Ching's documentary, following Andrew Yang's Presidential campaign, is a pleasure to watch. There is just something very engaging about how the camera moves through everything as if you are experiencing everything directly through the filmmaker. It's incredible to me when I think of her journey as a woman in China to being here in America following a Presidential candidate! Wow. I find so much value in Ching's work. Your passions become ours as well. Keep doing what you are doing!!! Thank you for the work you do. I am looking forward to watching some of your others works and am, very much, looking forward to what you do next!
I enjoyed watching the documentary My Yang Gang Diary. Not knowing how canvassing goes in political campaigns, I found this documentary very educational. The passion of the people who supported Andrew Yang and their volunteering activities was impressive. Yang's campaign slogan "Not Left, Not Right, but Forward" is so right on. I found it fascinating that the filmmaker Ching Juhl quit her college teaching job, and became a Yang Gang member.
The interviews from supporters of Andrew Yang were interesting and they were well presented. I was surprised to learn that the whole documentary was shot on an iPhone. It looks great and I strongly recommend it!

This is a unique documentary about election canvassing and presidential primaries in America, fighting relentlessly against the odds and battling against all kinds of difficulties on the way (coldness, tiredness, despair, even physical injuries). Through a very personal lens, we get to experience and feel the extraordinary life of ordinary political activists; the journey is as much about supporting a candidate as building a strong camaraderie and dreaming together large and high that we can change things... If you happen to feel depressed by the current state of political affairs, then this movie is the perfect fix... Watch it and you may start to feel that it is time for you too to get on your feet and change things ...
I paid to watch this documentary a few months back and wasn't disappointed. Although I knew that Yang never had a chance of becoming President nor Mayor of New York, I was curious about why people supported him. This documentary offers a very thoughtful perspective on the people who made his campaign possible.
It's very well shot and tells a very beautiful and compelling story from the perspective of the filmmaker, Ching Juhl. Her journey and personal growth as both an immigrant and campaigner parallel the campaign movements as she travels the country persevering through racism and other difficulties.
The camaraderie and genuine respect of the other campaigners is authentic and reveals deeply personal layers about their individual personalities and reasons for joining the campaign. They somewhat reminded me of the motley crue from Godspell!
Aside from the colorful volunteers, the technical details are nearly flawless. This is not an amateurish attempt at guerilla filmmaking. The scenes are balanced following a logical sequence, the sound quality is excellent and the visual details maintain an engaging clarity throughout.
If you enjoy a lively behind the scenes look at political campaigns, this is it!

Filmmaker Ching Juhl understood what today's political leaders are calling for in the last 2020 Presidential campaign: the importance of ordinary citizens joining to do something and contribute to making a difference if they are not satisfied with how the current administration is doing. With the passionate following of Andrew Yang's presidential run, Ching Juhl gives an intimate window into the canvassing process.
Beautifully shot on an iPhone, Juhl invites the viewer to join her "Yang Gang" followers' behind-the-scenes look, emphasizing Yang's "Not Left, not Right, but Forward! Humanity first" agenda. The interesting, eclectic soundtrack adds much to this powerful film.
