Crawlspace had an interesting concept and was nothing that seemed overdone. The biggest problem I did have with this film however was the acting in certain places. It was bad and made parts of the film become flat. Henry Thomas is back to acting. I don't think I've seen him since castle rock and it's good seeing him. I'd even say he was the best thing about this film. He plays a plumber that uses a houses Crawlspace, that is until he witness to men kill another one for cash. That happens to be where Thomas is. What follows is a fight for servival and it's pretty fun to watch after get. Overall not great but this film was still a decent enough watch and was entertaining.
This isn't bad but at times you feel it doesn't know if it wants to be a out and out thriller or a comedy. However, it turns out to be both and is very funny in places and the premise is good, if a little flawed (is there really only one way to get under the house?). The performances are fine, jennifer robertson and Henry Thomas especially and there is a twist I didn't see coming. It's not the greatest film you will ever see but is a perfectly acceptable time passer. The kind of movie you say "that was allright that was" at the end.
Although the whole idea and premise of the movie was workable and a good idea, the script writers totally screwed the movie over. There is far too many examples of people ignoring common sense, unrealistic police procedures, and a lot or bad acting mostly from the plumber. And it is really bad when a character talks to themselves out of context to extend the plot. The plot twist was ok, but watching this movie made me angry while watching the characters completely ignore common sense.
The film has a good concept, but an epically poorly presented story. Here are some examples, so the main "hero" of the story is under the house and has a cell phone, but he doesn't call for help wtf (he obviously has signal and batteries because he had a missed call from his wife). On the other hand, the villains who are upstairs in the house "like" cannot get to him under the house, the only thing that separates them from the hero of the story are the thin boards on the floor and that's all considering that after the shot in the floor a hole of light was immediately shown which it means that it is rather thin floor, but apparently it is hard to remember to remove wooden floor. Mostly the movie is overcrowded with such scenes and it simply kills the movie completely. I watched it to the end, but it's more of a parody than an action, not a comic parody, ugh, it's hard to explain.
If you can get through the boring first half hour or so, you might actually get some laughs out of one of the most unintentionally hilarious movies I've ever seen. There are plenty of ridiculous plot points, and some of the most embarrassingly bad acting I've seen in a long time, including one of the worst-acted death scenes in history. Without giving anything away, it occurs near the end of the movie. When I was five years old, I used to play cowboys and indians with my cousins, and I could fake die from a fake gunshot wound more convincingly than this. I'd advise skipping this one, unless you're just looking for something to make fun of.
