Jon Jashni is a media investor and content producer who operates through his company Raintree Ventures. Prior to founding Raintree, Jashni was President and Chief Creative Officer of Legendary Entertainment where, as an aspect of his duties, he oversaw the development and production of content such as Kong: Skull Island (2017), Warcraft : Le Commencement (2016), Godzilla (2014), La Grande Muraille (2016), Crimson Peak (2015), the Jackie Robinson biopic '42 (2013)', Perdus dans l'espace (2018) and Pacific Rim (2013) .
He co-founded the company in January 2006 and was integrally involved over the following ten years in evolving the company from a film-financing entity into a diversified, multi-platform media company. Prior to joining Legendary, Jashni was President of Hyde Park Entertainment, a production and financing company with output deals at 20th Century Fox, Disney and MGM. While there, he oversaw the production of Shopgirl (2005), Dreamer: Inspiré d'une histoire vraie (2005), Tolérance zéro (2004) and Prémonitions (2007).
Before joining Hyde Park, Jashni produced the romantic comedy hit Fashion victime (2002) for Disney/Touchstone. He also co-produced two films that received a total of three Academy Award® nominations: the critically acclaimed drama Hurricane Carter (1999), which garnered a "Best Actor" nomination for Denzel Washington, and Anna et le roi (1999), which starred Jodie Foster, and earned two Oscar nominations. He also, while a senior production executive at 20th Century Fox, oversaw the development and production of the fairy-tale success À tout jamais: Une histoire de Cendrillon (1998).
Jashni was earlier partnered with media power broker Irving Azoff at the Warner Bros. -based Giant Pictures. Together they produced Hurricane Carter (1999), Jack Frost (1998) and The Inkwell (1994). Jashni joined Azoff after serving as a production executive at Columbia Pictures, where he was involved with such films as Un jour sans fin (1993) and Dracula (1992). Jashni began his career at Daniel Melnick's The IndieProd Company, where he was involved in the production of Roxanne (1987), Air America (1990), Aux sources du Nil (1990), and Punchline (Le mot de la fin) (1988).
Jashni is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Producers Guild of America in addition to being a Trustee Emeritus of the American Film Institute. He holds a BS from the University of Southern California and an MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Management.
