The Amityville Curse seemed to bear a couple of its own curses. It’s an Amityville knockoff and after Amityville Cult, Amityville Thanksgiving, Amityville in the Hood, and so many more, it’s pretty much a guarantee of mediocrity. Secondly, it’s a Tubi Original, which usually carries a very similar guarantee.
But there were a couple of reasons to be hopeful as well. Director Éric Tessier may not be well known outside of Quebec but his adaptions of two of Patrick Senécal’s novels, 5150 Elm’s Way and more importantly, Sur le Seuil aka Evil Words, are both excellent. Dennis Heaton wrote the film, based on the novel by the late Hans Holzer. Heaton you may recall wrote the Billy Connolly zom-com Fido.

Just where do vampires go to learn how to deal with humans on a day-to-day basis? Can't exactly head down to the nearest etiquette class or check out a local finishing school. Vamps have to be a bit more creative. Thankfully they have Valemont... a place that teaches the undead how to deal with the not yet undead.
On Halloween 2011 Cambio.com is going to feature Valemont in feature-length format, meaning there will be plenty of fangs, blood and brooding for everyone in this story about the education of vampires. Since music videos basically don't exist anymore, MTV needs to find some programs to keep them afloat until "Beavis and Butt-Head" begin to dominate again. "Teen Wolf" is the first of those shows. Now MTV is hoping Valemont scores a big film victory for them.

There is a congregation of believers that devote their lives to the pursuit of grotesque beasts. You might call these monsters Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti, the Jersey Devil, or Lockjaw, but either way these creatures are elusive and terrifying. Creature hunters bring us blurry pictures and provide us with those monster reality shows on SyFy, but what happens when they really find one?
When six friends set out on a road trip through the Louisiana backcountry, driver Oscar (Dillon Casey Valemont, The Vampire Diaries) decides to take a detour and find “The house Grimley built out of blood”. While Oscar and his sister Karen (Lauren Schneider Wrestling) are dead set on exploring the story of Lockjaw and his grisly home, the rest of their passengers aren’t so sure; maybe they should have just stuck to the map…

We're less than two weeks away from the 2011 San Diego Comic Con, and convention organizers have finally released the schedule for the first day of programing. You can find the full schedule on comic-con.org [1], or after the jump I've listed the film and television highlights, which includes the Masters of the Web panel which I've been invited to be a panelist on (In full disclosure, I've been asked to be on this panel for a few years now, but I've only just recently gotten over my fear of speaking in front of large audiences). It should be a fun panel, and I hear they will be giving away some really cool prizes as well. If past years are any indication, Comic-Con will begin releasing its official 2011 panel schedule later today (Wednesday) with the schedule for Preview Night, Wednesday, July 20. If that happens then we can expect them to follow suit for the rest of the days, so that Thursday will see the release of the Thursday of Con schedule, etc., through Sunday.
Once the official schedules are posted these “TV and Movie Panels and Screenings Updates” will be scaled back to just the date, time, title, and location, since the rest of the information and So Much More (including comics panels, autograph signings, etc.) will be available on the Comic-Con schedule link we’ll provide. Consider this, then, the last of the extremely long posts, and hopefully we’ll be getting that official schedule soon.

The second update but absolutely not the last. We have yet to hear from the major networks, Syfy, TNT or USA about their panels. More to the point, we have yet to hear from Comic-Con, at least as to the official schedule.
As you may know, they resold the returned 4-day passes on Friday, and those sold out within a couple of hours. It likely only took that long because only a certain number of people could be purchasing at one time. Returned one day tickets will go on sale shortly; if you’re interested in attempting to be amongst the lucky few who will achieve tickets, you must be following Comic-Con on Twitter for the latest updates
Information added to this update includes Locke & Key, Dexter, Shameless, Homeland, Archer, Wilfred, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Sons of Anarchy, Shark Night 3D, Haywire, The Raven, Immortals, Thanks to THR...

Woo Hoo! Comic-Con 2011 info is really starting to flow! As a veteran attendee, one of the most exciting things I’ve seen are the blurbs that come out on the official schedule, being released early by studios! First out of the gate for that appears to be from Warner Bros. Television Group. The panel blurbs, along with the dates, times, and room numbers, have been released in a statement. For this post we scrapped the previous format in favor of Comic-Con’s format whenever that information is available. Here we go!

Holy hell yes! Here's a sneak peak at a web series coming our way this summer called Chopper and it stars Tyler Mane as the headless biker. We've seen this story told over and over again about the Headless Horseman but it hasn't been told this way with a headless biker. In an industry known for its limited, cookie cutter thinking when it comes to women, beauty and weight, Hollywood can be a difficult place for even many beautiful, tiny waisted women to stand out. Fortunately, that hasn’t been a problem for Nikki Blonsky who cares not at all for Hollywood’s expectations that an actress should be a size zero.
After having made a splash as the exuberant, plus sized Tracy Turnblad in the remake of John Water’s classic Hairspray in 2007, Blonsky found memorable parts on television including as Maggie Baker in the Lifetime movie Queen Sized, as Teri on an episode of ABC’s Ugly Betty, as well as a role on MTV’s mini series Valemont.
But with her role on ABC Family’s new dramedy Huge, Blonsky is set to take on her most significant challenge yet – carrying an entire series on her shoulders. Unlike...

The nominees for the 2010 Streamys were announced today. The Streamys celebrate online television programming and this year they have a fantastic line up of nominees. Last year was the Streamys debut year and the winners included high profile shows such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the exceptional Battlestar Galactica web series The Face of the Enemy.
This year there is even more competition with some really interesting content now being released on the web rather than through more traditional media routes. Two of my favourites from this year’s nominee list are the excellent Interview Project which is presented by davidlynch.com and the slightly flawed but thoroughly enjoyable Angel of Death, created by Ed Brubaker and starring Zoe Bell, which also received a DVD release last year.
The awards ceremony takes place on April 11th 2010 and the full list of nominees is listed below with handy links...

It's not exactly coincidence that today's launch of Sony's zombie comedy web seriesWoke Up Dead comes on the heels of the company's box-office-winning $25 million opening weekend for Zombieland. In fact it was pretty much by design. With its debut on Crackle today, the Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) led comedy is the latest example of how the studios are starting the work their digital properties into the synergistic business mix, capitalizing on buzz from one property to drive interest in another. The series is touted as the tentpole of Crackle's fall lineup, one that is slimmed down from previous seasons to feature just a handful of premium, more polished online series from Sony Pictures Television. It's the latest from online creative shop Electric Farm Entertainment, the guys behind web series like NBC's Gemini Division and more recently MTV's Valemont. Heder stars as a six-year USC grad turned office drone, Drex Greene,...

This is what awaits you if you visit the companion website for the upcoming MTV Networks’ web series, Valemont, which will premieres tomorrow for a 12-episode run on MTV before heading to an online-only release of the remaining 23 episodes. I had a chance to speak with co-creator Brent Friedman of Electric Farm about this unique transmedia experience that blends product placement, Arg elements, and web content into an exciting murder mystery plotline that may or may not have a supernatural twist. The multiplatform series stars a number of notable young actors like Nikki Blonsky, Kristen Hager, Georgina Reilly and Six Feet Under's Eric Balfour. For the specifics of how this project came together, we asked Friedman to fill us in. "Valemont originated about a year ago when Electric Farm Entertainment began discussions with MTV about producing a branded entertainment series," said Friedman. "I created the show with Christian Taylor,...

Last week at the Toronto International Film Festival, I sat down with a number of the main players of “Leslie, My Name is Evil” - Reginald Harkema’s pulpy and political black comedy about Charlie Manson devotee Leslie Van Houten. First up is a chat with Kristen Hager, who plays the infamous Leslie, and Gregory Smith, who plays juror Perry in the piece. Hit the jump to read about moving from small towns and innocent “Everwood” to sadistic murderers and religious folk, love of all things Canada, and the vampires and cops that are in their future.
Q: How did you both get involved with the film?
Hager: The old-fashioned way - I auditioned and got the role - that’s about it.
Smith: I did a movie a couple years ago, and the director of that movie and Reginald Harkema were friends, so he told him about me, and...

Sony's Crackle.com announced its fall lineup today and as expected, the Jon Heder lead zombie comedy Woke Up Dead is the headlining web series in the bunch. The online network is known for rolling out new 13-week seasons four times a year, and this new slate has just three new original series in it. The other two newcomers, Groundlings comedy Hardline: Inside the Idaho Sex Cult and Barry Sonnenfeld's The Esquire Digital Man join the weekly returning series Anytime with Bob Kushell, Penn Says and My Long Distance Relationship. The most touted is clearly Woke Up Dead from web vets Electric Farm Entertainment (Gemini Division, Afterworld, Valemont), which first popped up in development last summer. After finally lensing earlier this summer, the series calls itself a "re-imagining of the zombie mythology" with Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) plays a USC college student thrust into a world of zombie powers...
