    amazing.

i caught this movie in an exclusive screening and it was just brilliant. Hood to Coast is a 197 mile relay race in Portland, Oregon that spans from Mt. Hood all the way to the coastline. the film documents 4 teams that all run their hearts out. the race lasts about 20 hours at the most and it is just brutal!

the cinematography is genius. wide, vast shots of the countryside to beautiful shots of the runners' on their journey across Oregon.

while watching these runners pour everything into the hood to coast race, you can't help but root for them. these people are ordinary human beings who love running, but to them it's more than exercise. it's a lifestyle.

the film was great & i would love to watch it again one day very soon. i myself am not an athletic person at all, but i enjoyed it very much. so, if you see this in a theater near you, i recommend you watch it! it'll make you want to jog & run & be awesome.

    Inspiring

This was a fantastic movie and one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. Many documentaries, while informative, can get depressing and this one is quite the opposite. I challenge you to watch this movie and not fall in love with the quirky characters and beautiful Oregon landscape. Also, try not get motivated to start exercising...another common side effect of the Hood to Coast movie!

The movie follows 4-5 teams through a grueling 197 mile running relay, chronicling their preparation (or lack thereof) and race experience. It explores what motivates people to race and the importance of relationships in accomplishing extraordinary tasks.

Inspirational - be ready to get your shoes on

As an ex Portlander (oregon) and a 1999 participant in the Portland to Coast (walk) and a newbie runner, I was thrilled when I found out a movie was coming out. Wondered what it would be like & a bit concerned my non running hubby would be interested. I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat minutes into the movie. I watched & listened to the audience oooh & ahhh, laughter, sniffle. What an amazing opportunity the producers/directors/filmographers had to capture the true human spirit. And they did. My husband thought it was excellent and I can't wait for the DVD release so I can share it with our children. And I can't wait to have my own Grunge! Hood to Coast team!

    Hood to Coast

Having run this race in 2007, it was great to be able to relive the adventure. I have been a runner for a number of years and can say that this was the best race I have ever run. I have done marathons, 1/2 marathons, 10K's, trail runs, but nothing will ever match the thrill of participating in Hood to Coast.

Watching the film, I cried, I laughed, I smiled, and felt my heart get warm as I watched the sites and sounds of the race.

I am also grateful to the producers for including our team photo before the movie started. It was so nice to see that picture again on the big screen.

Many thanks for the opportunity to run this race, I would do it again in a minute. So many memories made that they will last a lifetime.

This is what running is all about - run to see this movie

I loved this movie. The variety in the team's profiled, and the challenges they face are inspiring. The excellent photography takes you right from the base of Mount Hood to the coast over the course of a day and a half. The way in which the movie captures what it's like to participate in a team multi-stage race, from crowded vans to lack of sleep to waiting for a 'missing' runner go the pain that some runners feel -- and the sheer exhilaration that seems almost universal are a joy to watch. If you think you'd never be able to complete even one leg of a relay race, you might have a different idea after you watch Hood to Coast.

I'm fully inspired to sign up for one of our two DC-finish relays. If you're a runner, or your significant other or family member is -- run to see the nearest screening.
