Summary
Reviewers say 'Abbott Elementary' is a humorous and relatable show that effectively captures the challenges of teaching in underfunded schools. Praised for its realistic portrayal, well-developed characters, and sharp writing, the mockumentary style is often noted. However, some find it too close to real experiences, hindering escapism. Despite mixed opinions, most appreciate its humor, heartwarming moments, and positive depiction of teachers.

Abbott Elementary is an incredible show, I love it, every character is relatable, deep, and distinctive, it's a different type of show, a fictional reality TV show, it's incredibly creative and incredibly funny, every episode gets better and better and I think once they expand the universe it'll go from great to brilliant.
I love this show, will def keep watching, and I'm gonna give it an A.
Amazing show definitely worth a watch.

Ever since Parks and Recreation ended, I've been craving a worthy successor. Abbott Elementary is that successor.
It ticks all the boxes:
Relatable, likeable characters Brilliant sense of humour and self deprecation Shaky camera work Touches on real world issues
I'm only halfway through season one, but managed to get into it immediately. Was immensely delighted when I looked it up on IMDB to discover a further 3 more season.
The lead character Janine Teagues is an uncanny substitute for Leslie Knope, with strong passionate convictions, wanting the best for her pupils. While Jacob Hill, reminiscent of Tom Haverford, the lovable clown who wants to be seen as cool and down with the kids!
But aside from those similarities, Abbott Elementary with its obvious flaws and quirks clearly distinguishes itself as a great comedy in its own right.

Abbott Elementary was so heavily promoted before the premiere I figured it was going to be terrible and the best parts were shown in trailers. I was pleasantly surprised when I watched the first two episodes. The show was/is actually great.
I love the characters.and want to strangle either Quinta Brunson or. Chris Perfetti every other minute. Both are like close friends of mine, one who can never leave things alone, they always want to poke sleeping bears; the other is so careful to never give any offense to anyone that they of course offend everyone.
The rest of the cast is just perfect, the disinterested principal, the disillusioned but still hard working veteran teacher, the NY gal who "has a guy" and the "I'm just here for a short time" sub. Yes the characters can be a little over the top in the stereo-types, but that is a tried and true formula for sit coms.
Three episodes in and it is just getting better.

This show is spot on for the experiences that I had as an elementary school teacher. Funny lines that are also true which is a bit sad but that's the reality of teaching there.
It's a serviceable pilot to set up the series with a likable lead in Quinta Brunson's Janine Teagues. Brunson is also the show's creator and penned the pilot. Particularly liked the joke about "Baby Shark" being the "Back That Azz Up" for young children. Look forward to seeing where it goes from here.

- TriviaDuring a February 2022 interview with Terry Gross on the National Public Radio program "Fresh Air (1975)," Quinta Brunson said that when the show was an unexpected ratings and critics' hit right away, she and the rest of the producers decided to take some of the money that had been budgeted for advertising and other marketing and use it instead to buy supplies for real teachers.
