sadly to say I really don't see myself watching anymore episodes.
I grew up with GL as a half Mexican kid growing up as a military brat. He was one of many comedians that gave me a harsher understanding of Mexicans. Honestly, comedy shows with laugh tracks just aren't IT anymore even with laughter recording or live show audience laughter. I also vibe with the idea that Tiktok is involved with it to make it modern.
I think people also dont understand that Mayan, George's daughter is also one of the creator's of this show as well. It's not bad for a first time creator. I don't know if it will make it past season 1 or 2 in this day and age but I personally am enjoying it. It won't be everyone's cup of tea.
I'd say give it a shot, if you don't like it, move on.

I really like the show and George Lopez but after a few episodes the same stupid annoying music plays at the beginning and at every break and it makes me want to gouge out my ears! How is no one complaining about this??? If I want to watch I have to mute it at the first note every time. It drives me crazy. Otherwise, I think George is funny and I love his crazy hair. The kid is usually pretty funny and cute.
It's not the pinnacle of television excellence but it's amusing and fun. By the way, why do these reviews have character minimums!!?? Also obnoxious. Apujwbnfgpiwurfbpiubpiwubfweiujbefwiub.

It's really a remake of one of Lopez's older shows, but modernized in a way that doesn't feel like it was dumbed down and/or condescending. It's not gonna be anyone's favorite show, but it's worth watching for a good laugh here and there.
The main things I think they do really well with are references to his old shows, and the fact that George really let's the other cast members shine. It's definitely still a George Lopez show, but the side characters are fleshed out pretty well and tend to be the real highlights.
Bonus points for any show that has Rita Moreno guest star in am episode, that woman looks INCREDIBLE.(the last bit was admittedly just to hit the minimim character requirement)

The canned laughter happens even when nothing funny happens, which is most of the show. I might watch another few episodes if it were not for the laugh track. When will the networks realize we don't need or want canned laughter. Film in front of a studio audience or just leave the laughter for us at home.
Additionally I found the characters annoying and the TikTok scene were annoying. I think they must have decided to add the laugh track because they knew the show itself was not funny. Watching a drunk father try to get back into a relationship with his daughter is not funny. But the show is also not good as a drama. Just all around disappointing. The actors could do better than this.
