Actor Tom Holland is best known for his performance as Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the MCU. While the role gained Holland unprecedented fame and turned him into a household name, the actor has also appeared in several different films, expanding his acting scope. However, one role proved too physically challenging for the actor.

During an interview, Holland discussed the challenges of maintaining his physique and staying healthy, especially since different roles have different demands. In the process, the actor admitted that the hardest diet he had to follow wasn’t for the role of Spider-Man. Instead, a thriller movie’s brutal prep pushed Holland to the limit, and here is what he had to say.

While many felt Oppenheimer was filled with A-listers from right to left, Christopher Nolan is taking it a notch up with The Odyssey, which comprises some of the most notable stars of this generation. As of now, the cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, Elliot Page, Jon Bernthal, and Mia Goth.

Tom Holland hasn't had a huge amount of luck outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spider-Man: No Way Home broke box office records in 2021, but movies like Cherry, Uncharted, and Holland's first TV series, The Crowded Room, drew mixed reviews.
How better to bounce back from those than by collaborating with the filmmaker behind The Dark Knight Trilogy, Christopher Nolan? That's what Holland is looking to do with The Odyssey, the filmmaker's next epic and a movie he's expected to lead alongside Matt Damon.
New photos from the movie's set in Greece have been revealed (via SFFGazette.com) and they offer a first look at Holland's mystery character. We still don't know who he'll play, though the most compelling theory is Telemachus, the son of Odysseus.
In the original story, he must prove himself worthy of becoming King - Ithaca's ruler must be approved by a council - and he later helps his father,...

Tom Holland's look for The Odyssey is unveiled in new photos from the set of Christopher Nolan's epic. Serving as his follow-up to the acclaimed Oppenheimer in 2023, Nolan's take on Homer's epic story chronicles the story of Matt Damon's Odysseus as he embarks on a long and arduous journey home following the Trojan War. The Odyssey's cast, like Oppenheimer's, features an array of impressive talent, including Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal, among others. It hasn't yet been confirmed who Holland is playing in the film.
Now, thanks to new images from @UnBoxPHD on X, formerly Twitter, Holland's The Odyssey's look has been revealed. One image shows Holland in a brown cloak standing just in front of Nolan on a large wooden ship, with the latter sporting a red life jacket. Crew members are visible behind the pair, attending to the ship's rigging.

Emma Laird has gotten to work with some top-shelf talent of late. Last year, she was part of the cast of The Brutalist, featuring Best Actor winner Adrien Brody, and returned to Mayor of Kingstown, led by Jeremy Renner. Before that, in 2023, her career united her with Kenneth Branagh, Michelle Yeoh, Tom Holland, and Amanda Seyfried between A Haunting in Venice and The Crowded Room. Her luck in the actor lottery has yet to run out too, as she's due to join a star-studded cast in Cary Joji Fukunaga's Blood in Snow, featuring her upcoming 28 Years Later co-star Aaron Taylor-Johnson at the top of the call sheet. With all the talent involved, the actress has high hopes that the film won't just be a success, but a gratifying experience for her thanks to the team's wonderful personalities.

In the dim corridors of fractured recollection, The Crowded Room arises as a meditative journey into the workings of a troubled consciousness. Set against the evocative backdrop of 1970s New York—with its neon glows, rain-slicked streets, and urban decay—the narrative unfurls through the prism of a singular, unsettling incident. A shooting near a renowned landmark sets the stage for an introspection into human fragility, where the city itself seems to mirror the protagonist’s inner disarray.
Drawing inspiration from real-life accounts of human fragmentation, the series constructs an atmosphere thick with unease and reflection. Its origins, rooted in a factual narrative of psychological dissonance, lend the unfolding drama an air of somber authenticity that echoes in every shadowed frame.
Crafted by celebrated storytellers and supported by visionary production, the project marks its presence on a respected streaming platform with a commitment to detailed artistic portrayal and atmospheric storytelling.

Marvel Exec Reveals What's Holding Back Tom Holland's Spider-Man From Appearing in MCU Disney+ Shows
Fans calling for Tom Holland's Spider-Man to feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's TV shows get a definitive reason regarding his absence on the small screen. Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum shares why Peter Parker won't appear in any Disney+ series, before his return in Spider-Man 4.
Speaking with Brandon Davis on the Phase Hero podcast about Daredevil: Born Again, Winderbaum was asked why Holland's wall-crawling hero hasn't featured on any Disney+ shows throughout his MCU run. According to the Marvel producer, a rights issue involving Sony has prevented potential appearances. “[Sony has] the long-form television rights, we can do 30-minute animation,” he said.

Amanda Seyfried is back in a leading television role following “The Crowded Room” and her Emmy award-winning turn in “The Dropout.”
Based on the New York Times bestseller by Liz Moore published in 2020, the limited series “Long Bright River” follows Mickey (Seyfried), a police officer patrolling an area of Philadelphia that was particularly hit by the opioid crisis. After three girls are found dead, Mickey is forced to grapple with her past as she searches for answers.
The tense trailer shows Mickey’s journey as she is questioned for her interest in the case and her personal connection. “You seem to take it personally and you won’t tell me why,” Lafferty (Dash Mihok) asks her in a store.

Looks like Tom Holland isn’t hanging up the Spidey suit anytime soon. Just when fans thought Spider-Man 4 might be his swan song, a new report has dropped a bombshell: he’s got another trilogy lined up. That’s right, six more years (at least) of web-slinging, villain-punching, and awkward Peter Parker charm.

If that wasn’t on the table, no way was he swinging back into the suit. Tom Holland’s been the face of Peter Parker since Captain America: Civil War (2016), and let’s be honest, he crushed it.

What do you do when you’ve been to the vast reaches of space, reversed the temporal flow, ventured into the dreamscape – and, most importantly, swept the Oscars? With a three-hour, doom-laden, politically-driven historical drama, no less? In the wake of Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan could do basically anything. His choice: go full Homer with an adaptation of epic Greek poem The Odyssey. It should add a new quiver to the legendary director’s bow – his first swords-and-sandals epic, possibly his first fantastical film, and one that brings him a new leading man.
With pre-production rapidly ramping up on Nolan’s next movie, here’s what we know so far:
Tom Holland is said to be the lead
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Tom Holland on our screens – following Uncharted and Apple TV drama The Crowded Room, he’s been treading the boards on the West End in Romeo & Juliet.

Peacock has announced a premiere date for its new upcoming suspense thriller series starring Amanda Seyfried, and it’s sooner than you think. Seyfried will lead the adaptation of author Liz Moore’s best-selling novel Long Bright River.
The series premieres Monday, March 13, 2025 on Peacock. The show will feature 8 episodes and—praise the gods of television—they will all be released in one fell swoop. Lucky us.
In a nutshell, the novel tells a powerful story about two sisters and the destruction of addiction. Long Bright River builds on this and is centered around Philadelphia police officer Mickey Fitzpatrick (Seyfried), who patrols an area hit particularly hard by the tragic opioid crisis. When a series of murders start happening in her neighborhood, Mickey realizes the case might be connected to her own personal history, per the synopsis.

Tom Holland has cemented his status as a major movie star simply by virtue of becoming this generation's Spider-Man. No matter what he does, he will remain immortalized in the annals of superhero movie history. But the actor surely has ambitions outside of playing the web-slinger, and his attempts to branch out speak to the extent of that ambition.
Holland is in the midst of taking a well-earned break from acting after having failed to cause much of a stir with his non-Marvel projects. Aside from the anticlimactic "Uncharted" video game adaptation, he starred in another disappointing adaptation in the form of Dough Liman's grim take on the "Chaos Walking" book trilogy from author Patrick Ness. Holland also tried his best to save the bloated mess of a film that was the Russo brothers' "Cherry," before delivering yet another underwhelming project with Apple TV+'s "The Crowded Room." How Does Tom Holland Feel About Hollywood? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Tom Holland made a startling admission about his place in Hollywood during a candid chat on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast. Holland alluded, “I really do not like Hollywood, it is not for me.” The actor revealed that as glam as it may seem, the business actually “scares” him.

But that said, I am always looking for ways to kind of remove myself from it to kind of just live as normal a life as possible.”

Crying onscreen isn’t an easy feat, just ask Tom Holland. While Holland has cemented himself as one of the leading stars in modern Hollywood, the actor confessed to struggling when it came to shedding tears in front of the camera. But thanks to his fellow Marvel star Benedict Cumberbatch’s advice, who is notable for pulling off dramatic moments, the No Way Home star finally excelled in that department.

Tom Holland was confirmed for a role in Christopher Nolan’s next collaboration with Universal Pictures in October. As the lead, it is assumed Holland would take on the role of Odysseus, who fans believe is a much older character for the actor. Fans initially guessed that Holland would likely play Telemachus, the son of Odysseus. They expected the role of Odysseus to go to Matt Damon, who is collaborating with Nolan for the third time.

With the likes of Spider-Man 4, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, and (presumably) a couple of indie flicks by name of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars looming on his horizon, Tom Holland could be forgiven for taking a bit of a breather before committing himself to any more projects just now. But having just taken a year out from acting after the release of 2023's The Crowded Room, there's no sign of Holland disappearing again any time soon. Per Deadline's reporting, the British actor has just signed on to star in and produce legal thriller The Partner, an adaptation of John Grisham's eponymous 1997 bestseller.
Boasting a script from The Imitation Game scribe Graham Moore, The Partner will see Holland explore another morally fraught character cut more from the Cherry or The Devil All The Time cloth than the Spidey suit. The original book, released during a run in...

In addition to Spider-Man 4, Holland is set to star in Christopher Nolan's big-screen adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey, and he is expected to reprise his Spidey role in the upcoming Avengers films. Holland is set to star in an upcoming adaptation of one of legendary author John Grisham's best novels.
Deadline reports that Holland has signed on for the 1997 novel The Partner, a legal thriller from the longtime writer and former Mississippi State Representative. Tom Holland has had a bit of a rough time outside of his Marvel exploits. In 2022 Holland announced that he'd be taking a well-earned break which will likely do the actor some good considering his career choices of late. Alongside his role as the wall-crawler Spider-Man, the British actor led a disappointing adaptation of the "Uncharted" video game and the bloated mess of a film that was the Russo brothers' "Cherry." Then there was Doug Liman's "Chaos Walking" that saw Holland trapped in a decidedly grim and shockingly late attempt to cash in on the YA dystopian craze. Even Apple TV, which has been churning out a stream of great streaming series in recent years, couldn't help Holland, who's "The Crowded Room" was met with negative reviews.
But when you're this generation's Spider-Man it will take a lot more than a few duds to end your career. Holland is...

Similar to Spider-Man and his love interests, their real-life counterparts haven’t had a smooth sailing shot at dating. While most Spidey couples’ chemistry translated into the real world (cough cough Shameik Moore), they didn’t exactly have a fairytale ending, which involves Tobey Maguire-Kirsten Dunst, and Andrew Garfield-Emma Stone.

Tom Holland will be best known to most audiences for his role as Spider-Man in the MCU, and understandably so. The actor first played the iconic superhero in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, returning in two Avengers films and leading three solo movies, culminating with Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. Now, he's set to play the character once more in the announced Spider-Man 4, but he'll likely also be showing up in movies like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Holland, however, also has a number of titles under his belt outside of the MCU. His first major movie was actually The Impossible in 2012, and he has since appeared in movies like In the Heart of the Sea (2015), The Devil All the Time (2020), Cherry (2021), and Uncharted (2022). Holland made a major career move in 2023, starring in his first ever TV show, a limited series for Apple TV+.

Tom Holland says working on “The Crowded Room” set wasn’t a very peaceful place, recalling how he experienced a lot of animosity and arguing.
“There was quite a lot of animosity on that set,” Holland shared in an interview with Men’s Health. “It was not a very harmonious place, and there was a lot of arguing and butting heads.”
The actor, who executive produced and starred in Apple TV+’s psychological thriller miniseries, wouldn’t reveal any specifics about the disagreements or negative instances, but mentioned that the conversations weren’t related at all to the show or its production.
However, he noted that the experience made the actor — who has taken up a commitment to sobriety — briefly question having a drink.
“I thought, ‘If I start drinking again now, with all this going on, it’s gonna get worse, right?’” Holland said, who said he’s remained steadfast in his journey.

One of the most successful soap opera series of all time, Shameless is an incredibly gritty portrayal of a dysfunctional Gallagher family navigating life on Chicago’s South side. Containing an ensemble cast, the series propelled several actors to success, yet it was Emmy Rossum who stood out the most as Fiona Gallagher. The eldest daughter of the Gallagher family, she was the heart and soul of the show.

Tom Holland has gone from child actor to one of the world's biggest stars. While he's had a few misses lately - Uncharted and The Crowded Room, for example - we expect him to bounce back with roles in Spider-Man 4, Avengers: Doomsday, and The Odyssey.
Previous comments from the actor have suggested he'll give up the role of Peter Parker after this next trilogy, likely passing the Spider-Man mantle to whoever plays the live-action Miles Morales.
However, it sounds like Holland, who is 28, plans to end his acting career completely in the not-too-distant future. "When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore," he recently told Men's Health. "Golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth."

Tom Holland is one of the most popular young actors in Hollywood. However, that doesn't always translate to harmony on the set of every project.
Speaking to Men's Health, Holland revealed that his time working on the Apple TV+ series, The Crowded Room was marred by bad blood. "There was quite a lot of animosity on that set," he recalled. "It was not a very harmonious place, and there was a lot of arguing and butting heads." According to the actor, the disagreements were not about creative issues and often put his sobriety to the test. Tom Holland is known for starring in some of the biggest movie franchises in the world, but he has also dabbled in the TV realm. Many critics failed to respond positively to The Crowded Room, but the Apple TV+ thriller was Holland's first leading role on television. The Crowded Room followed Danny Sullivan (Holland), a young man with Dissociative Identity Disorder (Did) who is arrested after being involved in a shooting in New York City in 1979. Due to the stress of making the series, Holland took a year-long acting break after finishing The Crowded Room. It was previously understood that the pressure of playing the complex character played a part in the decision, but Holland has also now revealed that the set was not "a very harmonious place."
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Holland revealed that the set of The Crowded Room was subject to frequent arguments and unrest.

Despite the extraordinary fame that Marvel has brought him, Tom Holland seems to be the most well-adjusted 28-year-old Hollywood star compared to others of his generation. The British icon first tasted fame when he was only 11 via Billy Elliot: The Musical. Imagine you're going to the grocery store to pick up a few things – and perhaps sneer at the price of organic eggs – when all of a sudden a fight breaks out, and you find yourself in the middle of the ruckus, pulling apart the two brawlers only to have one of them recognize you as a global superstar. That's exactly what happened to Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland, who says his fame helped defuse the situation.
Holland is, of course, the MCU star who's appeared in three Spider-Man films, a couple of Avengers movies, and one Captain America flick. In a new interview with Men's Health, the 28-year-old English actor relayed the story of the fight that took place at Whole Foods in Los Angeles recently, saying he jumped in to help break it up, but that it wasn't until one of the combatants recognized him that things began to calm down.

Tom Holland said in a new cover story for Men’s Health that he managed to break up a fight in a Los Angeles supermarket because he’s Spider-Man, of course. Holland has played the web-slinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” and he’s been at the center of three standalone “Spider-Man” movies.

Stephen King shares his praise for a new Apple TV+ thriller, matching the audience's sentiment. Apple TV+ has been on a run of consistently releasing new original shows over the past few years, with the genre frequently falling into the thriller category. Oftentimes, those thrillers will have a sci-bent, with Silo, Dark Matter, and Severance. But the preference for tense stories also extends beyond the science fiction realm.
Lady in the Lake, led by Natalie Portman, was a murder mystery presented as a thriller. The same is true for The Crowded Room, starring Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried, which was a crime drama that often veered into the direction of a paranoid and shaky narrative with an unreliable protagonist at the center. One of the newest thrillers from the streamer continues the trend, including another big actor, though responses have been split.

It's starting to feel like there aren't any other stars left to cast in Christopher Nolan's next film. The director's first project after his Academy Award-winning film, Oppenheimer, may still be mysterious in so many ways, but its cast is decidedly not, having added Charlize Theron to a laundry list of big-name stars.
The plot is completely unknown at this point, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with some outlets reporting that any genre and/or storyline rumors are unfounded, but with new cast member announcements being rolled out every few days, it feels like only a matter of time before we learn more.
First, we learned about the casting of Matt Damon. Then we heard about Tom Holland joining the cast. After that, Holland's girlfriend Zendaya, and Anne Hathaway joined the fold. And in the last few days we heard about Lupita Nyong'o and Robert Pattinson coming on board the film,...

There’s a new frontrunner in Gold Derby’s Oscar odds for Best Director: Brady Corbet for “The Brutalist.”
The American filmmaker has broken his tie with Sean Baker (“Anora”) to claim the No. 1 position on our chart for the upcoming 2025 Oscars. Note that it’s still quite early in this awards season, and things could keep changing as our experts, editors, and users continue to update their predictions.
The A24 fictional drama centers around Adrien Brody‘s character László Tóth, a Hungarian-Jewish architect and Holocaust survivor who emigrates to the United States in the 1940s in the hopes of achieving the American Dream. While László is waiting for his wife (Felicity Jones) to join him, he starts working with his cousin (Alessandro Nivola) at a furniture store, and he eventually comes into contact with a wealthy industrialist (Guy Pearce).
This would be Corbet’s first career Oscar nomination, after...
