Schools Spirits is making waves on Paramount+. A day after its Season 2 finale was released, the supernatural drama series managed to land in the streamer's Top 10 TV Shows list.

According to FlixPatrol, School Spirits is currently ranked No. 5 on Paramount+'s Top 10 TV Shows list for Mar. 7. However, the series is currently at No. 1 on the Top 10 Overall for Amazon Channels, a massive +8 jump from the previous day and perhaps a far more impressive feat. Created by Megan and Nate Trinrud, School Spirits first premiered on Paramount+ in March 2023, while the second season launched this past January. Despite the almost two-year gap between seasons, the supernatural show was seemingly worth the wait, given that it has managed to remain in Paramount+'s Top 10 ranking throughout the release of its second season.

The second season of the new Goosebumps TV series, Goosebumps: The Vanishing is set to make its premiere on January 10th on Disney+ and Hulu – and Stine described this as an “elevated” Goosebumps that’s more terrifying than the source material.

Premiering in October 2023, Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis said the first season was one of Dbt's "most-watched shows of last year," making a renewal an easy option. The second season will feature a new cast and storyline.

The streamer previously announced that Emmy-nominated actor David Schwimmer would star alongside Ana Ortiz, Sam McCarthy, Jayden Bartels, Elijah Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, and Francesca Noel.

On May 31, Disney shared a press release announcing additional cast members to play four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994. Their disappearance becomes crucial to the present-day characters.

Variety has learned that Sakina Jaffrey, Eloise Payet (“The End of the Party”), Kyra Tantao (“Zombies 3”), Arjun Athalye (“Are You Afraid of the Dark?”), Christopher Paul Richards (“The Kids Are Alright”), and Stony Blyden (“American Born Chinese”) have all joined the second season of the series based on the R.L. Stine books.

They will appear alongside previously announced cast members David Schwimmer, Ana Ortiz, Sam McCarthy, Jayden Bartels, Elijah Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, and Francesca Noel. It was previously announced that “Goosebumps” would be going the anthology series route in Season 2, meaning it will feature an entirely new cast and storyline than Season 1.

Athalye, Payet, Richards, and Tantao will star as Sameer, Hannah, Matty, and Nicole, described as “four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in, becoming a central secret to the present-day characters.” Blyden will play Trey, Frankie’s (La Salvia) boyfriend.

Filming has begun on Zombies 4 (working title) with Milo Manheim returning as Zed the zombie, Meg Donnelly back as cheerleader Addison, Kylee Russell returning as zombie Eliza, and Chandler Kinney reprising her role as Willa the werewolf. Joining the supernatural fun are Lisa Chappell (McLeod’s Daughters) as Eldress and Jonno Roberts (La Brea) as Commander Bright.

Per TVLine, Disney has greenlit Zombies 4 with plans to start filming as early as March 2024 in New Zealand. The new installment is confirmed to be bringing back Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim, who will reprise their respective franchise roles as the cheerleader Addison and her zombie boyfriend Zed. Also returning are Chandler Kinney as the werewolf Willa and Kylee Russell as the zombie Eliza. Newcomers to the cast include Freya Skey (Final Fantasy XVI) as Nova and Malachi Barton (Under Wraps) as Victor, characters described as "mysterious supernatural strangers whom Zed and Addison encounter during their summer travels."

Disney Branded Television has greenlit a fourth entry in the “Zombies” movie franchise.

The announcement was made at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim set to reprise their roles as Addison and Zed, with both stars also set to executive produce. Production will begin in March in New Zealand.

The official description of the fourth film states “The franchise’s fourth installment follows Zed and Addison as they embark on a road trip the summer after their first year of college. GLAAD has released the 11th installment of its Studio Responsibility Index, an annual study that tracks “the quantity, quality and diversity” of LGBTQ characters in films released in a calendar year by 10 Hollywood distributors.

The results found that of 350 titles released in 2022, 100 films, or 28.5 percent, featured an LGBTQ character, marking the highest number recorded in the time GLAAD has conducted the study. It should be noted, however, that in today’s peak content landscape, the number of films tracked has also increased, per GLAAD.

In those 100 films, there were 292 LGBTQ characters including 117, or 40 percent, characters of color. Of the 292, 163 were men, 119 women and 10 nonbinary. Seven of the women characters and six of the men were transgender. The showings marked a record number of nonbinary characters. Also a record: 12 of 350 films included a transgender character. Eleven LGBTQ characters were counted with a disability, also a high.

Paramount+ finally confirmed Tuesday afternoon that it had ordered School Spirits Season 2.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.

School Spirits Season 1 wrapped on the streaming service in April with several cliffhangers.

The series stars Peyton List as Maddie Nears, a teenager trying to solve her murder.

While the YA market has been saturated with series in recent years, the series excelled in every area.

It boasted a compelling mystery, plenty of drama, and lots of potential for future seasons.

"We saw how engaged the fans of the show were, and we're really excited about not only the creative direction of the show [in season one], but the promise of the creative direction we're aware of in the second season," Shauna Phelan, executive vp and co-head of Nickelodeon and Awesomeness live-action series and films, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Following Sunday’s announcement that the Disney+ sequel from last fall is now getting a sequel of its own, TheWrap has learned that film’s director Anne Fletcher and writer Jen D’Angelo will be returning to the witchy franchise.

The news of a new “Hocus Pocus” sequel, after last year’s surprisingly enjoyable follow-up to the 1993 Disney classic, came during a profile of Walt Disney Studios president Sean Bailey in The New York Times. Bailey confirmed that there was another film in development — although, at the time, not much else was known.

Paramount+ is trying to bring in younger viewers. 

The streaming service today announced its new young adult drama series, School Spirits, will premiere with two episodes on Thursday, March 9, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada.

The series will premiere the following day in Australia, and the U.K. Premiere dates for other Paramount+ international markets will be announced at a later date.

Following the premiere, new episodes of the eight-episode-long season will be available to stream weekly on Thursdays for subscribers in the U.S. and Canada and on Fridays for subscribers in Australia and the U.K.

During its presentation at the Television Critics Association’s 2023 winter press tour, Paramount+ debuted new teaser art for the third and final season of “Star Trek: Picard,” which premieres on Feb. 16. During the panel about the series however, the team behind the series didn’t seem so sure that this would be the end.

“Who knows?” executive producer Alex Kurtzman said when asked about the ending of the series, with star Patrick Stewart saying that if the show could “maintain the work quality” of the first three seasons, he would be open to reappearing. Netflix’s first week of streaming its original series Resident Evil, based on the video game franchise, finished fourth overall in the Nielsen streaming rankings, the measurement service said Thursday in reporting data for the week of July 11-17.

The series, which dropped on the service with all eight Season 1 episodes July 14, amassed 858 viewing minutes, putting it at No. 4 on the Top 10 Streaming Chart for that week. No. 1 remains Stranger Things (2.94 billion minutes), the only show or movie to top 1 billion minutes during the frame, the most recent reported by Nielsen.

Nielsen reports U.S. streaming numbers after a month’s delay for Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max and Apple TV+.

At No. 2 this week was the second week of Netflix’s animated movie The Sea Beast (920 million minutes), up a big 113 over its debut weekend, followed by Prime Video’s The Terminal List (887 million minutes) at No.

This summer, Disney+ released Zombies 3 after the first two films in the series proved successful for a new generation of Disney kids thanks to their bright colors, message of inclusiveness and fun songs.

This third installment offers all those elements and more. The music has a lot to live up to, and while some of the songs are as good as any from the first two Zombies movies, not all of them hit the mark. So which Zombies 3 songs are as catchy as “Flesh and Bone” from Zombies 2, and which songs fall flat?...

Zombies 3 was released on Disney+ on July 15, and viewers are welcomed back to Seabrook by familiar faces and extra-terrestrial beings who have just arrived. The quirky musical brings the same humor and heart as its predecessors.

This new movie is believed to be the final installment in the Zombies franchise. As a result, there is a feeling of finality in the conflict, the songs, and the dialogue. The dialogue, in particular, balances elements of humor and emotion well, making for a hilarious yet bittersweet story to end the trilogy.

The good news: Never Have I Ever‘s Devi and Paxton are no longer hiding their relationship behind closed doors in the first trailer for Season 3, which features plenty of makeout sessions and, of course, Paxton Hall-Yoshida’s impressive abs.

Now for the bad news: Just because she and Paxton are officially a couple doesn’t mean that Devi’s not questioning their romance. And with her classmates speculating if Paxton is just dating Devi because “it’s like a death-bed, last-wishes thing,” it’s difficult for the teen not to let her insecurities get the best of her.

The “Bridgerton” literary universe is expanding. Original series writer Julia Quinn and Shonda Rhimes, the executive producer of the romance series’ Netflix adaptation, are set to cowrite a new prequel novel set in the world of “Bridgerton.”

Currently untitled, the new book series is based on the universe of the TV series, and is an adaptation of the upcoming Netflix “Bridgerton” spinoff about a young Queen Charlotte. The book will tell the story of how Charlotte met and married King George, with a focus on how their love lead to a social shift that created the racially inclusive world seen in the television series.

Sometimes even the most rich and powerful of streaming services need a little break. Such is the case with Disney+’s list of new releases for July 2022.

As the stewards of Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and hundreds of other beloved franchises and characters, Disney is never exactly hurting for content. And that’s good for them as streaming service Disney+ won’t be bringing much new material to the table in July 2022.

The only major release of note this month is the finale for delightful Marvel series Ms. Marvel on July 13. The story of Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) discovering her powers has been a worthwhile little entry into the MCU canon thus far. Will the show opt for spectacle in its finale like many of its Marvel peers? I suppose we’ll find out on July 13.

President Joe Biden is set to address the nation following another senseless act of gun violence.

Earlier on Tuesday, at least 18 children and one teacher were killed when a gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. (The 18-year-old suspect was also killed.) Several others were shot during the incident, including two police officers, and are being treated at local hospitals.

Exclusive: A3 Artists Agency has signed rising talent Terry Hu.

After studying neuroscience at UCLA, Hu ended up deferring for a year to pursue acting. In that time, they submitted themselves to ABC’s nationwide digital talent search and ended up winning in November 2018. Hu then officially turned down school and began auditioning, landing a few short film roles including Americanized.

The Erica Eng-directed project, led by Hu, tells the story of a teen growing up in Oakland’s hip-hop movement who struggles to fit in. The story is based on Eng’s life. The short film has been racking up awards while on the film festival circuit.
