The start of the 4th season is horrible. The cop having her intestines pulled out by madams hit man and she's still talking but not going into shock. Tyler Perry is a mess. The series is unbelievable and it doesn't make any sense. I like madam and the cookie man. The dancer with the long braids is handsome and funny and so is baby face.
I really tried with this show. The repeating if the same lines over and over, making the characters seem stupid is sooo hard to watch. Unfortunately this is the norm in Tyler Perry movies. Blue's character is not believable at all. The only characters and acting that regularly carry the show are the main dancers and their choreography on stage is good. I can't understand why the writer's of Tyler Perry's shows get the same feedback about the acting, the repeated lines ( like they are unaware of what normal conversations sound like) and bad acting hasn't encouraged them to improve their craft over the years... But all of these shows are the same. I just can't watch without fast forwarding to the dancers... The rest of this show is painful 😖😣
The show was watchable the first 4 episodes of season 1. However, as soon as Tyler Perry got involved the story line, acting and plot became over the top and unrealistic. The acting is bad but this woman Madam character is ridiculous. She takes on white supremist, police, gangs, cartels politicians, and judges all from the comforts from her lowly little strip club and gets away with it. Really? All of the men in this show are emasculated ie her house servant. He talks like he's in a trance, just ridiculous. The only reason it gets above 5 stars is because of the eye candy that appeals to women.
It was okay. I thought it would be better. Not terrible but bot great. Eva was better than expected but her lines at times are stiff but that's the writing. Says the same lines repeatedly. Guy who plays her nephew is fine as hell but acting can use some flow to it..felt like the same character from Sisters. The dancers were better actors. It just felt stiff. That being said I watched all episodes in one sitting and would tune in to season 2. Guy pleasure type show. The scenery is beautiful, sets amazing, wardrobe flawless, makeup gorgeous!.
PROS:
CONS:
- It was entertaining enough to get me through a patch of boredom.
- Eva Marcille was aesthetically perfect for the lead character.
- The most well executed part of the series are the scenes announcing the dancers and Christian Keyes performance in his role.
CONS:
- Poor studio lighting and shaky camera frames. It makes the production look very low budget from a credible producer with the largest filming studio in the country. It's filmed like a daytime soap opera from the 90s.
- The scene changes and camera angles are very basic and don't have any creativity put into the editing.
- The delivery from the actors came across as practice or a rehearsal for the final taping as if they still had the script in their hands, reading aloud, rehearsing the scenes. Christian Keyes, quit naturally, was the strongest actor.
- Very weak dialogue with an excessive amount of unnecessary profanity and racial slurs. It's also very monotone and doesn't give a balanced ranges of emotions. It's very aggressive and dense in every episode.
- I don't mind the massive amount sexual expression in the plot but theirs absolutely no creativity or originality put into the portrayal.
- It comes across more as improv and as libs than it does a written series.
- The story isn't cohesive nor does it have an organic flow and it's very predictable.
- The adult rated scenes don't have any passion and don't really give you that sense of arousal that they should. It almost comes across of a parody of what a adult rated scene is suppose to look like.
- Unnecessary background music dilutes a lot of the (acting) performances in certain scenes and it's excessively used in every single scene.
- There's absolutely no character development. Just an ongoing plot drawn out plot with no foundation.
- It's unbelievably dramatic.
- The work that went into making this series relatable to a designated demographic could went into creating something next level and evolutionizing for that designated demographic.
